1) I’m so very impressed that you were able to refrain from using the phrase, “Sub-ba lubba dub dub.” That shows true restraint. 2) The subject matter, handling, and timing (yeah, I use Oxford commas. Come at me, bros.) of this video is really well handled. I greatly appreciate the multiple levels of your videos, and it’s representative of a channel that has the potential to really take off. And I should know. I have the IQ required to appreciate Rick and Morty.
I loved this video:) I used to be a Rick and Morty fan - but I have to admit I couldn't finish the last season. Somehow it didn't click with me. Living in Europe, I barely heard of the sauce-gate - it does ring a bell, though. Anyways, I love the personal side of the story, it makes it so relatable:)
An officially licensed McDonald's podcast about the Rick & Morty sauce incident that doesn't once mention Rick & Morty is... absolutely slaying me. How did I not hear about this?? Holy shit.
I didn't go out for sauce at the absurd limited release, but did manage to get some. At first on eBay and then you could just get it at McDonalds. I actually think it is a decent sauce and they should rotate it with other seasonal sauces, or keep some around. The frustrating thing for me is I can't remember if I had it during the release of Mulan. I went to see Mulan with my Disney buddy, but can't remember if we hit McDonalds after. But anyway people forget that "fan" is short for "fanatic" and it isn't just R&M fans that behave that way, football hooligans and other sport riots, paparazzi etc.
The original "15k" ebay sale never took place. It was faked transaction between two accounts owned by the same person. That person then pushed "news" of the sale to several outlets, along with promoting it on their own social media channels, and it was presented to the public as a legitimate transaction. McDonalds Facebook in Germany also gave away 10 250ml bottles in a horrendously confused contest, months before the US McDonald's presented the 64oz jugs.
That is so interesting! Do you have a link to an article or somewhere where I can read more about it? Either way... it sounds like mcdonalds had no clue what they were doing 💀
I remember the sauce day very vividly. It wasn't even that good 😅 But also, dying at the fact they very clearly hired a Voice Actor that usually does their commercials to just read the podcast script. The asmr lid peel followed immediately by the crunch that could NEVER come from a McDonald's fry absolutely sent me 😭 But anyway, another 30/10 video! 🙌
SERIOUSLY if my mcdonalds fry was that crunchy i would be really, really concerned, like, those would be BURNT and IS SHE THE COMMERCIAL VA?! i am losing it. i'm gonna need to do this deep dive play by play after all... THANK YOU
@@AllironTalks if she's not the McDonald's voice she most definitely has done commercial before and they just didn't care if she sounded completely unnatural 🤣
@@ohheyitlex that makes a lot of sense. She definitely has commercial narration voice. In the podcast episode she's like "I've spent weeks getting to the bottom of this" ... like no I think mcdonalds gave you a script and they spent weeks piecing this together
Rick and Morty is one of those things I've always seen from the outside. Chris will tell you what a weeb I am, but western animated shows have never appealed to me. So this was a double treat to hear a little more about a show I don't know and an event that I don't know. And you were there! That's so cool. Pretty much the only interesting things I did at that age were because of magic the gathering, or because I was somewhere with Chris.
You know, I'm kinda on the same train. I never watched family guy or south park or anything like that. I watched rick and morty with my college roommate on his recommendation, its definitely not something I would've watched. But I LOVE the absurd, so here we are!
