You are right about the lyrics. But please look Vinni up and hear the astounding scope of his voice.

Oh! I love Vinny. I usually don't like very high voices because they can be screechy. But his voice is so pure and clear. You need to watch his Scarborough Fair. Unbelievable. And, of course, those eyes. Oof! You should thank Rula many, many times for introducing you.

As someone 10 years out of an abusive and controlling relationship, these lyrics hit very close to home. My mindset was similar to that put out through this song. Itt hits very close and yet is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us, and thank you Rula for requesting this

I think exactly the same about the lyrics as you (also about Vinny's performance). Wikipedia reports Hozier saying it's (at least in part) about the difficultly of facing up to domestic violence.

This song has a lot of emotional ties for me, the Hozier version firstly but this version just blew my mind when I first heard it. The original version feels more like the singer is saying that the woman is the victim and the man is the perpetrator. However, something about the way that Vinny sings this always makes me feel like the man is the victim, which I think really shows how Hozier's lyrics are universal AND is an incredible message to put into the world: Men can be victims too. Vinny is an incredible artist and for anyone who isn't a fan of this particular song but loves his voice, I can highly recommend his original work "Hoodie You Stole". I'm so glad you got to hear this one DJ, and sorry for the distraction with the very pretty man! I love that you don't shy away from hard hitting songs...although I do seem to be the one that puts some of the worst in front of you so...sorry!

Vinnies own songs are often kind of dark as well, sometimes he changes lyrics of the covers he does too. But I know Cherry Whine is anyway about abusive relationship. But he has such amazing voice and his looks.... argh dammit. Haha he is also super funny with his YT shorts, just love this spark in his eyes like his inner child is wide awake. He is so wholesome so pure, bless those who are close to him, I probably couldnt be without getting weak knees lol. Kidding. ;)
