My cat Skyfall peed on my bed after I went on a trip. This video looks at why and what you can do about that sort of behavior.

Every cat owner should watch this video. We had our cat when he was eight years old and he lived to be 14,5. We never left him in those years, we knew it would be too stressful for him. He was very bonded to us. I can't imagine the anxiety he would feel if we just left him alone. And we have no regrets. Loved every moment with him❤❤❤

Completely agree. Cats can be very bonded and suffer when left alone.

Leaving out laundry (not nasty, but smells like you) on beds or sofas is amazing and gives them a nice place to nap with your scent. Watched our cats on security cameras while we were away for a week and more often than not, they were on our clothes.

I'm the one who gets anxious when I leave my 2 kitties! I'd rather just stay at home with them. Also, many years ago I boarded the cats I had then for a couple of weeks while out of the state -and never did it again. The place looked nice and the people that ran it also seemed nice, but my cats who didn't have fleas came back infested and sick and so stressed out it took a couple of weeks to get them back to their normal happy, calm selves. I hire a reputable cat sitter, who I encourage to stay the night occasionally if they can.

Great video❤ In general, it is an advantage to have at least 2 cats! It's not really much more expensive than having one

Helpful tips. miss my cats and have had to spend more time away due to illness with family members. I Ieave worn clothes out as will sleep on them. I have a good cat sitter which. One cat oron will accept sitter but will be greated by punishment of avoioding me for a couple of hours. His litter mate asher is harder as blind and spends most of his time with me and restless when away and greets me with a big drbbly cuddle. ❤

Great tips, I completely agree and just adopted a second cat for this very reason, perfect timing. However, a work in progress with the two cats as my resident cat has had bad experiences being chased and tormented by male cats in her first year of life on the streets, even developing a facial abscess from a bite wound and having a terrible experience with sedation. I'm hoping since she's approaching 2 years old that she can learn to like other cats. On your point about interactive toys, you show a bird wand on the ground and you definitely don't want to leave those unsupervised due to strangulation risk. I loved your cat balcony video too by the way. I have portable cameras set up to watch them, and found it great when I adopted a scared cat who wouldn't come out when people were around. The camera showed a playful and relaxed behaviour when alone.

Great video. Last year, I adopted a young cat for my older male cat. Hate to leave them when I travel. I bring them to my son’s apartment which is much smaller than my place. I am so attached to my babies, but one cannot be home all the time for that reason. If I could adopt a third one, I would. They need to have their little “pack.” Cats do not like being left alone.

I think that is a good decision. Smaller place is better than alone.

I live in woods of the Ozark mountains, middle of nowhere, so when one comes my way I know they have been sent. I let him out of the garage this morning and within 30mins I opened the door to his gift of a little mouse. Sad and yukky but I knew it was his gift offering to us so I pretended to eat it and he got a "goood boy" and a special snack. (Just realized that I should have put this under the "reply" sorry. In a rush as I've got cat chores to do. :^D) >^-^< p
@louisev9707

I love that you pretended to eat it. My old floof once brought me a pigeon while I was hanging out the laundry and I wasn't sure what to do, so eventually he just kept tossing it up and down and catching it while waiting for me to stop hanging clothes and eat his catch. But humouring them seems so kind 😊

Truly, what else can we do? I finally learned over many decades (I'm a slow learner) that screaming "NOOOOOO" and chasing them down to save the hapless prey isn't the best technique. Best way is to work quickly but stay calm and say, "Oh, good job, what have you got? 9 out of 10x they will drop it and then when it is trying to get away you grab it and say "where is it?" and as they look for it I nonchalantly whisk it off to safety Usually, my cats are still looking around on the ground for it and aren't aware of the awful deception. :^D I've saved many birds, mice, lizards, walking sticks, etc. I've done it so much that I don't mind picking things up but better to have a tissue. Lizards are the main captures so I'm no longer afraid to pick them up. I always say good job and give a Temptation Treat consolation prize. Thanks for commenting. Isn't God's creation wonderful? Blessings, p @@louisev9707

@@9LivesToLive Y es, it truly is amazing that they do interact in such a caring, providing way to us. They know we are family. I have a little Abysinnian male that loves to fetch little make up sponges. I throw them like a little frisbee and he tears off and retrieves. I don't let him outside often but when the leaves are falling, he'll stand on the porch and just like a lion watching all the herd running by, he spots a big one coming down and he dashes out after it. Ignoring all the others, (just running right through all the leaves that are falling around him) he will come back with the HUGE leaf that he had spotted and his posture is just like the big cat dragging the chosen herd member! It is amazing how they hunt in the exact same manner. I have pictures of him bringing it to me and he is as proud as can be. I actually put leaf preservative on it and it is hanging on my bedroom mirror. It was the biggest leaf I've ever seen. Funny!!! I do love the critter kingdom and IMO cats are the most beautiful of them all. Thanks for sharing! Blessings, >^-^< p (ps I don't know how the web address below got there. ? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N-IWfJwLAWk.html&lc=UgxIsqN_HmUtSi_dc1d4AaABAg.9x3OKj24CL39x6mDDgUgkg

I once came home and stepped in something squishy on my doorstep. It was a large piece of fish. As in, it must have been captured off a neighbor’s BBQ prep table. Not sure which cat delivered it, but it didn’t swim over on its own and I don’t think the neighbors would’ve shared that way.

Good insights to our feline family. Mine get along and haven't had marking issues even when I've tried (for a year in Jan) to incorporate a rescue that showed up on our porch in a blizzard. I say tried as I'm still not successful as he still chases my two older ones so I have to keep him separate. He likes outside during the day and I bought him a pet heating pad for the garage in cool weather so he is very satisfied with the arrangement. Well, I hope he is as this is all I can do. I have not tried natural calming drops yet but guess I'll have to try. Thanks! >^-^< p

Any thoughts on moving? We are relocating south, and the trip will take about 5 to 6 hours. That's a long time for 3 cats in a car. Any suggestions? And thanks for all the great videos.

I have never moved with cats and hesitate to offer advise that I have not tested. But if I were taking that trip, I would ask my vet about medicine to prevent car sickness. I know that some cats can get it bad.

Take them for some non-vet drives to get used to the idea. They feel the motion and it freaks them out. My cat meowed the entire drive. I also found they are afraid to go to the bathroom. So if you have a crate big enough for even a small cardboard box with litter, it helps. Don’t put anything hard or heavy in there, in case of accident. I also used cargo straps to keep crate in the car in case of accident. At some point take some driving breaks for yourself and they can do their business while the car is stopped. I give canned food for hydration as they may not drink water. If a wire crate, cover it so it will be dark. If you can get them used to relaxing music in advance, it might help during the drive. Also, never leave animals in a car with windows up in the sun if it is warmer than freezing outside because cars become solar ovens even at 80F, truly hot weather will get extremely hot. Park in the shade if you need to make a pit stop.
