@@ponkocrossingforpalestine for me it has been almost 2 years and it's still irregular. Sometimes I just don't get it at all. Ngl I haven't been tracking it that closely but I will be like "I haven't had my period since __ happened" and I realize that it was like 2 months ago.

Agreed 10000000% i bleed constantly (every day) on oral BC and my obgyn says it’s “normal” …. No matter what. I’ve been getting second opinions saying it’s stressed….womans healthcare is so scary and an embarrassment for the lack of knowledge we all have on it.
@@georgettethorsnes9626 oh ok, mine I have an idea like it's sometime in a week or so sometimes it's 2 weeks late but I get like a minor crampy feeling and tired like 4 days before so that's when I break out the pads 😅
@@georgettethorsnes9626same here! But it means for me that its gonna be realll painful! I sometimes dont even get the cramping instead it just starts and screws me over 🙃
Ikr? I was actually shaken to my core. Mine has no "symptoms" either. Like there are, but they are never consistent. Like for a few months my nose would bleed unexpectedly for days to a week in advance. I have always had nosebleeds REALLY bad, but the doctors just said to get blood work done. Nothing came of that, and literally the next period I had, no nosebleeds at all. Sometimes I cramp for a week, sometimes not at all. Recently they have lasted 5 days, but before that they were heavier and always 7 days exactly. Sometimes there are 20 days between periods, sometimes 40. I'm BEYOND jealous of people who can track theirs with useful results
Most doctors jump straight to prescribing birth control instead of figuring out what the cause of irregular periods is. It's often caused by PCOS or endo, and there are things you can do to improve these issues. It can take seeing a few doctors to find one that takes irregular periods seriously.
@@cherrybombb2306 💯! It's not the best treatment for most issues, and it has side effects that can even affect fertility, especially with prolonged use.
My doctor gave me bc and I went from having no idea when my period would come and being in agony for three days when it came to bleeding a tiny bit every day, never knowing when my period would come, and being in moderate pain for three days every time it came. Not exactly the results we were going for...
I have had irregular periods since they started. I went on birth control when I was 14 or 15 (started at age 12), but it caused me to have a month-long period that only stopped when I stopped taking the birth control. Now, I’m 20 and will hopefully be tested for PCOS in a few months.
Yeeeep, I went to the doctor for irregular periods and severe cramps when I was in high school and she was like “how about birth control 🙄” clearly thinking I was lying to get it prescribed?? When I explained that I wasn’t interested in birth control (I am a lesbian lmao but didn’t feel comfortable disclosing that) and that I was more concerned something might being wrong, she went on a whole rant about how obviously it would be “ideal” to wait until marriage and find a good christian boy but “let’s be realistic” it’s good to be prepared. I never said anything about wanting to wait until marriage or about being christian (I’m not) it was totally unsolicited and insane. I didn’t even know what to say so I just declined again and left. Doctors dismiss women at every turn its so crazy. Thankfully as an adult I have much more regular periods and the severe cramps are more rare. Still never got any kind of help from a doctor though, just hoping everything is good lmao 😅
Why not go to the doctor? I’ll tell you why. Because you’ve been going your whole life trying to get answers and all they do is give you a pill and ask you to come for more and more tests. I finally went to a doctor at 29 and he’s like “wow. You’ve got scars all over your ovaries and they’re twisted backward”. From one scan. No doctor could tell me that before??? I have cysts and endometriosis and who knows what else because I’m not waisting my time and money to get the run around.
Not to mention that many of them just won't test you and they're happy to refer you for all the wrong tests. I was referred to get a CT for a tissue problem in my brain. CT scans show HARD THINGS, how the fuck would that help??? I also have wrist problems and the (female) doctor literally said it wasn't possible for me to have pain in both wrists because I was "too young" at the time. The same doctors told me it was carpal and gave me exercises to do, ignoring me when I said I had alreayd been doing them for 2 years because the handout she gave me is available online. I had to tell HER to test me for carpal and when she did, sure enough I didn't have carpal. She literally went "oh, well do the exercises" and told me the exit was out of the room on the left. Finding a good doctor is so hard and when you find them, hold on to them until they retire 😭
@@MorganChaos Yes haha, it was. It didn't really bother me honestly, I was just glad that I recognized the machine and could demand testing at all. Still don't know what's wrong with my joints though, sadly.
