Keep up the good work, I enjoy your videos! Im running a 1994 379 with a 3406C Mechanical. Even though running an old truck without cruise control gets old at times I'd rather put up with the noise, rattles, etc than the emission crap. Its ridiculous that in America we have to choose to drive an old reliable antique that is banned in CA just to be profitable. I'm really tired of being controlled by the Govt under the ruse of climate change, COVID and safety. 'In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.' - Ronald Reagan
The trick there with BC is route into Alberta first, then Alberta to BC, your allowed Alberta weights and configurations loaded and going in which will be higher than vice versa.
As a Canadian (BC) freight broker with a heavy haul division, trust me, these asinine jurisdictional regulations are the bane of our existence as well. All provinces and states need to get unto one accord.
The captain just turned down a 65,000 lb load to BC because he couldn’t get configured for BC without turning the rest of the trip into a nightmare. Some of this is protectionism, some is local conditions, but it ends up hurting the local businesses worse than anyone else because they have to pay the freight. Take care. Stay well.
So I live in BC. Getting permits can be a bit of a joke. Back in the good old days all we needed was our axle weights. Now we need all of our spreads. If you ever have that problem again just tell them your spread is an inch bigger. I can tell you the guys at the scales will probably never measure. I can’t confirm or deny that we may or may not have to bend the rules at times to get the job done
My father had the same issue with his DEF tank sensor on a school bus. Happened 4 hours from home, 115 degrees outside lucky the kids were within walking distance of their destination (1 block). Local district switched buses with him and told him it would be a min of 6 months to get a sensor. The bus they gave him, just waited 4 months for the same issue. Good luck finding the parts.
Glad to see a video hoss. Bro I hate things aren’t going right for you. That fkn sucks to have brand new equipment that nice and have all the headaches. They just don’t make stuff like they use too. My ole 96 379 stays loaded down grossing 100k everyday and I never have any trouble other than small stuff like a light. I rebuilt her from nose to her toes. Got a Detroit 12.7 pushing around 650hp, brand new 13 speed and both rear ended rebuilt. I was going to get a née truck, but I fkn hate that emissions bullshit and every friend I got w a new truck hasn’t had anything but trouble w their new trucks and all of it been emissions trouble. I miss back when just a fkn muffler was all there was to emissions. Mine don’t even have that. 8” straight pipes talking big shit everywhere I go 😂💩💩👌💥💨 Hope things smooth out for you bro
Great video. Parts shortages and delivery/ shipping date are crazy long. That is happening in all industries. All blamed on Covid, BS. The distress signal. Yes that is shinning brighter than ever.👍👍
Thanks for the upload. Looking forward to the driving footage. I agree with ya, We are to dependent on China. I live near Kentucky Speedway and they’ve shut the speedway down and have two massive parking lots. They leased the lots to Amazon and Ford. One of the lots consists of Amazon reefers full of returns, hundreds of them. And the other lot is hundreds maybe thousands of brand new F-250s and 350s just sitting in a lot due to the lack of silicon chips. I’d be willing to bet That’s what’s holding your dads truck up as well.
Cummins DEF senders are made of unobtainium right now. The forklift ones we use we’ve had to get from Singapore. Then again the engines are made in PRC so there you go.
so, adjust the mule so it sits 1 foot further back giving you 1 foot more length, then you have the "distance" in between axels in your overall length. ;) Pacific Highway Crossing to PoCo, old, bad condition roads, likely roundabout route to avoid low overhead rail crossings ( 3 of them in PoCo area where the railway goes overhead ) That is the only border crossing open for a heavy haul rig. 176 street ( the road north of the border ) is fairly well maintained, highway 1 is. The area around PoCo, Mary Hill Bypass, newer road, good to go, 1 railway crossing overhead at far end and likely the area needed for the delivery. Louheed Highway ( just after exiting highway 1 ) old, so so maintenance with railway crossing overhead just before a right turn to follow the highway to PoCo. ( reasonably well maintained at this point, railway overpass fairly high at around 14 feet ) Lots of smaller roads to get into different areas of PoCo that are not in great shape, old bridges that might not support the load. You actually dodged a horrible end of the run with not getting the permit.
It’s really not a Canadian thing more then a Province thing. Apparently, the Province of BC has strict axle spread criteria to be met for permits. Ontario doesn’t have that issue. Quebec has certain criteria, also. Great job, man! Specialized trucking is cool😎
I was once nailed in Illinois because the permit route didn't include driving into the scale. Off route. I asked what was I to do if the sale was closed, they said I'd be off route passing a closed scale. It's always something.
