Can I just say I really appreciate how many battles you put into one video? Often find videos on different and unique Pokemon teams and strategies but they only have maybe 1-2 battles that don't really showoff the Pokemon very well. Thank you for your hard work.
We’re so used to seeing a choice band technician boosted bullet punch from Scizor, it was almost a let down when it didn’t even do half to a flutter mane. We forget it’s only a 40 base power attack, but our mind tricks us that its some powerful attack
Moments like you calling the end of game 4 before it happened are so cool to watch and so so so funny. Not that it needed explanation, but def shows why TPC keeps hiring you as a caster for their tournaments lol
AV Toxicroak is one of my favorite VGC pokemon, it just needs the right meta to really shine. In SwSh I loved using it against Tapu Lele water Urshifu and even in the restricted formats versus Kyogre and Xerneas. So happy to see him back right now 😊
QOTD: Weird answer, but Vespiquen. Been having a lot of fun using Vespiquen as a slow Trick Room support that pairs well next to Earthquake Ursaluna with a Ground immunity, Helping Hand, and Pollen Puff.
Ah, I didn't expect to see a new video so soon after the Beastcoast event! It's so cool every time you swing by... especially with the new look 🤩 thanks for making the trip! More relevantly, I'm really happy you're fielding this frogbird team. Kazuyuki is an OG of OGs. My favorite gen 4 mon right now might be... Bronzong. I think it's a fun, well-balanced mon that expands any meta it's in. I think with Pory2 back, Bronzong is soon to follow, even though it's been here all along.
QOTD: Metagross!! I'm play-testing Stellar/Normal Tera Explosion 👀 Bullet Punch always threatens Flutter Mane which is great, although natural Attack isn't enough to OHKO bulky Flutters. I also run Hammer Arm in TR, mostly for Incineroar but it hits lots of the meta for great damage. Psychic Fangs is great STAB damage that helps vs. the occasional Screens user. With Clear Body allowing for reliable damage output, the item choice is super flexible here! I use Life Orb to assure OHKOs on FM but it could slot into most roles that would like consistent priority damage. If anybody wants to try it, I could see this as a good chance to get creative with the item ;)
QOTD : defently Salamence , i also bought a Salamence Plushy at my first Regional Championship in Dortmund , sadly i went 1-8 with Spectrier , Grimmsnarl , Galarian Zapdos , Arcanine Hisui , Ogerpon Wellspring and Roaring Moon. But defently a unique Team , im sure u would love it.
QotD: while i dont play VGC personally, sableye is a pokemon i really adore and one that i think is highly overlooked. prankster + encore and disable are great for disruption, it has skill swap which can not only be used to give an ally prankster, but to remove an ability as well (like say, removing Guts from Ursaluna). You could even skill swap Quash for speed control, and use Quash with trick room to reverse it since you'll always move last.
I’m a month late but QOTD: Spiritomb. I love using Spiritomb as a trick room setter. The more popular prankster is, the more reliably it gets TR up and it can survive a proto-SpA MoonBlast with a Roseli Berry
I swear every time I see Weezing and Regigigas, I don’t know what to do at all, I know I made a mistake of attacking Weezing when it can shut my team down, and then if I attack Regi the support from Weezing was just well timed
qotd: pelipper, A LOT bc of wideguard, its so impactful. i fell in love with it in gen 3 cause it had STAB with Fly and Surf, which back when HM slaves were required, was huge, also got Ice Beam for the very strong at the time dragons, and could use Toxic, which was really fun to stall with Fly. it was probably one of the first pokemon i messed around with back then that didnt use 4 attacking moves now that im thinking about it. nowadays, i use it in a MUCH different way, but i absolutely love it all the same. its also quite a good raidmon if you need special flying! also, the pelipper mail in the mystery dungeon series, very cute. thank you for the vid!
Can't speak on current set/regulation but historically speaking, my favorite Gen 3 Pokemon to see have been Dusclops and Milotic. Gen 4 is a bit harder; I'd have to take the odd picks of Mamoswine, Palkia, and Torterra.
QOTD answer: shiny Milotic, competitive ability Tera grass. Comes in so clutch. Obviously a little dangerous to run with all the electric and grass types running rampant in this regulation but I like living life on the edge. Thought about changing to Tera dragon to resist but Tera blast after sp. atk raise is satisfying. Also it doesn’t mesh too well with my team since I have two other dragons and especially since my kingambit is already Tera dragon.
Hi Cybertron, thanks for the video. Your videos always make me want to play VGC. I was wondering if you could talk about the Pokemon you're trying to over run with the ones with speed investments. For example, Salamence's 180 spe investments. I'm not sure what Pokemon you're trying to outrun.
Ummm…. Anyone notice at 23:44 that with gunk shot selected, it didn’t show super effective against flutter, and then flutter terra into a type that makes poison not super effective???
What is the benefit of running Sp Attacks on Salamence besides the element of surprise? Is that more worth it than having a lower damaging stat than having it as a physical attacker?
At about 1:55, Aaron talks about how Kazuyuki Tsuji is the first official VGC champion, but there was a precursor the year before with a different name. Pretty topical to current events, the first football game known as the "Super Bowl" was Super Bowl II. The game played in January 1967, now known as Super Bowl I, was officially called the First AFL-NFL World Championship Game at the time.
Hey Aaron! Long time viewer here. I was wondering if you could showcase a toxic troll team with moody smergle and power of alchemy alolan muk? I have a draft league im in and would love to see you use a team like that