@@kinseylise8595 I remember when I got it the neurologist was like "how does it feel" and I just made a horrified shuddering sound lol. It's not even that it hurts but it feels like it SHOULD. Either way, I'm sorry you're struggling to get a diagnosis. If you have any idea what you think it is, it might help to look up a specialist who's an expert in that thing and ask for a referral to that specific doctor. That's how I got a skin condition diagnosed that often takes years. Even if you're wrong about what you think you might have, an expert in that condition will know about adjacent conditions.
A lot of moms on "i didnt know i was pregnant" had irregular periods and were told by doctors, without a formal infertility diagnosis, that they would either not be able to get pregnant or it would be really hard to get pregnant. They got pregnant without trying. The truth is that it's really hard to TIME a pregnancy when someone has irregular periods because it's difficult to track when ovulation is, haveing an irregular period does not automatically mean you can't get pregnant. Please use protection if you want to prevent pregnancy and see a competent specialist if you do want to get pregnant!
My mom had a miscarriage 2 years before I was born in 1987. She when in for an regular ultrasound and they couldn't find the baby's heartbeat - they ran several tests - no heartbeat. The doctor told her to come back in an few days if she hadn't passed it by then. She didn't, According to the nurse it was developed along enough to show signs of developing into an boy. My mom was told that because of this she would never have any more kids. No specialized testing, no reference to an specialist - just you had an miscarriage, now you're infertile, she was told this by the small town doctor. She and my dad were heartbroken. They already had an son, but they were both from big Roman Catholic families, they wanted an big family too. Apparently i was an miracle pregnancy 2 years later. They divorced when i was an toddler. Between an sudden death of his best friend, not being able to have the big family he wanted my dad had a affair which lead to divorce. His mistress turned wife didn't want kids - but he was convinced he could change her mind, make her an "real woman"- he pressured her to give up her job and give him 2 more kids, when they were baby's she took them with her and ran off with her affair partner, because she couldn't handle all 4 kids.
My parents couldn't afford to send me to college, but they made too much money for me to qualify for student loans. So i took a gap year to work and save up. That January my periods changed from regular schedule of 6/7 days heavy to 2-3 days of spotting. I when to my family doctor several times over the next 7 months. She was convinced it was nothing to worry about, that i was coming back so much because i was attention seeking, she did 1 of those pregnancy pee stick tests - negative. Back aches, swollen feet, tender lower belly, consit nausea set in during this time. That summer i got fed up and when to the ER because the pain in my lower back and lower belly were insane. I had an sever urinary tract infection and 28 weeks pregnant. The ER doctor to me off for hiding it - i told him I've been seeing my family doctor non-stop these past several months - which my medical records shown. He ran an ultrasound - yep, i was roughly 28 weeks pregnant. I was born with 2 blood disorders (i was diagnosed at age 14) which is why i was spotting so much. The ER doctor called my family doctor at home that night at the nurse's station desk and screamed at her. I was 19 year's old, and my 2 blood disorders made this an extreme risk pregnancy, and probably my only pregnancy in my life. When i saw my family doctor again later that week she said she didn't have any time to monitor my pregnancy - an desk lady spoke up and mentioned how she had a free slot every day at 10am - for such emergencys. During our next appointment she said "well, your 28 weeks pregnant - nothing we can do about that now." In an Sassy tone. The baby and I switched to my boyfriend/baby daddys doctor after birth - which i required 4 bag's of blood transfusions to survive.
Wohh... It's a wholesome life story dear.... I'm sorry you have to suffer through all that..... But don't worry in the end if you're happy that what it matters the most 😇
@@Skepticallove9399I don't think "wholesome" is a word I would use to describe that... more like difficult. _Really_ difficult. I also don't know that it's a good idea to seemingly make assumptions that a person is happy now when they just told their story about going through an unintended, high-risk pregnancy that they couldn't do anything about, and at age 19 when they were just trying to start their life. I certainly wouldn't project any positive expectations as to how they feel now.
NEVER assume you're infertile just because your periods are infrequent or irregular. Harder to get pregnant does not mean UNABLE to get pregnant, so take precautions if you have partner(s) who have the anatomy to get you pregnant. Also obviously use a barrier method to prevent an STI unless you and your partner have been tested and don't have any other partners
Exactly, harder to get pregnant doesn't mean unable to. Apparently my mom was told by a doctor that she's unfertile but here I am alongside my two sisters. And she didn't even try
I was always very surprised when I heard other girls being like "ya I'll start probably tomorrow morning" like HOW DO YOU KNOW??!? I'd miss a month or two and just be like, we'll more childhood for me XD
I have super irregular periods and the one blessing is that I do know when it's coming. I get this foreboding pain in my lower stomach the night before and know to wear a pad to bed.
