Season one is extraordinary, season two is best, season 3 is good, season four is missing something else(Harry Wells) , season five is awesome, after that tragedy
90% of all Barry vs Thawne interactions-especially when, no disrespect for Matt Letscher, Tom Cavanagh is portraying Thawne-are absolutely electric. Tom and Grant just have incredible chemistry. They bring out the best in each other.
Flash almost pleads with him to find out why he hates him so much. And he just answers "it doesn't matter." That says everything about reverse flash. It doesn't matter if it's a version of him from a different timeline, or the past or future. He hates Barry down to his core.
When the writers have dialogue and response that says “doesnt matter” to such a pivotal and important question, and the protagonist not only accepts that mediocre answer but never brings it up again for 9 more seasons…thats when you know since day 1 this show was written by amateurs working for a garbage network like the CW who should have Never ever been given a single right to any DC characters to butcher.
@@Ryvaken Where did i say DC did it better? I am very confused can you show me proof where i said that? DC in totality is garbage from top to bottom. The fact that they entrusted their IPs to a sac of shit network like CW should tell you everything you need to know. But what you have to understand is that those dumbasses had excellent source material from the comics and they shat all over it. Thawne was Flash’s biggest fan. All he wanted to do was become the Flash. He created a paradox in on itself by making himself a speedster and going back in time to meet his hero, but as he went back, his color of suit reversed, his brain activity was affected by the massive time jump and that being done so soon when he just got his powers, and he arrived in the past realizing he has inadvertently become a self-fulfilled prophecy by assuming the role of the Flash’s biggest villain, & Barry, who didnt know any better, just treated him as he would treat his biggest enemy and thus their battle began. This creates an entanglement that can only be resolved at the birth of the paradox. But can the CW writers fathom anything close to that? No of course not. Theyre too busy stuffing the show with woke garbage and Virtue signalling. Get it? Virtue signalling. Virtue. Fuck you CW.
The scary part is, I'm sure Thawne was truly honest and genuine in this moment and meant every word about letting Barry save his mother, stop him and even on some level, let go of his hatred for Barry. However his future self knew of what would happen if someone were to change the course of time, the ripple effect it would have. Damn shame
Ok don't save your mom just let Eobard Thawne go home. We all should go home. Never keep someone held captive even if that person is pure evil. Let him go home.
so we can say that in the final season Barry (s9) forgives Thawne and understands that the end point of his story with him, while Thawne understands and wants to be forgiven by Barry (s1) in the first season, only this Barry (s1) is too angry to understand the change.
id like to think it this way, thawne made him, he was destined to travel back in time kill Barry's mom, then lose his power and make the flash so he can go back. whatever he does fate will fck him up til he travels back in time and fulfill his destiny.
@@ramsesiv5342 No, Thawne mentioned when he was about to kill Wells that the particle accelerator was originally supposed to be finished in 2020. Plus, there was also the 2024 news article detailing Crisis and Flash's disappearance. Thawne did alter a lot from the timeline he came from.
they did, regular harrison wells made the particle accelerator and it blew up a couple years later than RF did after that RF got jealous and recreated the experiment that happened to barry and it gave him the same powers, he traveled through time and saw that he was destined to become one of flashes main villains, after that he went crazy and fought flash until he went back in time, tried to stop barry from ever becoming the flash and then realizing when he removed the flash, he removed the reason why he got his powers, so now he needs barry to become the flash and help him get back to the future
Tbf, it was always going to be some batshit crazy stuff that probably wouldn't matter in any concrete way to Barry outside of showing Thawne is crazy. Not like Barry will hear "I setup a bunch of people to die and you saved them taking my thunder" and go oh I was the one who messed up, you aren't a totally unreasonable insane person.
The best part is that Thawne’s reason in the comics for hating Barry is so cool and complex. He becomes the Flash in the distant future but because everything is managed and planned and whatnot there’s no crime to stop or opportunities for him to save people. Thawne gets upset that he has no one to save with a crowd to make an impression on so he starts pushing people off buildings or in the way of engineered disasters for the Flash (him) to “save”. He eventually learns that he is never destined to become a hero but instead the Reverse Flash, defined not as a hero but as the greatest enemy of The real Flash. This realization drives him crazy and sparks his hatred of Barry.
