I once had a friend explain why Elvis was the King of Rock & Roll. In 1973 he broadcast a concert live around the world. One billion people tuned in live, no matter day or night, as it happened. The worlds population was four billion at the time. That means 1/4 of the earth’s population stopped their lives to watch Elvis. Only the King could do that.
@thechoshow12

I'm an Elvis fan and it was a false story from his manager about 1 billion people. The concert was only showed live in some countries and shown delayed by days, weeks in other countries. He is still the greatest though.

@@Great-Documentaries You don't have to insult someone just because you think they're old. And Elvis was still selling sold out shows right till his very last concert, so I guess he wasn't that irrelevant. His home is declared a National Historic Landmark, with still over half a million visitors each years. This summer, even after all the movies and documentaries made about his life, there's still a new Elvis biopic coming in 2022. So you can dislike and knock him down all you want, but this guy is still a long way from being irrelevant yet.

They have only watched “In the Ghetto” live in concert, and only a few performances recorded live, the Frank Sinatra duet “Love Me Tender/Witchcraft” and “If I Can Dream”. “Blue Suede Shoes” was a lip-sync for a motion picture screen test, “Wooden Heart” from a movie, and they listened to the studio versions of “Little Sister”, “Santa Claus is Back in Town”, and “Suspicious Minds”. For “Jailhouse Rock”, like most reactors, they chose the blurry inferior quality upload that says (Music Video) instead of the crystal clear TCM version. I would LOVE for them to go back to Elvis’ professional beginning in 1954-55 at Sun Records. “That’s All Right”, “Mystery Train”, “Blue Moon”, “Baby, Let’s Play House” and then all the great stuff from his breakout year of 1956 like “I Want You, I Need You, I Love You”.

Elvis hated being called "The King". He stated there is only one King. His name is Jesus Christ. Only Grammys that Elvis had ever won were in Gospel Music.

FYI, Elvis singing "How Great Thou Art" brings goose bumps til this day. I was a major fan of his when a little girl. He actually DIED on my *9th* birthday, so he's been in my blood since I first heard "Hound Dog", looking at the BLUE record in his Moody Blues album right after he died & to this day!

Elvis was the greatest. He was just absolutely iconic! I've listened to his music on and off for years. I followed his career like most people that were fans of his did. He went from dirt poor to having so much money it was oozing out of his pores. Why because of all that talent and that voice and the good looks 💜 Plus he was very nice and charming!

In my opinion, Elvis is the greatest singer ever. The man spanned across many different genres from Rock and Roll to Country, Pop, Gospel, Jazz, you name it, the man could do it all! No other singer has ever spawned as many imitators, and no one can do what he did the way he did it! There are very few singers out there who are so unique that you instantly recognize their voice no matter what song they are singing, but Elvis is one of them. He loved what he did and it showed and was infectious. A true showman!

The man has one of the most diverse ranges as a singer. Most other singers have success in one singing voice. Think of Neil Diamond, Roy Orbison, and even Tom Jones to a degree. Nothing wrong with that at all. I love all their music. As much as he is talked about though, Elvis is still really underrated as a vocalist. BTW, I believe the great Ronnie Milsap is playing piano on this song. You might want to check out Smokey Mountain Rain by Ronnie.

True, although he is probably the most celebrated performer of all time, people focus too much on the white suits he used to wear in his later years, and in the hairstyle, but forget to actually listen to his singing. Elvis as a singer is massively underrated.

I was 10 years old in 1977, and it was going pretty good. Star Wars came out, great summer. School started in the fall and I came home after school one day and my mother was sitting on the couch bawling like a baby! I said, "Mom, what's wrong!?" She told me Elvis had passed away and I started crying as well; bad day. One of my earliest memories is watching the worldwide concert with mom and dad. I might have been four. Yes, he is the GOAT!

Elvis was like no other. I cried as a teen when he passed away. In NYC I used to always rush after school to watch repeats of his movies on tv. “Love Me Tender”, “Viva Las Vegas” songs were early ones (50s and 60s) and “A Little Less Conversation” started the 70s. His background singers, The Sweet Inspirations included Whitney Houston’s mother , Cissy Houston. 💕
