He still would have been fired he was treated just like Jim Harbaugh, wanted a little more control over the roster decisions. So the Yorks fired him after two seasons making the playoffs. So they could hire their yes man. Niners SUCKED for 8 years with three different head coaches. After Harbaugh got fired Yorks got tired of winning again, so they hired three head coaches in three years. Niners SUCKED four years. Yorks will keep Kyle Shanahan as head coach in his four years only one winning season. The Yorks owners who hate to win. Who misses Eddie DeBartolo!
Hypotheticals. What if the tuck game never happens does Brady have 7 Super Bowls?? In saying that he’s the goat, but we always over look the little events that transform us into who we are.
He still didn't have that great play in college and developed a lot after going pro. I credit Bill with seeing the potential (which he first realised when one of his mentor's who's name I can't remeber was the only analyst talking about Brady's potential). Remeber that Brady started off year one as the 4th string QB and year two as the 3rd string (when they only had 3 on the roster). Not to mention that during that time everyone was going after athletic QBs (thanks to the likes of Joe Montana, Steve Young, younger Brett Favre, Randall Cunningham, Watren Moon, John Elway, Kurt Warner, Jim Haurbaugh, etc). In fact that continued since and the QBs jn the NFL have become progressively more athletic. Some of the notable first rounders in the few following years were Ben Rothelisbsrg, Phillip Rivers, Aaron Rodgers, Alex Smith, Michael Vick, Carson Palmer, Vince Young, Drew Brees, David Carr, and Jamarcus Russell. Nowadays in the 2010s a non athletic QB almost never goes in the first few rounds and especially not the first (with the notable exceptions of Brandon Weeden who was already 28 by the time's the Browns got him). The spread is a part of all playbooks nowaday's including the Patriot's who frequent 2 TE set's when in that formation. QB run's and options are in more than half of NFL playbooks. And recently the RPO's have been taking off big time with 1/3 of the league running them. Accorsing to Saquan Barkley even the Giant's playbook even features option play's despite them having Eli Manning (which they never actually ran this past season).
@@Axel-ye8tt Thats the great thing about Bill. If you know something he doesn't, he'll take your word rather than shut you down "cause he's the boss". No, he's always willing to listen.
Can you imagine if the 49ers went from Joe Montana to Steve Young to Tom Brady? They'd have been #1 in the NFL for SIX decades straight- with 14 Super Bowl titles- as Brady would've beat Mahomes last year too.
No matter how many times Steve Mariucci tells the story, his headstone will read here lies Steve Mariucci god rest his soul the man who passed up Tom Brady in the draft.
Yeah but everybody did..tom was only great because he was drafted to New England. Plus he was a bad prospect let's be real, he went where he was supposed to.
The 49ers would of made Tom’s boy hood dream come true if they just drafted him. The same with Aaron Rodgers. Why Mike Nowin says Aaron wasn’t coachable is very a very strange excuse.
@@fabianadeyemi5242 yea football especially at qb who has to rely on other positions to protect and get open, and execute the designed plan is much more difficult to assess than a high flying basketball player. Brady is brilliant at see through defense and changing up plays before the snap. But I doubt he would have won that many if the organization didn't draft top tier o-line to make his job easier.
The bottom line is - the teams that picked QB's ahead of Brady were simply going for the ATHLETIC (muscular) look and they all assumed that when you LOOK the part - you must be cast for the part. They failed to realize that the BRAIN is the most import component in sports.
I get some of the reasons Brady was overlooked in the draft. But when you look at what he did at Michigan it’s still hard to understand why he was almost completely overlooked like he didn’t exist
Mooch brought up an important point - they were looking for a particular QB, and that's what they got. They didn't want Brady's style, so they passed over him.
@@richardfrench2863 to be fair…. they were looking for a future steve young. Thinking that’s the way the league was going to go. Instead of another Joe Montana. 🤷🏼♂️
Hofstra which doesn’t even have a football program any longer over the guy who beat Alabama in the sugar bowl. How hard can football be? How did he not know Brady was awesome when he was at Michigan? Amazing
Mariucci said in The Brady Six, "looks like he's never seen a weight room". Seriously? You couldn't get him in a weight room? I watch replays of the Orange Bowl, the "brightest lights, the biggest stage", and Brady was nearly perfect. How that man, or all the others, could not see that still amazes me. They never looked into Henson situation. It was all about trying to keep Henson past his sophomore year. Very stupid on Boy Lloyds part. Brady was always excellent. The NFL scouts were seriously negligent. I'm from Michigan and am a Michigan fan and a MSU fan.. Sadly, also a Lions fan. That's the only team that may have destroyed Tom Brady. Thank God for The Patriots.
