As satisfying as it was seeing that star and getting the spotlight character, I will honestly not miss these pipe pulls however one thing I am worried about is how much rubies characters, karts and gliders will cost. If they're 100 (or above) just like the Miis, that'll be disappointing. I really hope they're at a reasonable price.
Everyone says DS or Wii is nostalgic for them. The past 3 years, Tour has been my high school career. Like I'm seeing the old tours and I think "that was when everyone at school was playing it" or "the last tour before the pandemic" or "the tour at the peak of my high school life in 2021" and even my graduation tour. Now Tour will be carrying my college years. I always love this feeling of future nostalgia. The pipes are the big deal of those memories. I would pull for characters with my friends. It won't be the same but Tour is iconic.

People only see the bad side of pipes in MKT but they were very fun! But now I feel bad for the kids that spent money trying to get a Character/Kart/Glider
I will miss the gatcha pipes in Mario Kart Tour and seeing the stars whenever you get a high end driver but I can’t wait to see what the Spotlight Shop has to offer! One of my fondest memories with the gatcha pipe was getting Santa Bowser on a free pipe pull during the winter tour in 2020!
Wow, looking back at the pipes i've pulled on made me realize most of them were a disgrace even being 50 ones, i'm even more excited for the spotlight shop now, finally will be able to get those things i actually pulled for to complete the sets, like i almost drained the vampire Waluigi pipe for him only, and he remained in the very last 4 items at the bottom, i hated that.
Us when pipes were a thing: Ugh! 250 rubies in and still no kangaroo Yoshi! Us when the spotlight is a thing: Ugh! 5 tours later and still no kangaroo Yoshi in the spotlight shop!
The gatcha removal is a great thing, bur im just really worried about the price of the spotlight things. ISTG if its like 100 rubies and over, nintendo really did us dirty -_-
I will really miss these pipes. I always loved seeing where the items I wanted were and seeing the stars for the characters. It's extra fun when a star appears in your freebie and you're thinking "Ugh it's just going to be a duplicate" and the driver you want appears. I am excited for this change, but I always saved for the characters I wanted, and I enjoyed doing it. I can't wait for all the "I got luckier than you" moments to be over though. I hated the competitive spirit between people who pulled on the same pipe.
