You guys got me planing on buying a 2021 Goldwing in may of 2022 if there’s no changes for 2022! These videos have sold me! Honda should pay all you guys!!!!
Yep, after I test rode an '18 DCT Wing I gave up 25 years of riding Harleys and bought my first Honda ever. The new Goldwing is a very convincing machine!
Same here, about 13 years on Harleys but when i saw this redesign i knew i had to give it a better look and after doing much homework instead of going to a RoadGlide which was my original plan from my RoadKing I went and got a 2018 Goldwing DCT and haven't looked back.
Ngumba depends on whether you opt for the DCT version or not. I’ve heard some folks walking out with a new one for $23,000. If you are okay with getting a left over from the previous year you could do even better. 🇺🇸
When I sat on one at the dealership, bounced on it a bit, I knew right away that front wishbone suspension was a game changer. A fantastic improvement to the Wing!!
After reviewing several videos like this one I traded in my 2011 Harley Roadking for a 2018 Goldwing DCT. Its only been a few weeks and so far I absolutely love my new ride and do not miss the Harley in any way shape or form.

Anyone that owns both a Goldwing and a comparable Harley, inevitably, the Harley will be gathering dust in the garage. Ask me how I know, lol. HD cannot compare in so many areas of riding. Not the braking, not the handling, not the vibration, not the acceleration.
I am considering selling my k1600 for a 19 DCT. The reliability of the Honda is to no match. I love my K, but all kind of issues already with only 12k on it.
Al P it’s been a few months and still love the bike even more than when I got it. Yes Honda is a very reliable brand as I bought a Honda 450S fourwheeler new back in 2K so it’s 20 years old and still runs like a champ along with my 18 year old Honda power washer and 12 year old Honda powered zero turn mower. I trust Honda.
I have a '19 DCT Tour. It took me about 4 months to be OK with the auto shifting. It is really quick. I was not comfortable with the shifting around corners but now I have total confidence in it downshifting.. The suspension is too soft for me and the saddle really sucks. All in all I have fallen in love with this one after having 350K miles on a "79, '97, and a '10. If you love riffing on the freeway, back roads and mountain roads, this is the bike.
I've had my 2023 Goldwing Tour for almost a month now. Yes, it's smooth and powerful with its 6-cylinder, 125 horsepower, and 125 lbs of torque. What I don't like: the automatic shifting in the city needs improvement. The bike is jerky when riding up to a stop light. From 3rd gear to 2nd, and from 2nd gear to 1st, it jerks, and it's not smooth. The dealership said that's normal. The second thing I don't like is the radio reception. FM stations fade in and out all the time even though I live only 45 miles from a major city. It's like the radio is missing the antenna altogether. The last thing that bugs me is the way Honda has you input your destination address into the navigation system and how it's difficult to save a location in your favorites location. The input process using the jog dial is tedious, so give yourself at least 5-6 minutes to input the address. What I love: the power, the smooth ride, the electrically controlled windshield, heated grips and seats, the beautiful LED headlights and foglights, and the storage.
Great review, I’m hunting a white DCT right now. I am so flippin excited. Haven’t ridden one yet. Hubby has manual I’m going for DCT. We can have the best of both worlds. I drove his 2018 tour tonight, have a pc 800 and ctx 1300, just sold my road king. Loving the comfort, smoothness and effortless riding, kicked Harleys to the curb.
Nice video, awesome bike! I’ll probably be in line for one very soon; I had the original back in the day (1978, or 79 model), even that one was revolutionary in smoothness - 1000cc of quiet furry! I thoroughly enjoyed it back then. Today’s DCT with more technology has convinced me...happy trails to you...👍
My God, I love the sound of this bike HG-DCT-Tour. All Honda needs to do is address the problems with the shock strut dampers hitting their stops too much, out in more reliable electrical relays that live almost forever instead of for just for a few years, a bottom-plate armor to protect the engine belly from hitting speed bumps, educating first-time riders to avoid extended near-gridlock traffic jams that will wear out the clutches prematurely (avoid such traffic or switch to manual gear shift mode and keep it locked in first gear in such traffic).