Thawne kinda paradox’d himself. If Barry never becomes the Flash, then he wouldn’t harness the Negative Speedforce because there was no drive to do and the Speedforce have to exist so the Negative Speedforce can exist.
Problem with what your saying is that one did exist without the other. Barry unintentionally killed the Positive Speedforce shortly after Crisis on Infinite Earths. The Negative Speedforce didn't die.
@@joeyellis850 One doesn’t die when the other dies. My original comment wasn’t about the actual forces existing. Instead, it’s about Thawne’s motivation. But the negative forces are a bit quirky. Apparently, timeline-changes doesn’t affect the negative Speedforce. So back the the original question. Yes, the positive and negative Speedforce do co-exist but I don’t think that are connected. One can die, and it does mess with the balance but I think the universe always correct itself so it eventually comes back to live.
You know i read that in the comics the reason why Eobard killed Barry's mom is because he lost his own mother as a kid and wanted to give Barry the same childhood tragedy that he had as part of his revenge.
He killed her because in the future they are enemies so Thawne goes to the past and tries to kill barry but barry comes to the past as well and saves his past self so Thawne decides to just kill Barry's mother, Nora.
He killed her because in the future they are enemies so Thawne goes to the past and tries to kill barry but barry comes to the past as well and saves his past self so Thawne decides to just kill Barry's mother, Nora.
I feel this Thawne was a bit repentive, he had lived so long looking over Barry that he saw his hate was all for not, but it was already too late. No matter what, a version of him would come and haunt Barry, so he had no choice but to correct what he did and "create" The Flash, and justify it as a way to get home, but in esence, he had given up a long time ago and decided to do one thing he would never do willingly: Give Barry a win one way or another: save his mother or stop him, either one leads to The Flash.
then they retcon it from "I idolized you only to travel back in time and realise we were destined to be enemies" the flash museum origin story from the comics changing it to "I created my own speedforce and then you embarrassed me by saving the day when I was going to reveal myself."
"What if you were to suffer a tragedy. What if you were to suffer something so traumatic that your child self could never recover. Then you could not become the Flash." Thawne must be from a timeline where no one ever figures out who Batman is after his death. Or a timeline where Batman just doesn't exist.
I felt this guy should have been casted as the actual reverse flash. He fits perfectly than the guy they use and the guy they used should have been Harrison wells. If they did that. Reverse flash would have gained more recognition and would have created more strong plot throughout the flash series.
I’m the complete opposite. This version becomes so cartoonish later however the writing for the original Eobard was great for all his appearances. Even when he was on Legends
Yeah no. Matt is way more comic accurate until season 8 where they give Tom that ugly ass suit. Plus Tom has never actually felt like Thawne. Even in season 9 he's just an evil Wells except now everyone knows his real name.
@@OG-ColorfulAbyss. You say that because Matt was given the script to play him as a major role. For me Tom has the comical feel as well. I feel he would have created a new acceptable version of the flash that can be casted in the comic series. Like what Robert downey junior did to iron man, or what stephen armell did to green arrow if he was main casted and the scripts where changed to blend with his personality. Not that season 8 fiasco. Still good though.
I wish RU-vid created a poll section in the comments for this kind of thing so we can all vote about stuffs such as this. You tube I hope you are reading this.
The actor that played Harrison Wells/Reverse Flash deserves awards for the first 3 seasons! He was so great as a villain, and it’s amazing how he can perform 3 COMPLETELY different characters in one show. It was just so impressive.
The is what I don’t get, if thawne is born 136 years from 2014 how is Barry even alive? Thawne says that he was Barry’s best admirer than tries to become like him which results in him finding out they are destined to be enemies, this would mean Barry is still alive 100 years into the future
Barry time travelled to the future and accidentally saved the crowd thawne was supposed to. So he got the credit and thawne was upset and embraced his destiny to be reverse flashm
136 years from now never made sense since Thawne in the comics and show was known to be from the 25th century. In the first comic he was introduced, it was stated he was from the year 2463.
