I make a new cat scratching post with the features that I think are useful and aesthetic for my living room. Maybe you can take some features for yourself and create a DIY project for your cats and yourself.
You could definitely sell these. I love the way your cat furniture etc harmonizes with the room instead of clashing and disrupting. 😸 Thanks for sharing.
Love it. People usually think the cat should adjust their life to our household demands….don’t get on this, don’t scratch that. But just like having a baby in the house, we must adjust to the cats needs too. That post is so much fun for them, the couch looks boring now!
I've done the same thing. I wrapped a 1x4 and screwed it into the wall, leaving a gap (stacked plastic washers) and then tacked artifical leaf stems around it so it looks like a tree branch. I also made another wrapped 1x4 scratching post that hangs over the bedroom door, and is the entire length of the door. To carry the weight and create stability, I connected the 1x4 lumber to a barricade bracket which is an exact fit to fit over the door. Both of these projects only required a drill to drill holes and fasten screws - very simple for most pet parents. My projects are as functional as yours, but definitely lack your craftsmanship, lol. Your work is very professional, you should make it a side business. Another cumbersome project I just completed was re-wrapping 6 foot tall cat furniture from Petsmart, because the carpet on the posts was so badly damaged from years of scratching, lol. Wish you had a social media page so I could share the pics.
Thanks for your comment, Delight. I can visualize some of what you shared, and the projects sound great. I have my own cat tree that needs re-wrapping.
Your videos are such a help to me. The one on windows gave me a solution to a cat who pushes through screens and lets everyone out! (A separate frame with hardware cloth that I hang when I open that window.) This scratching post is super, will fit in so much better in my home, and now I understand why they don't really like to scratch their cat tree. Thank you!
This is a great idea and it does look so much nicer than one just standing in the middle of the room. You could definitely go into business, but I live in an apartment and don't know if I'm allowed to screw into the walls.