I work BEE Equipment Sales in Lubbock Tx. We are having the same issues with Cummins and some Cat equipment. The def headers just keep burning up. Most of these machines are asphalt equipment. I ask if it was the exces heat from being on a paving spread. The answer I was given was no it was from the ambaint temperature. They claimed this problem excised in the 4 south west states, but we have had a wet and mild summer. It is crazy. But they are not able to make the majority of this technology work on any of this equipment and trucks no matter who’s name is on it. They all will try and tell how much more productive things are and it just ain’t so.
Should have bought yourself a Fitzgerald glider before the Government closed that loophole. I like your straight forward attitude and telling it like it is Mitch. I bet the thought has crossed your mind on deleting the DEF system.
There’s trucks all over the country sitting because of those sensors, I’ve saw now where people all been pulling them and cleaning them with windex and supposedly it works to get buy until it does it again...
Do you have a spot to unload at the border? Are you meeting at Blaine, Lynden or Sumas crossing? If you need a hand I know a lot of places and people and would be happy to help.
I have zero hard feelings toward Canada. The rules are the rules and we are just too long for BC. We will continue to do loads to Canada if the money is right. I’m not just an American, I’m a North American.
Mitch, The incompetience and quality control in this country right now is mind boggling. I don't care where you go or what you need it's sad. I believe there is a storm coming. The rest of the world is laughing at us. I live in NH and Canada just opened the border so we can travel into Canada like thy are doing us a favor. F them.
Like you said, if they are going to require this emissions crap on our trucks, they need to get it right, and make these parts available at all times. Would be nice if they made more of that stuff here in the states. More jobs for americans. Even though our administration wants to subsidize people not to work 🙄
All in the name of control and chaos. Driving prices through the roof on everything. Those sensors are sitting in the port, but cant be delivered due to being told not too. Dm trucks have gone up in value by 30-40%.
What/who is not allowing them to be delivered? I don't follow any of the but last I'd heard semiconductors and/or chipsets, at least for the automotive and lt truck industry, were innobtanium and and issue with empty containers (con-boxes) being shipped (returned to china?) but those with goods in them not because the ships were full.
in alberta you should have been legal for 6000 kgs(13200 pds) on the steers, 23000 kgs(50700 pds) on the tri-drive, 24000 kgs(52900 pds) on the front tri axle and rear triaxle, 9100 kgs( 20000 lbs) on the rear dolly. Then permit from there. The u.s has different axle spread laws than canada probably why they are denying the permit. The canadian company will probably use a 16 or 24 wheeler combo to haul it.
My Kenworth T-680 with the X-15 was in shop 3 weeks in a row with DEF issues. They replaced dpf wiring harness turbo waste gate and some other wiring harness on the last trip to shop. Been running fine since. These emission systems has to be some money making scheme for somebody.
Speak in a Ford truck stars a recall on the rear axle of your brand new Ford pick up have it checked out when you get home the axle tubes are collapsing
Smoke & no ribs? That's not very nice hospitality!...lol. No computer chips for the Ford pickups. The Kentucky Motor Speedway is full of brand new trucks with no chips. Hope the rest of your trip goes good for you.
Hey Mitch !!!! Even Sergei has problems with BC with his setup !! As you know ,,most of the parts that Cummins uses comes from China !! With FORD & most ALL Manufactures ,, Those DAMN Computer chips ,they can't get as they showed short videos of ALL the makes & models sitting in the parking lots waiting !! Can't blame you for your decision to stay out of Canada !! If you look at Super Trucker Dan's videos ,, he tore the ""DEF"" System off his ""PETE"" & rebuilt it himself ,then parked it & Put is "OL" PETE back on the road !! Had to have the "CAT"" rebuilt with ""NEW"" Clutch/Tranny !! Hope you have a better week & That smoke is from the West coast & Canada with wildfires !!! Be on the lookout for them where you are going !!!
My son works for a major tire manufacturer and they recently had to slow down production due to the chip shortage. Things are picking up now because they have some big contracts with a major package delivery company. It's going to take a lot of noise from We the People to straighten this Cluster F out. Make damn sure you vote in 2022 and not by mail, in person!
Welcome to the red tape of communist Canada where DOT does its best to stifle any production possible, not easy living here. Gorgeous rig/ trailer set up.