The first seasons where goated! I thought at first it was gonna be trash but they got everything right. Arrow was my main show then I quickly started with making flash my number 1
My theory is that, what if somehow the original timeline where eobard was from still exist and then they both fix it. Eobard went back to the day he was before he travelled back in time and prevent him from doing so, and barry returned to the time where the two of them fought, stopping the speedsters involved before thawne arrives in the future where he's from, completely resetting the timeline back to how it's supposed to be in RF's timeline.
What if: Barry's mother never died and his dad never went to prison in an alternate timeline? His parents would be alive and well. But that would also mean he would lose his speed. Thus, never becoming The Flash. So, the choice is Barry's: His parents whom he claims to love so much. Or, being The Flash?
That was actually the OG timeline (OG Barry's parents never died and he became the Flash in 2020) it all eventually leads to RF killing his mother creating the alternate timeline the Flash show is set in
Because it partially works off emotion and memory. The exact version of the timeline that he originally comes from doesn't exist anymore so he can't go back. The time stream has nothing to cross reference with his memories. That's why he needed the time sphere cuz I guess it works differently I mean, it can take you to the Vanishing Point which is like outside of time, or before time or after it whatever.
When Thawne stopped Barry from becoming the Flash he damaged his own ability to use the Speedforce himself because The Flash is the reason he gained speed himself. While he could still use it somewhat, he couldn't maintain his connection to it enough to good back to the future.
I love how everyone is acting like this is amazing when it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. He says he lost his ability to harness the speedforce yet he uses it constantly, he says time travel is tied to how fast one goes yet he's faster than the Barry who goes back in time during the finale of this season and he supposedly cant do it. This show always had poor writing from beginning to end.
The wheelchair charged his connection to the speed force. Not enough for him to time travel. He stole tachyons to increase his speed. He is using artificial speed pretty much which he can’t time travel with. Which is why he needs Barry to learn to become faster that way he can access the speed force and send him to the future
@@Nintendomaniac-qv4qt 1. He wasnt even in the wheel chair anymore after the reveal and he used his speed just fine. 2. There are cases of time travel without organic speed so that claim is nonsense. 3. He's literally faster than Barry throughout this season, even at the end of the season he's faster than Barry which forces Eddy to do what he did in order to save everyone.
@@arcadius3257 never said Barry was faster than him. Said he needed Barry to go faster. When you charge a battery and you take it off do you still get the effects of the battery without the charger? You might be right on the artificial speed being able to time travel, but later on in season 7 Barry is losing his speed which makes it harder for him to do certain things or connect to the speed force which is essentially what happened to thawne in season 1. The Tachyons made thawne faster but might not have given him the connection to the speed force. Hard to say really on the artificial speed I see your case on that one.
@@Nintendomaniac-qv4qt I never said that you did, the point is that Barry literally time travels at the end of this season. And thawne is faster than him. If we established that you can time travel with artificial speed then there is no reason why he shouldnt be able to when hes faster than Barry and its supposedly tied to how fast a speedster goes. Also the fact that he didn't regain his speed when he recreated The Flash doesn't make sense either. He "lost" his speed because ending Nora would have prevented The Flash from ever existing, which means he would never have an example that motivates him into obtaining speed of his own. When he corrected that by creating The Flash himself, his origin should have corrected and returned the ability to travel through time.
@@arcadius3257 thanks for giving me a good conversation about the Flash glad to talk out our opinions to each other. Been a while since I’ve nerded on the flash lol⚡️⚡️
You gotta feel bad for Reverse flash no matter how hard you try to change Berry's destiny there's just some things you can't change! If anything he made the flash stronger to self preserve no matter what. Just like Batman dark night rises Bane broke Batman, but he still came back he still defeated bane you can't beat a hero if they still have something to fight for. Think about in the final season Barry Allen had the option to save his mother over again and he chose to let her diethat is some serious self-preservation because he knows what is good for the better good Sometimes you have to lose to win and move on from tragedy! I always loved the deep story of the flash and Arrow in some ways that makes both shows better than smallville.