No matter how irregular my cycle is, I can still tell when it's coming based on prolonged or frequent lower back pains, frequent minor headaches and slight abdominal cramping. And these PMS symptoms usually lasts anywhere from 3-5 days before my period starts.
Yeah its interesting because I get that too. But I got used to feeling weird and then didn't know it was my period. My periods were really painful like REALLY bad so I take birth control pills now daily but occasionally if I'm particularly stressed, I forget. Once I forgot, I was coming home from school and I felt really weird. I felt really angry and also really upset for no reason and my stomach really hurt. Then I realised my period had started. Luckily because I take the pills for such a long time, I don't get the pain in the same way if I forget. I do get pain but nowhere near as bad. But in that moment, I was suddenly aware of how much having a period changes your body. Like I could tell that something was weird before I checked and it wasn't just the pain, my emotions felt too much. I realised that because I'd taken the pills for so long, I wasn't used to feeling those feelings anymore so when they came, I actually noticed them as being out of the norm.
Yeah same here. Being irregular just means I'm forced to be a lil more in tune with my body. Its been long enough that i know when the "vibes" are off 😂
Sameee it never just starts out of absolutely nowhere so it’s not ever a total surprise, there’s several days of some combo of pms symptoms before it starts so at least there’s that, my problem is sometimes the pms symptom days happen but period doesn’t come and skips to another month or two of having no period so we just sit here confused 😂
This!!!! I thought I would struggle with infertility because I had infrequent and painless periods. I didn't try for kids until my 40s and had twins at 42 years old. Turns out my great grandmother was the same and didn't marry until her 30s. 7 kids and was 48 when she had her last child. Infrequent periods are just a thing in some families, doesn't always mean infertile.
Overly irregular and have severe period symptoms such as cramps in my abdomen and left leg to the point I can't move and have constant sickness and nausea. My aunts who were the same as me got pregnant around 20 given they presumed they just weren't fertile enough. Turns out the women in my family are way too fertile to be alive - my grandma had 13 kids.
I have such irregular periods its actually sad and i get 0 indicators when it's coming so i usually end up ruining atleast 1 pair of underwear every cycle
I also have irregular periods. I used to ruin a pair of underwear as well each cycle but I read on the internet once that if you hand wash you blood stained clothing/ fabric with any soap and COLD water it will get the stain out ( and it has helped save my underwear).
Period underwear (the ones that are supposed to be a replacement for pads) are what I use when I know my period is going to show up soon. (Based on its been x amount of weeks since the last period). It's saved me a lot. I wouldn't use them as a replacement for pads or tampons but they're good for preventing emergencies.
There are certain soaps that are very good for that. One traditional I forgot the name from for that moment is. There exists a vegan alternative that turned out to work just as good. Best with hot water here. And the fresher, the better. Only for red fruit stains like from wine I don't recommend it, as they just turned some shade of blue or violet.
Doctors suck when it comes to women's anatomy for some reason, I had a doctor state I could be pregnant as an abstinent teen and demanded a pregnancy test over some nausea. If they already assume that over some frequent nausea, what are they gonna do when you state you haven't got your period in like 8 months despite knowing it's not the typically assumed answer? 💀
"For some reason"??? Did you forget the word "misogyny" or "patriarchy", love? 💅 Also, though, they do this cause some places education levels are that abysmal that teens don't understand how pregnancy works and other places there's so much stigma that they cannot be trusted as their parents will start abuse upon such notion. Yet again other places religious and whatnot nonsense is so infamously affecting doctors, that the ones at the hospital know there's bound to be ppl who heard "You can't get pregnant" where they should've heard "It is unlikely, not impossible, please always work with protection"
Omg, I would be so offended if my doctor insisted I was pregnant. I’m the only one who’s been near my genitalia since I was a little kid and my parents needed to help me get dressed. I would be getting a new doctor asap.
