Welcome to Assertive Acquisitions, the series where Capac, TheFinalEvent97 (or TFE if you're lazy like me) and I will be making every effort to acquire the unique ASSERT thrusters which can only be stolen from NPCs and using these to assemble a ship of our own.

When you have a grid attached to your ship via connectors only, your ship's dampeners will not compensate for the additional weight. The cargo container was heavily loaded, so it was severely dragging you down. Tip: Never trust the dampeners when you have a grid attached and regularly do a break test while descending to get a good feeling of the situation. Tip2: If the planet allows it, add parachutes to both the ship and attached grids. If you keep falling, drop a attached grid and have it deploy its parachutes, if you still keep falling after dropping all grids, deploy your ship's parachutes.

the only ship that capac is flying back is a ship thats just 1 big cube of heavy armor: 15 layers thick with capac and the cockpit entombed in the middle. eddited to add: I also love the sentence at 9:23: "[...]We see how much money we get, if we have enough we could get an upgrade we could go down to the planet, see *if it has one of those things we want on it so that we can get the stuff we need*" yes splitsie. very clear instructions. as expected of our great leader O7

I remember when Capac was rebuilding the shuttle he didn't want to add a survival kit because it would break the air tightness, so you built it on something else

I think you should add some Ai to capacs fighter so that when the cockpit breaks it will automatically fly a sit out side the skywarp or better yet have capac auto damp to it and fly him into the asteroid at 100 meters a second

37:50 I have this happen sometimes unsure why. Turning off all downward thrust seems to restore the dampener function.

But also, dampeners very commonly fail to take account of the mass of connected grids in a gravity field, and thus will only fire the thrusters sufficiently to offset the weight of the main grid.

I think it's a mix of both, Capac forgetting there's no survival kit, dampeners failing and sacrificing the cargo and most of its contents to klang was a natural chain of events. The group deciding that respawning back at the asteroid base and bringing a second ship planetside was the boring solution to this problem should be the storytelling part. Besides, it's also a way to soft reset the series a bit, change the pace and keep it fresh so nobody burns out on it. This could be used to add a 4th member to the crew with a 'lore' reason like a scientist of the research station wants to defect. Even if it's just as a temporary crew member for a few episodes.

Maybe try for Capack and everyone else put cockpit at the back. For sniping you using camera any way and thirdperson camera is even better then first person at CQC, alteast for me. Under 400 m paralax isnt that big of an issue. Also you can put more cameras in case one gonna blow up. Dont forget to cover them under glass to add protection.

Good planning and prep with the large cargo container just to smash it, then finding out there is no survival kit, then the closing enemies and ensuing land battle, and with all that you guys lived! Loved the tension, great episode!

Check his other series like "RVs at War" or "The Scrapyard". Each episode is ~5 hours long. The paces are different but still very interesting.

Splitsie, do you habitually only lock merge blocks at angles that would have them pull away from you rather than angles where they'd push into you? Because Capac seems to be having this problem a lot but I can't remember many of your various subgrid and merge block antics doing this. I think I'll miss the Tiny Fish, it's a funny looking ship. It's very interesting that ASSERT is using ground vehicles to attack, given their penchant for remote control. Either whatever's in that station is quite important, or they're quite stuck in with this war against ARC. Possibly both, if ARC moving into the area was a development that followed the research base's placement there. With the snow, white fog, and red lakes, this planet has quite a striking color pallete, and is also likely quite bad for aerial manuvering when that thick fog comes in. As good an excuse as any to build rovers (and crash them into trees and other rovers). Hopefully the shuttle doesn't need a full refinery strapped to it, though, lest it become another Marlin by the time you get back.

Question: are those rovers a part of the mod, or are they playermade/driven serving like the folks you got on the ASSERT ships you board? Also, something I might suggest when using fighters that have both light and heavy weapons (particularly to capac, given his fighting style and role): I often set a button on my hotbar in one of the first four slots set to "fire once" the heavy weapons. That way I can fire them while also firing the automatic weapons - you won't get the lead indicator adjustment for them, so for sniping you still want to use them normally, but if you're up in close quarters combat you can try and get a really big hit to take out the drone/fighter you're up against all at once without sacrificing your sustained fire to do so, making the risk of missing with the oversized weapon a matter only of resources.

Kan't Believe this never occurred to me until now.!! One thing Space Engineers is missing, and all mechanical engineers deal with are .. Gears! I know, I know .. might difficult in a game where u literally use blocks to build with, but would be so awesome, even if there were limited choices. We already have wheels in the game and they work in a 'similar' way as far as interaction is concerned. so coding gears would just be a matter of redesigning a block with minimal amount of additional interaction coding. But for example. u have a 'gear' block. this allows u to place gears on any face (and each one will rotate any other attached to the block IF that option is set in the gear options, otherwise it free turns). this would eliminate trying to figure out how to 'Mount the gear'. And with the gears being separate 'blocks' you can mount different sized gears in all three planes. These gears can also be mounted on rotors turning them into motors. would be even coler if you could switch a tooth on and off (present or absent) to allow 'interval' gearing.

Along with the other suggestions, try checking overrides just in case Even the smallest override will turn of dampening for that axis Though in this case I feel the other suggestion of desync may be valid since you probably would have noticed dampeners behaving strangely before this (though it is capac, I can see that being missed)

I'd think it'd be cool if you just rolled off the asteroid entrance with a tank each, and relied on parachutes to make the landing health and safety compliant. Maybe have one of them more HQ-oriented with 1-3 escape capsules so you can return to orbit. :)

Capac's logic "I'm supposed to die" tbf he does have a point.... if he didn't get shot or die, or blow stuff up... how else are you going to justify #blamecapac, cos if none of that happens no one could realistically blame him for things that happened at the same instance whereby he would be in the area, involved in or linked to something that went horribly wrong 😀 so technically without Capac doing things in order for him to become responsible for... the #blamecapac case could not happen, so he is really to blame for things that go wrong and for the whole blamecapac subject entirely... lol

Yeah, it was something I did for my livestream on April 1st (which is when we recorded this) which I forgot to remove afterwards :P Unfortunately it's not something that can be done as a mod, I had to actually replace a game file to make it work

The thing where the thrusters are firing but the ship still descents unless you press a button I usually have when I have my ship mag plate/landing gear locked to a sub grid and then disconnect that sub grid from my base or another ship. If I first disconnect the sub grid and then lock my ship to it it's fine. It's some weird SE code thing I think.

Splitsie's fighters have an American look about them, with blended angles and shapes. Capacs' have a British thickness to them like a Churchill tank. TFE on the other hand has a more Soviet industrial style :D

Watching that footage back about 5 and 1/2 minutes in, I am 85% sure that lag of some sort is causing Capac to shoot himself. I saw no incoming tracers and the bullet strike sounds perfectly coincide with him firing his gatling guns.

We came to the same conclusion with his fighter, I eventually got him to modify it and it has seemed to help, but not as much as hoped because Capac is still Capac :P

I have found out the reason the transport crashed. As it turns out, if you have ice and an o2 h2 generator on at the same time, you are instantly brought down almost like ur dampeners are off. The effect instantly stops when to generator is off. I still haven’t found out why this is. It is not a problem of weight, and may just be a bug. Either way, this will certainly be an entertaining new chapter in AA!

I'm with Capac on this one (I am as concerned as you are) the idea of in an emergency having multiple steps (setting a primary remote control) is counter intuitive. No one being shot at should have to engage logical brain :D
