The ISO feature is exceptional when you hear it for the first time coming out of iPhone speakers in a room with plenty of ambient sounds. Listen on cans however and that voice can sound really stale and there’s some stray artifacts you have to deal with as well. I’m in the middle of a big mix at the moment and haven’t had time to experiment-so my first impressions are just that. But my initial concern is what happens when sweetening dialog for a final mix. Are there enough harmonics remaining to bring back a natural sound with reverb and eq, or will the voice end up sounding dull and lifeless? It’s an interesting tool, and I’m certain it will come in handy some of the time, but human hearing is acute to voices and if you aren’t careful, over processed dialog stands out-and not in a good way. I look forward to digging in deeper when I have time to futz around.

My impression is that it is a lot like iZotope plugins. It can cause those issues, but with a skilled engineer is a highly useful tool. 😁

@@DiegeticAudio When I have some time to experiment I will, but I’m not planning to toss the feature into my current project, not knowing ahead of time how the rest of my plug-ins will interact with ISO processed clips. For quick turnaround interviews, I suspect it will be brilliant. In a 5.1 surround mix with a really precise center speaker? That will be interesting to test and see how much work it takes to get that voice to reinhabit the narrative environment.