"When was your last period." I take birth control that stops it. "Is there any chance you could be pregnant" I'm am asexual virgin who lives in the middle of some corn fields has to be driven around by her parents. "We're going to run a pregnancy test." 🙄
Tbf, I get how it would be irritating, but with the amount of people who don’t get how pregnancy happens, are in denial, are afraid of the stigma/their parents, and will swear up and down they couldn’t be pregnant before (or even after) testing positive, I think it’s good that they do it. It’s a super quick, non-invasive test to exclude the simplest explanation. As long as they then do _something_ to figure out what’s actually wrong after they find out there’s no pregnancy, I think it’s the best course of action. Also, imagine the shitstorm if a bunch of pregnant women came in with no period, nausea, and maybe other typical symptoms, but doctors took them at their word and put them through a bunch of (potentially invasive) tests, scaring them about possible illnesses and maybe even harming the fetus, before they were revealed to be pregnant weeks later, maybe after the cutoff for abortion or even at birth. It makes sense to test for it first. I don’t think it has anything directly to do with misogyny, in this case.
usually w irregular cycles you can still kind of sense when its coming (other symptoms) but other times you just get 2am period jumpscare on day 72 of your cycle
Have you asked for a transvaginal ultrasound? That's what finally got me my PCOS diagnosis after years of searching. Didn't show up on any blood work, but my gyno found the problem immediately after looking at the pictures.
NO FR. Like normally its supposed to be a few days but nah I got weeks of stupid hormones acting up but I never fully make the connection until it’s confirmed like it could be anything
Same. When my periods are regular for a time (usually three month regular and then back to being irregular), my PMS symptoms start 2-4 days before. When I'm irregular though, they start 1-2 weeks before. They're different too. More physical when regular and more mental when irregular.
That's likely PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) where the PMS symptoms occur during the luteal phase about a week or 2 before the actual period and potentially continue through the period. I have that, and it's like this.
There was about a year of my cycle where the week before I got my period, I would get a pimple on the same spot on my earlobe. It was gross but handy 😅
"Do you ever wonder if you're infertile?" That hit me. I got my period maybe six times the whole four years I was in college. Didn't worry about it because I was busy and I wasn't underweight so there didn't seem to be a reason for it. I figured it was stress. Flash forward to me starting to try for kids in my late 20's. It ended up taking thousands in fertility treatments before I became a mother. The signs were definitely there from early on.
Me, not wanting to have children and having irregular periods: that. Also me, aware that in 5 years I could meet a man of my life and want to have children with him (unlikely but not impossible, I guess): well, shit.
Lol this is relatable. Mine comes anytime between the 2nd-17th of the month (but it does come every month so there's that at least XD). My friend was freaking out that her period was a day late and I was just like "ah, yes. This is something we panic about"
Haha😄... Yk my cousin after my cousin's first period second one came almost a year later 😑 Here it's me whose period are perfect that sometimes it comes exactly after 28 day.... And it annoys me so much Saddest part.... I'm on my periods and yt knowingly reccomend such videos 😤😣
I was going to another state for a championship competition and I was like: I should bring pads because I haven't gotten a period in like 2 months and I have no idea when it is going to start. It actually started less than a day after I got home so that was good timing.
this may be normal. your period could be not exactly 30 days apart (35 days, 28 days etc) unless ofc a doctor has told you its not normal. it coming on the same day every month is not common
I track my period with a period calendar app and I've had times where I go 3+ months without it. I can also have light spotting between each period from time to time. Some times I get really bad PMS, cravings, cramps, and back pain symptoms and other times I don't notice any symptoms at all. Sometimes it can last for a week, other times it can last for 4 days or less. My period is as irregular as it can possibly be. I always stay stocked up on boxes of tampons and carry some in my purse cuz I honestly never know when it could show up
THIS!!!! My cycle's been like that (minus the spotting)! My girl friends and I were talking about our cycles and I just deadpanned 'you guys's cycles are regular? lucky' xD
Please get checked out by doctors who know what POCS is and endometriosis/adenomyosis is. You do not want things to stay undiagnosed as some of this can have seriously dangerous and painful and expensive (in some places) consequences that get harder and harder to remedy the longer they are left to cause deficits /damage. 😟
@@KxNOxUTA I've tried before back in high school (I'm 22) when I got an ultrasound done but it seemed healthy according to the tech. Even with nasty cramps (even that day) she said I was fine :/ Maybe I'm just meant to suffer idk

I don't often have irregular periods, but I miss it when I'm going under severe stress. It doesn't help when people start treating you like you're somehow pregnant and put you under surveillance until you finally have your period again and people get ticked you were telling the truth.
