Almost 2 years ago we pulled the 1939 Forgotten Hot Rod from the local junkyard that it had been sitting in for the last 60 years. Since then we have been working on getting the car repaired and back on the road. One thing we still need to do is wash the moss and grime off the car, and polish the old black paint. That's right we are washing and polishing the crusty and flakey paint!! After a buff and wax its off to the junkyard to park the 39 right where it originally sat!! This project was a ton of fun and we can't wait to put some more miles on it this summer!

when the two of you were heading down the highway to the Junk yard and chatting about the 39, I could place myself in either seat, and remember what went through my mind. It didn't matter what the vehicle looked like; to me it was better than any RR on the road; I built it from the ground up and am damn proud of what I created. Best feeling in the world and the feeling gets stronger and the heart gets bigger we every build. Thanks for the trip guys .....

Great work and love the way you rebuilt the old hot rod with older parts and try to make it period correct. A 292 with a manual is what it sounds right in the hot rod glory day. I am a Chinese guy lived in Hong Kong, although I never had a chance to drive a hot rod around, but I really love those early 30’s to late 40’s Ford and Chevy, all the passion came from a PC game back in the 80’s.

This brought back a '58 trip to Brown's Salvage 7 miles over the border in Maryland in George Grove's 48 Ford sedan. It to had been rescued from the crusher, no muffler or exhaust pipe, floors mostly gone, fenders cracked and a 5 gallon oil can bailing wired to the. Rear seat frame for gasoline. Thanks for your Town Car memories!

Their are a lot of us oud guys that have done this back in the day. We didn't have the resources to film what we did . We took pictures of what we did but a lot them got lost threw the years . I love what you guys are doing. I grew up in Foxboro Mass. We had fun with our Hot Rods. I moved to Florida in 1975 I'm still doing my hotrods here, at the age of 75. Thanks' for keeping Hot Roding going.

i believe that most cars have souls and i’m surprised that the ‘39 didn’t have the “tips” when you drove it in. i like the ‘39 i remember seeing old cars like this when i was a kid and loved the lines and the grill and those chevron lights on the ‘40’s but i also loved the split window which i enjoyed seeing on the 40’s willies which reminded me of the late 30’s and 40’s fords.

Loved the 'transformation' from salvage yard to being on the road. Brought back memories of my first car, a '56 Chevy 4-door, 6 cyl., which I bought for $15.00 in 1961 when I was 16. I bought 4 used tires ($20.00), installed all new brake parts and ran it for 2-years. It looked so bad I never took any pictures of it and was actually kind of ashamed of it, which I still regret.

Linseed oil on the rust spots would really keep those areas looking nice in contrast to the waxed paint. Our family has my late grandpas ‘40 Ford Tudor, I like the ‘39 headlights more. Ours is glossy lipstick red with an 80s fuel injection corvette engine. I believe Boyd Coddington built it. I dig this one more , can’t wait to buy some raffle tickets.

As I mentioned several times during this process, I'm viewing this 4 years into the future from the initial posting on this car. I've sought out and viewed all approx 54 episodes on this build (still have the new interior yet to view) and wanted to express how much I've enjoyed the series. The 39', 40' Ford Tudors & Coupes were my favorite classics in my youth and remain so today. Knowing from my advance knowledge that the car is now in the hands of Dave Freiburger, I was a bit confused for a few episodes with talk of a raffle, but the question was answered in a subsequent episode. Fully understandable... dealing with the Pa Gaming Commission can be a PIA. So cool to see the resurrected soul of this old hot rod returning to laugh at it's former grave. BTW, on the episode of Roadkill on which this car was featured, Freiburger and Finnegan drove the car on a 1000 mile road trip and the only real issue they had along the way was a crapped out voltage regulator... to my mind quite a testament to Iron Trap's "keep it simple", budget build.
