Welcome to Assertive Acquisitions, the series where Capac, TheFinalEvent97 (or TFE if you're lazy like me) and I will be making every effort to acquire the unique ASSERT thrusters which can only be stolen from NPCs and using these to assemble a ship of our own.

I suspect that Capac isn't doing his normal loot-goblin self and hunting down the Research Points before you get them, Splitsie, is because you then get you upgrades for your suit - so You are the one to go into the bases and clear them out. A Capac Clone with a sense of self-preservation - who'd have believed it?

@<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1500">25:00</a> One thing I've started doing on nearly _all_ of my ships (well, the ones with fixed guns, at least) is putting gyro strength controls on my hotbar, so I can dynamically reduce gyro strength while zoomed far in for sniping like that. Makes it so much easier to precisely aim.

Fascinating that Splitsie, while supposedly looking for the personnel suppression field, cleared the turrets in the research point room from the air. I'm certain it was an honest mistake and a happenstance of convenience, of course. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1804">30:04</a> This is so incredibly cinematic, particularly Splitsie's fighter launching low. I must agree with the others, the 10 kg half sub implies the full sub is a 20 kg monstrosity. At least they also have ASSERT thrusters, getting this series back on track, since there's been a lack of gathering those for a bit. Notably, the inhibitor field suit inhibitor works by vastly increasing your energy consumption when in range, but rather than simply guaranteeing a simultaneous freeze to death, suffocation and inhibitor effect when your power drains, it just cuts off at 50% energy each time - so you are on a limited time frame to get to and disable the field, and using the grinder is ill-advised. I vaguely remember the upgrade description decreases the power usage with each tier. The temporary ones, which you've encountered before, work on similarly tight and energy-inefficent limitations.

About how those inhibitor fields do and don't hurt you, I don't know if you noticed, but I did : both times they started hurting you it was *exactly* as your suit power hit 50% (which also drained quite quickly in range of it). Based on that I believe your anti-anti-personnel suit upgrade uses your suit power to cancel it but only as long as you have sufficient reserves (I guess to preserve some for life support? Seems kinda moot given what it does lol). So I posit that you can probably get as close as you want so long as you have the suit power, either by disembarking closer, going faster, or maybe by carrying powerkits

I have a thought: Capac got lost once, and TFE was lost once too. What if Splitsie gets himself lost, what a show would that be how he finds his way back, and what he discovers Capac and TFE have done while he was not around!

Instead of a bridge, build a travelling lift. Place a hinge in the center of the ravine, build a piston stalk on it to another hinge and a rotor, then build some sort of grabby device on the second hinge. Grab the rover, pivot it over the ravine. Way more unnecessarily complicated and more subject to Klang's Law than a mere "bridge." Just think of the possibilities for instantaneous and spactacular energy conversions!

I wish turrets where stabilised so every move wouldnt triger motion sicknes. Any way for atmo interceptor i recomend atmo-hydro hybrid. 1 smallgrid big tank should keep you high enough so you can easily disarm any freighter.

Its really cool that these other people are able to add STORY to the show. Not necessarily because I want this to suddenly become a scripted thing, that would take a lot of the spontaneous hilarity out of it, and it would become like watching an animated series, but under the false impression [by some at least] that it was supposed to be a completely impromptu, make-it-up-as-we-go type role play. Also, I agree, to a limited extent, making a bridge over a ravine seems rather what space engineers would be better known for, than just getting lost in the woods... [HOP HOP HOP!] 🐰🐇

You may have disconnected its conveyor line, but the turret probably still had ammo loaded prior to you cutting it off.

My assumption (incorrectly) had been that by removing the conveyor line, I'd disconnected it from the base and power so thought it would be completely inert :P

I honestly don't know if they can function at all when player owned, it wouldn't have much use for us in this series anyway as the players who fill the role of NPCs are more interestingly faced properly rather than murdered by a block like that :D

The save died, as shown at the end of the last episode we were experiencing very frequent crashes (every 2 minutes or so). We tried a lot of stuff (Nev knows his way around these sorts of things, which isn't surprising since he regularly fixed the terraforming mod during our run) and none of it fixed it so we had to end it there :( I've been running a solo playthrough on Venus over on twitch and you can find the vods over on my second channel ru-vid.com :)

It's one of the downsides of a super flat planet, there's just so much room for bases to spawn so they kinda pop up everywhere. Since they're mostly research bases we can avoid them when we want to though :)

Which part of the behaviour do you mean? Of note, we play with my long range searchlights mod which allows them to project light to 800m :)

@@Splitsie you have the light cone in a beam format, even on your scrapyard series you have it acting like a laser pointer and as of yet i have not been able to replicate that effect. I was wondering what setting encourages that.

That's the mod, by increasing the range without modifying the arc it becomes a more narrow beam. I've since learnt how to modify the arc in the mod but decided I liked them this way

No, the width of the beam. It's not something you can change in game, it can only be changed by a mod