I believe that's a normal response to extreme stress. Your body realises its not a good time for a baby and just puts a stop to the cycle early. I had that happen a while ago.
i feel like i just got comforted finally knowing i'm not alone T.T i know my friends don't mean to, but sometimes when i told them i only get 5-6 periods a year (sometimes even less), they really made me feel like there's something SO wrong with me, like i'm some kind of alien... which yes, my body is certainly not normal..., but knowing i'm not alone feels nice
Everytime someone would say "just get one of those period calendars on your phone!! It helped me track mine and now I always know when it'll come!" I legit just started to laugh 💀💀 that's precious that you think a calendar can track this anomaly of a "schedule" 🤣🤣
It took me over a decade to find out my period issues were due to endometriosis, and they simply told me there no cure and they won’t provide prescription pain meds so my options were birth control (which only made things worse for me) and Advil (which doesn’t work) since they don’t want to do surgery unless it gets significantly worse. I don’t blame the friend for not wanting to get checked out, it was a big waste of time for me. And even though it’s irregular, I’ve learned to understand the signs my body tells me. My app claimed my period wouldn’t be coming, but I could tell last night that it would arrive today so I went to sleep with protection just to be safe and sure enough it was here when I woke up. Also, I’m never concerned about pregnancy when my period is late, because abstinence is a sure way to know there’s no possibility of pregnancy.
1) you never want to get started on opioids for pain control. If it's not used for a short-term thing, like 2 days post-surgery... Then your body starts making new pain receptors. Then when you're not taking the medicine the pain you do feel is magnified. 10 years later you're dealing with a dependency issue and you're taking 80 mg of oxy a day and still not feeling better. 2) A lot of endometriosis treatments are very aggressive, and can include chemo/dangerous surgeries so I get why they might not want to pursue more aggressive treatments, 3) try to find specialist that treat that all the time instead of guy knows that rarely see it and see if somebody will actually treat you! Some doctors are just more cautious and afraid than others. And also if a doctor's not super specialized at a particular condition they usually won't tell you. (When shopping around specifically ask if they specialize in endometriosis treatment) Hopefully they will start developing new and better treatments now that it's understood that it's a more widespread problem than previously thought.
@@jessicaolson490 1) I didn’t say I want opioids. There is such thing as prescription NSAID that will actually touch the pain, unlike over the counter medications, and they don’t cause dependency like opioids do. 2) Excision surgery is what I’ve been fighting to get done, not chemo. My gynocologist isn’t capable of doing it though. Getting excision done sooner than later, is better than leaving the endometriosis to fester causing more scar tissue to build until the point where I won’t be able to get it done. Especially since in my country once you finally get accepted for surgery, it takes many years before you’ll even end up on the table, by which point it could be too late for me. 3) That’s what I’ve been fighting for, but my GP won’t give me the referral I need. I can’t see a specialist without a referral from my GP. I have even found the exact specific specialist I want to go to, but my GP is garbage, and I unfortunately can’t switch GP’s because there are no other GP options in my small town. I know I’m an internet stranger, but trust me, I’ve done my thorough research, and am constantly continuing to research. I’m aware of what treatments and surgeries exist, and what the pros and cons of each are. I know what I need for me, but the main thing I need is a GP that will actually listen to me.
I’ve had irregular periods my entire life and I always shrugged it off as ‘oh well it’s just irregular’. After an emergency trip to the ER from abdominal pain I learned that I’ve had severe dermoid cysts on my ovaries since birth. My left over was removed but my right was left in for some reason, which is now another operation I will have to have in the future. I came from a family that shrugged off everything, I am now discovering just how much has come from treatable medical conditions. PLEASE if you have the resources to seek testing for things like this - DO IT. Irregular is called irregular for a reason, take your bodies seriously and see a (FEMALE) gynecologist regularly if you are able ♥️
They left the ovary that didn't need to be removed because in an emergency you only remove what's necessary. Also because going into menopause immediately is a shock to the body and not having any source of your female hormones naturally causes some long-term effects that can reduce quality or duration of life. (Better to preserve ovaries if you can.) However instead of waiting for an emergency you can check with a gynecology specialist that works with conditions like your ovaries to see if they can remove the cyst but preserve the ovary so you still have your own body regulating your hormones. I get frequent and large fluid cysts and was able to have my most problematic ovary fixed before an emergency happened.
