Hello, it's bright pink. It had always been kept in the front window and caught the sun. However, i transfered it to a rear room about 10mths ago and decided, without knowing what type of plant it was other than some form of cacti and then watered it about once a week; about 50mls. Then a few weeks ago i noted buds forming. So i just kept that watering regieme and hey presto. Beautiful. I want to take cuttings and repot it. So i'll be looking to do that post bloom. @@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN

Have had my Thanksgiving Cactus 10+ years. She's salmon pink. I used to quit watering, and refrain from any artificial lighting in the room, beginning in October. However, this October, she just began forming buds. (I still avoid artificial light.) I use succulent mix, fertilized with used coffee grounds (Grandma did).

I've begun geeking out about these types of cactus/succulents. Clipings, soils, watering, light, temp, lots to learn!

Ohh that’s great! And thanksgiving cactus is a breeze to propagate ! Just clip off a node, let harden for a day or two. Then plant in directly into soil or root out the cutting in a mix of perlite and vermiculite 😀🌳

Cactus Can I transfer my plant to a new room once they start blooming? They’ve been in a dark and cold room for 2 months now, but now I want to bring them into a room that’s warm and bright to enjoy them. Will they tolerate the transfer?
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN 8 месяцев назад
Hi there. Yes, they can handle it. You can also transfer to brighter spot once you see buds forming on the segmented tips of cactus. 😀🪴

My beautiful Thanksgiving cactus has buds all over, but only two of them opened up the flowers and now some of the buds are falling off… What have I done to her?
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN

I am so sorry Nikki. How damp is the soil? If she is too wet she might drop buds. And sometimes when you buy a new plant, they can drop buds when trying to acclimate to a new home. Hope this is helpful. 😀🪴