DUDE! I Walked In The Room Drunk @ The 7:20 Mark.. I Thought You Had Lost Control And Were About To Crash!!! That Chit Actually Scared Me! It Is Now July InThe Year 2020.. And I'm Still Drunk And Trying To Decide On A 2nd-Gen 2020 Or, Now Just Wait 90 Days And See What The 2021's Have To Offer.. Major Refinements On The 2020.. And Discounts Are Coming.. Decisions, Decisions...
It's not quite as smooth as the K1600B, but it is very refined and has some nice USP's, especially in DCT guise. The front suspension isn't really cantilever, it's more John Hossack, not dissimilar to the BMW duo-lever really.
I’ve owned two Goldwings. Got too scared as the number of distracted drivers exponentially increased and stopped riding. I miss them. Goldwings are the Cadillac of the touring bikes. The DCT must be awesome !
And dramatically up their reliability. I have a R Nine T Pure with 8,000 miles and have had zero issues, but I suspect putting all those extra tech bits and gadgets is where the gremlins start to appear.
Automatic transmissions have gears that are automatically shifted from one to another hence the term Automatic transmission. With this bike you can leave it in automatic or slap the gear change yourself with the paddle shifters on the left hand.
Roger, it’s true, manual paddle shifting is included, I own one. Also, in auto mode you can override the programmed shifts with the paddles. Pretty slick system overall.
Hi , I am a biker for over 35 years and according to my bike if it is luxurious and comfortable or it can not be likened to the comfort of a car and the same sensations! A motorcycle must remain a motorcycle in its comfort and its motor sensations etc ... It is for this reason that I prefer the BMW K1600, preferençe the GT equipped with a top box! In any case, a R1250 RT is enough widely and more ! 😉✌🏽
John Phillips I even think that Honda's DCT gearbox is not a place on a motorcycle, on a scooter ok! The bike becomes more and more sanitized! Looks like we're getting bikers they want us to be for their bizness and it looks like it works! 😉✌🏽
@@gwadaflat Have you riden a DCT Goldwing? I guarantee you're not going to outshift a DCT in a race. The DCT is the way to go if you ride in stop and go traffic in large cities (I live in LA). I have nerve damage in my left hand and get cramps pulling in the clutch so much to the point I can't ride a bike for long periods of time. DCT makes the Goldwing more enjoyable for me to ride. Less time on focusing on riding a bike and more time focusing on scenery and the road.
Neil Lauinger No, never ride a Goldwing DCT and I'm not interested because I don't have a problem with my hand or any other physical problem that would prevent me from riding a motorcycle normally while shifting myself! Reassure me Hope you’re kidding when you say I don’t beat a Goldwing DCT in a race? 🤣🤣🤣🤣! That you like the DCT in your situation, I can understand it but do not take your case and your tastes for a generality!
@@gwadaflat I would have bought the DCT regardless of my nerve damage. And not kidding you, I would beat you in the quarter mile through the gears if you were on the manual Goldwing me on the DCT. That's just how good the DCT is... beat you like you gwadaflat. :)
Riding/testing this bike was really great, however it felt like riding Honda Accord. I was looking for the cup holder for my coffee, therefore it was not for me. Small trunk, not so comfy seat, 5.5 gal for a flagship touring bike is a big NOOOOO....NOOOOO. All the above just made me hooked on the 18 k1600 GA. No regrets even for a split second. Happy riding.
The worst thing about the Gold Wing motorcycle is the warranty because when you travel your motorcycle outside the country, there is no international agency that can have the factory faults. Of your channel followers : Mr. Talal almowalled
So.....when the trans is in "auto" and lets say in 6th gear just riding along and you need to accelerate out of the way in a hurry. Does it down shift quickly to a lower gear for hard fast acceleration???
The 2018 and 2019 are the same bike, just changed some colors...the 2020 did get a little tweak in the DCT, nothing major. The 2021 is where the big changes are. Check it out!
Aidi Amran a k1600 is a sportier, higher horsepower SPORT touring bike. Both bikes are great but after having ridden both of them, I would take the Honda DCT for extended touring.
Aidi Amran The BMW is a fine machine. It has more torque and speed than the Goldwing Tour. However, it is top-heavy and far less comfortable. I just finished an Orlando-to-NYC ride, and my 2018 Goldwing DCT Tour was a pleasure to ride. Also, the reliability of Goldwings is far superior to the BMW...and the dealership network is exceedingly larger (try to find a BMW dealership outside of a major city!), and maintenance is mostly proprietary to BMW. Lastly, the accessories for the Beemer are extremely expensive (BMW = "Bring Money With-ya"). With 44 years of production, you can't go wrong with a Goldwing. Good luck in your choice.