This is totally me. I like to joke the only thing my period is consistent about it being inconsistent. I know generally when I’m supposed to get it as it does usually come every month, but it could be anywhere within the span of a week to 10 days. I track my cycle and it’s like one month my cycle will be 26 then the next 33 then the next 29. Mentioned it to a doctor once, and they just brushed me off, and told me that it’s probably hormones and I shouldn’t worry.
i'm pretty sure periods don't always naturally occur on the same day each month. Mine will also come a few days to a week earlier every month (so like one month on the 15th the next on the 10th etc)

Doctors will as if you get facial hair and toss you a PCOS diagnosis and tell you to eat healthy and exercise. Which is better than the doctors who told me I wasn’t getting pregnant because I was fat.
Yeah, my OB post first child said I didn’t lose my baby weight, so that’s why my periods were more and more irregular + no pregnancies. She did run a simple lab which came back normal that time, so I understand why she didn’t conclude it was PCOS, though I have since learned that the full panel hormone panel does not tell the whole story as some thyroid issues come in cycles, and the numbers in that panel aren’t conclusive. A year later, with a 87 day cycle under my belt, she tested again and concluded PCOS, and happily, she verified it with an ultrasound. However… she just said, “you need to lose 40 lbs. How? Eat healthy, less proteins per meal as Texas portions are huge and less carbs like you did during your gestational diabetes days.” My thought… The reason you were suspicious about me having PCOS (aside from irregular period, cause that on its own meant nothing) was because I said no matter what diet I did, I didn’t lose weight. And your instructions post diagnosis was “lose weight, try dieting”…. That doesn’t make sense. So I went to a proper PCOS nutritionist.
@@Jocelyn.c.h.wI like that you figured it out for yourself, and went to a PCOS nutritionist. I haven't gone to a nutritionist, but I've done it on my own, and not only have I been more regular on it, but I've felt better as well.

Don't be hard on yourself, our bodies are all kinds of whack. If you find that you have accelerated hair growth (esp facial, like chin hairs) or gain weight easily, but can't lose the weight, you may want to look into PCOS as a possibility. Also if you're under a lot of stress, that can delay (sometimes even end early) your period, so take that into consideration too. Here's hoping your body just needs a bit more time to figure itself out and you'll be regular soon enough!
if you have irregular periods you really do need to get it checked out because buildup of endometrial lining is a risk factor for endometrial cancer. i know doctors are usually terrible to women and that's why a lot of us have given up on finding good ones but they are out there.
Bro I don’t even know if I’m regular cause I’ve literally never bothered to track. It’s either major cramps before it’s about to start or I used to get dreams about my period a little bit before. It was pretty weird
What happens to me is i cant sleep, i wake up late bc i couldnt sleep, maybe i had a dream abt peeing the bed, i go to the bathroom, and then it just starts. I think im pretty lucky like that :3. Omg sometimes when it starts im so groggy that im like AAAAA im peeing blood AAAAA like even tho ive had it for years i get so tired that its like THIS IS ABNORMAL 😞😂
I always forget to track mine and then I’m absolutely useless at remembering how long ago it was. I can’t tell if it’s been 1 week or 2 months. Sometimes I’ll remember to track it and I’ll be thinking it’s been ages since my last period and it’s probably going to start soon and then I go look at the app and it’s been 1 week since it ended.
i once went nine months without a period for no reason. no pregnancy, no miscarriage, no nothing. [i went to my doc abt it and everything came back normal]
I was put on birth control to regulate my period in my teen years. But now I think it was an early warning sign for my hypothyroidism. I got diagnosed two years ago after my period came 45 days late. I had other symptoms like sudden weight gain (I have been underweight my entire life, very unhealthy), hair loss, flimsy nails, dizzyness, occasional breathlessness, and hot/cold flashes. Irregular periods without a notable cause (stress, weight loss, and unhealthy eating habits causes upsets in periods) usually means something is wrong.
Friendly reminder: infertile does not mean sterile. You can definitely become pregnant, you just might not realise for a while because the lack of periods isn't a hint. If you don't want to become pregnant, use protection. I only ovulate about 3 times a year, longest I've gone without one was 10 months. My periods could last anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks long. Never been pregnant but it still sets my anxiety into overdrive at the negligible possibility.
I can understand. The uncertainity of periods has the power to play with our minds , making us worried & feel various other emotions .. We need the women worldwide , to take extra extra care of their physical & mental health. The body plays tricks with our minds , messing up our moods , interfering with our daily work too. So we need things like meditation , exercise etc to feel better emotionally & mentally. A strong & calm mind is the requirement of a female body.