Kavanaugh played harry wells. A scientist. The other actor played thawne. He changed his appearance to look like harry wells. There are two actors because there are two separate characters. I think they realised how well kavanaugh played a villain they could have changed the story by making him the original thawne but they would have had to reshoot it and the cw doesn’t like to spend.
Matt Letscher represents two versions of OG Thawne, the primary version prior to permanently assimilating the DNA of Harrison Wells and the diverged Time-Remnant copy that went on his own path following Barry's Flashpoint changes. Tom Cavanaugh represents "Wells"-Thawne, obviously the primary version (doesn't have memories his Time-Remnant counterpart does from Barry's Flashpoint interference onward) that makes the irreversible choice taking upon the visage of Harrison Wells to ensure Barry became the Flash.
Its all same episode every time, new enemie flash can not beat - follow by team pep talk - new enemy defeated. Repeat. But i love it so xD That team flash pep talk is unstoppable!
SHADOW AND BONE S3 2:01-1:28-1:29 RHIAN:I LOSE MY ABILITIES AND I WAS SO MAD 2:03-2:04 DARK HERETIC SCREAMING CAUSE HE LOSE HIS ABILITIES FOR 15 YEARS HE WAS IMMORTAL
Dont worry guys. The reason he ACTUALLY killed his mom was because barry saved ppl he was going to and thawne got mad and swore vengence. The fucked up our boy
we are just not gona point out that time traveling back to change something is already a part of history? Its like a self fulfilling prophecy or else its gona be a time paradox?
Was the reason thawne lost his speed because he technically changed his own future as well since if Barry never becomes the flash thawne never aspires to become like Barry, so his obsession with trying to make his own speed force doesn’t happen since the catalyst for him trying to become a speedster was because he looked up to the flash?
@@amanhasnousername1614 no because Barry is still alive and thawne did lose his speed but he built a chair that was able to prevent the rest of the speed force in him from disappearing. He only had a limited amount of it left and he was facing a Barry who was very weak so to future thawne past barry is not a threat and didn’t need to use a lot of speed force to beat him since that Barry had no clue how to use the speed force
Because Thawne traveled back from his time to meet the flash in his prime. Before Thawne met Barry, Thawne would read stories about the flash then he wanted to be like the flash
Another question is, if he could travel back in time. Why didn't he travel back to when Barry first showed up and kill the untrained version then and there.
The best series i ever saw, literally every season, but this video has many mistakes. Also, Thawne looks like Pennywise in this scene. These comments are disgusting
This doesn't make sense, help me 1: how does Baryy live normally and as a hero 136 years from then, if i understand it correclty Iris lives there aswell. 2: how does Barry become the flash the first time, without the flash no one would know about the speed force and Thawn would never try to get ahold of fake speed.
Nothing is original anymore!LOL!The only miss opportunity is barry seeing the real young thawne in the actual future! So yeah we don't even know if we symphatize his backsotry anymore here.
You gotta think about it like this: Eobard became RF bc he was inspired by, wanted to be, and copied the powers of the Flash, and was able to access the speed force. But if the Flash never existed then he wouldn't have had access to the speed force so he had to recreate him 😄
@@joshfactor1 oh okay I get what you're saying, I've had to wrap my beard around what he could be saying, I'm pretty sure Flash ages slower in general but on top of that it could be that him and Flash have traveled to the future/past so many times for so many years that it's the equivalent of centuries
Wait, how is it that he was born 100 years in the future. Yet Barry and iris would be dead by then. Also the article says 2024, but thawne wouldn’t have been born by then.
I loved watching this show but it will forever not make sense. Why kill his mother when Barry is 11 when he could of ran back to before Barry was born and kill her there. It’s just bullshit