Aidi Amran I rented a 1600 GA in Scotland for 6 days...came home and bought a 2018 Goldwing DCT. The BMW has the “quickshift”, as stated above. The BMW has more power, better luggage capacity...the new GW Achilles Heel. But the Gold Wing is a better overall bike. The systems are better, Apple CarPlay, storage up front...the BMW has ZERO..and I means ZERO storage pockets outside of the top and side bags. Also the number of mods on a BMW is almost zero....mounts, upgrades, etc.....the BMW GPS is a Zumo that snaps into the dash. The Honda GPS is functional, but since you can run Apple CarPlay, you have several other options. Having s “native GPS” system will go away at some point...just give us a screen and compatibility and leave software to the software people...build a compatible screen. BMW 1600’s are good...and better in individual stats, but the Gold Wing is a better package and more complete ownership experience. My 2cents.
Dual WISHBONE for the suspension. To add another 'dual"; it is a dual clutch transmission; not automatic. I will leave it to you to discover the differences. Good Rides
@@wowadv5261 goin to buy the goldwing by next year! any tips for short riders like me currently own a yamaha tmax sx cuz d goldwing is a different beast
No!!! And Hell NO!! This is NOT a novice bike. Take a riders course, get an old small bike (one that you can drop and pick up without alarming yourself with the damage), put about 5000 miles on it over a year. Then, take another riders course to undo any bad habits, and repeat. Then you might be ready to upgrade your bike. I’m not kidding!!
Generally the criteria for a novice street bike is try to buy used (less than 10 yrs old), around 400 lbs or less, no more than 50 hp, naked bike preferred (no fairings to damage if you drop it). Half of new riders give it up after 1 or 2 years so try not to spend big $$ on your first bike, there are always good used bikes for sale. So the Goldwing is definitely not a good first bike, and you should learn to ride a manual bike imo.
Yeah makes sense, but this bike is so cool. My issue is where I live I have to get on the highway to go anywhere. A 500cc rebel is not going to cut it, any suggestions?
I disagree with the comments. Its not the bike that matter as much as the rider. I do agree with Alan August, "Take a course. I (Kake) purchased my first bike, 2015 Honda Shadow Areo only a week after completing the basic course, and put over 20,000 miles in a year. NO Problems. Its all about throttle control, practicing and riding daily. In 2017, purchased a new 2015 Gold Wing F6B and now have ridden it over 50,000 miles. So yes it can be a first bike...but PLEASE take a course, and Practice, Practice, Practice.
The seat height is subjective. For me, it's not low. I can barely reach the ground, on my tippy toes. I'm barely 5'8" with a 28" inseam. So for me, it's not low. A bike of that size and weight, if I can't flat foot it, I'll never own one.
Jeff My man it’s ok I wouldn’t either for my first bike. The F6-B has a seat that narrows at the front and big at the rear. Allot of people don’t know this but you position your seat up front for better footing for shorties like us. At a stop. Then position back to rear when you take off. Or it could be not to wear such tight jeans. Try on yoga pants. Much better feel.
HenryHonda tights or yoga pants give a little extra stretch aren’t so restrictive and are aerodynamic in the wind while riding. Not to mention feels good on.
I think black pee bags should be mandatory for men over 50 yrs old when riding gold wings, F6-B’s. Just hang it on your boot and the catheter in side penus. Just the best experience while riding down the freeway.
Some men worry about what others will think about them. I don't give a crap and wear what I feel is comfortable & practical. I always buy stretchy jeans
I have a 2018 Tour…just did a 6 day 1700 mile ride using that GPS. Programmed in each day's ride with multiple waypoints. I would say that it’s ok…it’s more Motel 6 variety vs Hilton, but it’s more than usable as I just proved to myself.
It's about long term comfort and reliability. Fast enough is great. 155 mph, REALLY THINK THAT U R SMART, slow down and live longer. 18 year olds do that, THEN DIE. MATTER OF TIME, LIKE YOURSELF BETTER.