Mine’s semi-irregular, for whatever reason it changes every 2 months. Like right now, I have no idea when it’s gonna come, it was supposed to come like last week
No point going to the GP with irregular periods because they won’t even investigate until you’re over a year trying to get pregnant unsuccessfully. 🤷🏻♀️ Took them 3 years to diagnose me with anything and I still don’t have an answer on whether or not I have PCOS
I’ve had irregular periods for over 6 years now and I sometimes get as little as maybe 3 periods in one year… not fun when you’re always on edge if that feeling down there is a surprise period jumpscare, or just discharge or butt sweat… on the bright side it means I don’t suffer from having to deal with periods every single month but then there’s always the underlying health conditions just lurking in the shadows…
the only reason i can tell when mines coming anymore is cause i'll have abdominal pains for like a week, and the day before the bleeding starts i'll start sobbing and be an emotional wreck and won't know what's wrong with me
If you have warning signs that it's coming, then that would be the most reliable. Like a stress headache ( hormone triggered ), stomach cramps, moodiness, acne breakout. If you keep track of these kinds of symptoms, and notice a pattern, then that would be the most reliable, whether your period comes every month or so, or only a few times a year.
I've always had irregular periods and recently my doctor found irregular cells in my lining that weren't cancerous but could lead to cancer. Now I've got visits scheduled for the next year so they can keep a close eye on it to make sure it doesn't become cancerous. If your doctor is indifferent, get another one. It's not always going to be something bad, but if it is you need a doctor who cares enough to do their job. My current OBGYN is wonderful and I love her.
My OBGYN said that birth control pills don't increase the risk for getting breast cancer, but if you do get breast cancer, it accelerates the growth of the cancer. 🤷♀️
It only causes cancer in the California sense of "This one person we were testing it on got cancer, there's no reason to believe there's a link, but the law requires us to say it may cause cancer"
I know this isn’t a solution for everyone, but what helped me with regulating my menstrual cycle was seed cycling. Basically taking pumpkin seeds and flax seeds after menstruation until you finish ovulating and then switching to sesame and sunflower seeds until you finish your next period. Approx 2 weeks per each seed cycle until you switch off. Maca powder is also really good with hormone regulation as well. Also really helped with my acne and stabilizing my mood! People were giving me compliments on my skin when I stuck to the regimen.
We, girlies with PCOS and endometriosis when the symptoms are not controlled can tell ✊️😔 it's terrible when they come when I'm sleeping and I wake up with my clothes soaked... but well, at least never happened outside my house 🤷♀️
as one with irregular periods, it’s just put a pad on and swear to god it’s not the day, liners every day, pads a week before and close to the expected day
Period underwear (the ones that are supposed to be an alternative pad) are a great investment and what I decide to use when I'm not sure when it will happen. They're more comfortable and more financially productive. I wouldn't use them as the way they're intended though, but they've saved me from period emergencies.
Me. My whole life. But having been celibate for a few years, so I’d know pregnancy isn’t even a possibility. Weirdly, sometimes it will be regular for a couple of months, and then just disappear for 3 months, then come back and I’ll have 2 in one month. I’ve given up on knowing when they’ll come but I have symptoms and can usually tell if it’s starting within 3 days. I only track it to see what the longest amount of time I’ve gone without it has been, since sometimes the doctor asks that question.
That’s me before I had to go on the pill to regulate my period (I have PCOS so my periods can be gone for months at a time if I’m not on medication for it)
My period has become somewhat more normal now, but I had very irregular periods when I was younger, and my mom would always worry about it. Doctor said to take birth control, but my mom didn’t want me to, and I honestly didn’t care lmao. I kinda liked the fact that I didn’t have to have periods as much though
Not getting a regular period every month does not mean you're infertile. At all. Your fertility is potentially reduced, and you may have a harder time sustaining a pregnancy, but it's highly unlikely that you're sterile. What an irregular period means is that there's something going on with your endocrine system. You want to find the root cause. An irregular period is the warning light that something could go wrong. And it won't necessarily be with your ovaries (though one of the main causes is PCOS). It could be a problem with your pancreas, adrenal glands or thyroid. I'd check thyroid first, personally. Get your free T3, free T4, reverse T3 and Graves antibodies checked. An irregular period could indicate hyperthyroidism. Left untreated, hyperthyroidism burns out the thyroid and leaves you hypo for life, which reduces your quality of life drastically, and could even kill you.