@@biglez5577 if you don't count the Browns plus this awful year which nobody expected to do well and if anything we should've done worse to tank he has a winning record sans Brady
@@WaterGuyH2O counting Cleveland is fucking dumb though, don't act like that's some sudden knock against anyone when we all know Cleveland makes anyone look bad until like a year ago lol. If you enjoy being dumb feel free I guess though
@@paulgaither you can be successful and admit previous mistakes. You're actually more likely tp be sucfessfuk if you are honest with your mistakes and learn from them.
I remember as a teenager the Michigan logo was popular in school. So I would watch Brady play and he had that fire in him. Never expected him to make it to the NFL.
He almost told the truth. The truth is nobody knows shit about drafting quarterbacks. The Colts drafted Manning number 1 and the Chargers drafted Leaf number 2 in the 98 draft. The last couple years the NFL has just had fewer busts in the first round. Which speaks to quarterbacks being better prepared for the NFL. Not that the people drafting are better drafters of the position.
@@samuelstensgaard4828 My dad and I are Vikings fans, we live in Minnesota. We both looked at him the first time and said, "He's going to be injury prone." He has/had a thin build that we didn't like. Our assessment proved correct.
It’s not like Tom Brady was supposed to ever even get consistent playing time in the league let alone becoming the goat carmazzi was a pretty great athlete who should’ve fit in will with the Niners
Like one poster on here said, he wouldn’t even want his QB athletic. Not a ridiculous statement. Now first off, Tom Brady is an athletic guy. Just not as athletic as many other QBs. Obviously the criteria or metrics to identify QBs might need to be looked at. I’m sure Tom Brady is forced many scouts and coaches to take a hard look at what really is important. Tom has so many intangible qualities that play into his success. He obviously believes in his own abilities. But this in itself is a subject that needs to be addressed. What leads to this kind of belief in oneself. He understands himself better than other QB. He learns quicker, he adjusts to change better, handles pressure like no one else. And there is much more. As you can see none of this relates to the physical capabilities. What sets Tom Brady apart is the same thing that Arnold Schwarzenegger has, and ever high achiever possesses in every realm of life. It’s their emotional make-up, which of course is regulated in the brain. Tom Brady is cool as a cucumber in that pocket. Ice runs through his veins. As you can see his emotions do not rule his mind. He is highly disciplined beyond his rivals. You can see it in the work ethic. It’s in his eating, sleeping, training regimens. His mind his in control and he knows how to deploy his mind for every single thing he does.
Marriuci made the classic mistake, instead of evaluating all the players and picking the best one. He decided what he needed and picked what he thought was the best option from that pool of players.
3 of the 4 Cal Qbs lost in SB. Goff hasn't played yet. In the meantime one University has had 8 appearances for one QB and 5MVP's, Desmond one TB 4. Brandon Graham deserved one last year and Brady deserved one more.
Joe Montana and joe theisman and both notre dame guys they probably got one more I can’t remember (the golden boy played some qb their but was the rb for that packers team)
The thing about Tom, for me, is it makes me ask myself two questions. First, landing in New England was the perfect environment for him and then Drew gets injured; right place, right time. There are so many factors that worked out for and allowed him to shine but what if he was drafted by the 49ers, or Bengals, or Cleveland, etc.? He might have very well ended his career in obscurity; never getting a chance to either play or even be taken seriously as a backup. The second question, for me, is how many other guys from the later rounds never had those two factors (opportunity and nurturing conditions) working for them and so found themselves after a few years out of the league? Don't just think Brady; think Ryan Fitzpatrick. By now you can say he has at the very least made a career for himself in the NFL and all because the high-pick"STAR" QB's in front of him in Buffalo turned out to be duds.
Mooch Rich Primetime Irvin Sapp Faulk Theisman etc…they all paved the way for the NFL network and were a hilarious staff! Man I miss them as a unit. Like great teams they all went their own ways. But mannnn it was comedic GOLD. RU-vid Danny Woodhead NFL network Theisman. One of the funniest segments and that was just 1! The closest thing to it now is Shaq Kenny Chuck and Ernie 🏀. Those guys are funny too 😂. But imagine a football version of that with an even bigger cast. The Tebow chants 😂😂. TeeeEEEE Bo. WHOAAAAAAAA OH! (RU-vid Tebow chant oh oh).
Don't feel bad Mooch. Every other team passed on Brady too, and the Patriots just got lucky. If the Patriots had any idea Brady was going to be great they would have taken him a lot sooner. They just signed Bledsoe to a big contract extension and at the time just thought Brady would be a solid career backup. It's just proof nobody knows what is going to happen with any prospect. Look at Brock Purdy. If they could re-draft the '22 class Purdy might be the first pick overall, definitely top 10.
How about which university has the most WINNING super bowl quarterbacks? (Cal only has 1.) Alabama/Purdue have 3, and BYU/Notre Dame/Stanford have 2 each.
