I love the conversation and banter, it gives the show that “feel” you know friends with guitars shooting the s?&t and trying out new stuff. Any way you guys just do your things and we will keep enjoying every of track tangent and soapbox you publish.
I thought the MI Audio Crunch Box and The JHS Angry Charlie were based on the Marshall Guv'nor pedal and the JHS Morning Glory was based off the Bluesbreaker. Great episode as always!

I'm still trying to find my go to distortion pedal. At the moment it's the DS-1 Keeley in the 'seeing eye mode', although I do also like the Joyo Ultimate Drive which is very OCD sounding. I've been tempted to try the RAT for a while but haven't so I'm looking forward to seeing the RAT video that you mention in one of the comment replies. P.S. It's good to see you back to the old format with all the silly little childish in-your-endos and tangents. Best guitar show on RU-vid by far. :0)
true, but SG is kind of similar to LP, Explorer too. I think Jazzmaster and a guitar with "modern" pickups would be good. I think it's great having such a broad spectrum of guitars with Strat-Tele-335-LP.. just missing that dare I say.. Chapman.. above the LP lol.

Mick, before putting a distortion pedal on your board, check out the BuffaloFX Evolution - this is such a versatile and great sounding distortion - all BuffaloFX pedals are. But this one could be right up your alley. Put the BuffaloFX on your short and or longlist of pedals to check out :)

All of the Bogner pedals I've played/owned are at the top of the heap. You guys should sport the new mini Blue and Red at some point! I own the original Red and the Oxford fuzz and they are both beyond great at what they do. The Wessex is up there with the best overdrives IMO.
Irritating how the Gibson SG is always overlooked. It's Gibson's best selling guitar of all time, yet even the company themselves neglect it in favor of Les Paul guitars year after year. It's brighter & punchier than both those Gibsons, an absolute rock machine. Perhaps everyone thinks it's a one trick pony? Not sure. They couldn't be more wrong - it'll do everything the Les Paul does & its clean sound can be woody & bright, almost acoustic - like if done on a good amp.
We love SGs. Not sure where the ‘best selling’ thing comes from however. I could point you to many retailers who currently sell 10 LPs for every SG. Historically that may be different. If we have the holy quad, the SG is definitely number 5!

Whiskers B Gibson.com article says it's specifically the SG Standard which is more expensive than the Les Paul studio or Jr, so it doesn't appear to be price
Great vid as usual guys. Gotta admit I enjoyed the newer DS-1. I thought it sounded fuller and a little more articulate. Didn’t expect that. Usually RU-vid examples of the DS-1 do not do it any favours. The Burnley also sounded great to my ears. Oh btw, Remedy..... nice. Thanks guys.
I really enjoyed the DS1 comparison. I preferred the newer one or though they were very similar. It's funny how we (I) tend to accept the assumption that older is better is guitar world. It would be great to see more vintage vs modern version pedal comparisons.
Thanks for another informative show guys. For me, it illustrated that elusive thing called “character.” All the pedals sounded great but the OG DS-1 and the Thorpy had the mix of chaos and warmth that give them a personality missing in the others.

I've Been Using The Bogner Burnley For A Full Year It's My all Time Favorite Distortion Pedal I Use A Digitech Whammy V And A Fulltone Clyde Wah Deluxe 9v-18v (Mostly 9v and 12v) with the Buffer On In Front Of The Burnley And It Sounds Phenomanel
I’d pick the burley and the keeley ds all day. Keeley can get all the ds sounds(new & old) and the burley has that grab and go ease of use and wide useable spectrum on that tone knob that would work for most back line amps. Great vid.
+brandon caleb it’s interesting when hearing this back because it certainly didn’t sound like this in the room. We’re going to look at this later but there is some classic mic’ing techniques for these sorts of tones that we’re going to get into
I just wacthed the UA Ox, great device, but what I am looking for is how can I connect my Guitar+Pedalboard (analog) into a Mixer properly. I want to create a home studio and sometimes reharsal with not amps, just headphones (we have a Roland E Drum). Thanks

I think that's why it's so great. T-REX Effects market the Mudhoney as a distortion but I think it's similar to the RAT in having a range that starts in "overdrive" territory, rips through "distortion" territory and ends up in the lighter end of "fuzz" territory.
My favourite dirt pedal is the Maxon SD-9 which is one of the pedals the Keeley is based off. Great pedal, and used by Mike Landau, which is how I first discovered it.

A DS-1 demo without an Ibanez or a Yamaha?? All that talk about the Kramers with the FRs too! (Kramer+FR was my first guitar as well.it was white though)..... congrats on the 335, a welcome addition to the shed no doubt!
Only thing I wish you guys would do is add a little delay or verb to these tones sometimes. They sound really dry and not so nice...I think you would like these pedals a lot more with a clean hot rod style amp, a hair of delay, lower the gain, and throw a ts or boost in front of them. That’s how you can use distortions for things other than 80’s hair Metal, example: David Gilmour. Using these with a dirty amp makes them all sound more or less like the dirty amp! Keep on Rockin gents, love these

Yep, can sound a bit scrappy. The weird thing is that in a live environment it’s be that sound that would cut and the humbuckers start to get lost. Hundreds of function bands up and down the land prove it every weekend. :0)

Lemme tell ya boys, as far as the "legend" pedals are concerned the Bogner's Harlow & Wessex are beauts too. & as soon as I can spend 250 bucks on the Lyndhurst without the missus finding out, I'll report back
If those two DS-1's sound similar, it's only because Boss must have updated those pedals very recently - I guarantee if you pick one up that's about 10 years old now - you'd notice a massive difference.
My amp did not jive with the bogner which makes me sad. It just didn’t sound good and didn’t have enough gain (maybe because I’m using a high headroom 100w clean)