I can tell about a week prior because I get more wet down there but that's still not reliable. Usually I just check if there's blood on the toilet paper.
I have never gone without for as long as two months, but outside that, this is super relatable. I had no idea other people knew exactly what day they'd get theirs
As a girl who has suffered from something similar but in a painfully different way, and after everything is alright after an year i am so glad that my parents are carrying and I got the right doc on the first time
Wow! I didn’t know that other girls were this clueless! These were the questions that my dad used to ask me, and my mom just simply explained to him that we always have to be prepared. It’s like anything else in life. You wouldn’t go to the store without money EVER. So just keep your pads on you like you do your money.
This is so relatable, sometimes it's monthly sometimes even twice a month and suddenly for 6 months I get none. I rarely even get cramps, mostly my symptoms are headaches so that's how I know it's coming and it usually starts very light then heavy. My friends are literally more worried than I am, but i've literally been living this way since my first at 9 years old💀💀
You just explained my whole life here! People be saying they're gonna get their periods today and I be like yeah I too am gonna get them some time this year oooorrrrrr maybe not! And doctors just prescribe you the same pill they do to someone who's willing to abort, like I just feel it ethically harming for some reason to keep taking that pill every month to get your periods. Also the surety that we're infertile is soooo real! We never get our periods but we still take supplies wherever we go and that one time we forget to take them or it's some sort of an event that's happening, we're freaking gonna get them. And the the Painnnnn and cramps hurtssss soooo baaaddd I swear.
Hey, I'm pretty sure the medicines in the pill are hormones your body naturally produces (or maybe it was that the medicine triggers your body to produce them). But either way the hormones themselves are natural to your body and would be produced over a regular menstrual cycle, the pill is just regulating that hormone cycle for you. What they give you for an abortion is yeah i think the same stuff but a lot stronger and that makes your body do more extreme stuff. So I don't think it's unethical or harmful to yourself to take the preventative one. Ofc it's still your choice and there are many pros and cons. I just wanted to reassure you on that one point.
@@hamsterpouches Thank you so much for explaining it all so clearly. Yeah I was just scared that it will have, you know, like bad side effects or something or that I'll have to get dependent on it to get my periods regularly. But really thank you so much for clearing it all out. I'll definitely talk to my doctor about it, admitting the fact that I wasn't taking the pills she prescribed, well that's gonna get me in trouble but I'll manage.
@@Mahi_S_01 you may get side effects but you can always come off or try a different one. I don't think you get dependent on it, only some medicines so that, but check. Definitely talk to your doctor, they shouldn't tell you off! You have legit concerns and they should answer your questions. If they don't (and some are crap let's be real), get a different doctor. Good luck!
@@hamsterpouches Yeah I'll surely consult someone for this as I am getting too fed up with the symptoms of this pcos and pcod thing, also yeah you're right some of the doctors actually are crap. And Thank you so much for being so sweet. I too wish you all the best for whatever you're going through!
a lot of things can cause it. sometimes, your cycle is just abnormally long. or it could be because of an issue like pcos, endometriosis, fibroids, overactive thyroid, hormone imbalance, no ovulation, etc
I know everyone's experience with birth control is different. I had issues remembering to take it at the exact same time every day. Skipping a day or even taking it a little too late to your normal time makes it totally ineffective at pregnancy prevention AND screws up your hormones so badly. I was a mess. Got an arm implant birth control instead and it fixed everything for me. Love that thing.
THE SWEATER! I always had a sweater at the ready to tie around my waist if I unexpectedly started and bled through. People would ask why I was carrying around a sweater when it’s 90°. Now I always have pads in my purse and I wear liners every day to give myself a little extra time to address it if I start unexpectedly.
mine always comes at random times in the month, idk why, it could've been only two weeks since my last and it's shark week again, but it could've also been two months and i randomly *feel* it coming
Yeah i had this back in high school when i was super stressed and very active. Never gave much thought to it, i just accepted the inconsistency. Theb i went to college and gained 10lbs and first year was a lot less stressful than highschool and thats when i started getting consistent.
That last thing is kinda relatable. I’m regular, but my best friend isn’t. I’m also really sensitive to stuff so I can figure it out days ahead. He does not have that luxury. It evens out somewhat though, since I get cramps off my period.
