The #Mazda3 has always had a reputation of being slightly more fun and premium over its mainstream competitors. However, a Mazdaspeed version has been absent from the lineup since 2013. For 2021, #Mazda is once again offering a Mazda3 with a turbo under the hood, the new #Mazda3Turbo offers up to 250 HP and 320 lb-ft. of torque from its 2.5L #SkyActiv 4-cylinder. Mazda also wisely pairs the engine with AWD which is something you can't get on a GTI or GLI. Sadly, no manual is available but the 6AT ensures smooth shifts and fuel economy practically matches that of the slower non-turbo version.

Happy Friday guys! Long week for us with so many new videos to post. We really enjoyed the new Mazda3 Turbo a lot more than we thought we would. While some may argue it's not a GTI rival, and to an extent, we do agree. For the money, you can't deny how appealing this new AWD Turbo Mazda3 is now, it's a unique car in this class that truly occupies a white space between mainstream and premium.

Somebody has tested this new turbo and the result is amazing, 0-100kph in 5.7seconds not bad for the small boy. But Mazda is now the most reliable brand pushing Toyota and Lexus to second and third respectively.👌 👌 😀 😀

True we get more powerful engines in some of our mainstream cars, but the tradeoff is we often get less options (including engine choice) than Europe. May not be so different for Mazda, but it always makes me jelly seeing things like combo tartan/leather or alcantara seats in a GTI over there.

Y u lease? Those payments are gone.. At least when you finance, you have a physical asset that you can sell to recover costs. With leasing- ur pissing money down the drain. Help me understand from your perspective. Thanks!
@gibsoncoca
@gibsoncoca 3 года назад
@@jarcodolo8734 With leasing you have no or lower down payments, significantly lower premiums and are on the hook for significantly less, if any, maintenance and repair. The cost of leasing is really just the cost of depreciation whereas when you finance to own, you absorb that cost as well as 100% of repair and maintenance costs once out of warranty. Without variables like costs of care, a person who buys to own but sells shortly after they've paid a car off isn't necessarily saving much. And depending on the car's reliability, an owner is likely to face unexpected costs a leaser will likely never face. When a lease is up, getting into a new car is easier than dealing with the market moves of selling/trading in to buy. On paper leasing is more expensive since there's never a no-payment period and I'd wager it most often is in practice too. Some people find it worth the potential added cost for the general ease of always having a new car, despite perpetual premiums and never owning. To me the biggest downside to leasing, depending on commute/lifestyle, is mileage limits - It's a really impractical option for heavy commuters or road trippers. While I don't lease and have never, and probably wouldn't, I can see why people would.

Did you try it in sport mode? The transmission becomes more responsive for sure! And with a turbo, I can only imagine! I saw today that Mazda was rated #1 in reliability according to Consumer Reports. I might have to try the turbo soon! I saw you put in sport mode, never mind. 😂

I am very sure soon I'll be replacing my G37x with this exact car. Finally something that makes lots of sense other than that WRX. Of course Mazda is way better looking than Subaru. I especially love how this car is fully LED'ed (including small mostly unnoticeable places like interior lighting and reverse light).

This thing was almost able to sway me from my Veloster N, but it just wasn't quite what I was looking for. I was probably looking for a new gen MazdaSpeed3, which doesn't sound like is going to happen. If you don't care about having a manual and other performance features, this thing sounds really hard to beat. Looks great, fast, and isn't outrageously heavy/expensive. I hope this does well for Mazda.
@jascospeed

Keep the N , I have a speed 3 and looking for a good alternative since this mazda ain't it. Was looking at a veloster N but it's just too small and 3 doors is hard with kids. Now looking at the Elantra N when it comes out.
@autocrosseverything
@autocrosseverything 3 года назад
@@jascospeed yeah I'm 24 with no kids so the size isn't an issue. For my girlfriend and I, it's got just enough space for long road trips and such. The Elantra N looks absolutely awesome. I hope Hyundai keeps the price in check. They added safety features and new seats to the 2021 Veloster N and the base price jumped like 3k. The Elantra N is probably going to be much nicer inside in terms of material choice and quality, so if that's appealing to you then Elantra should definitely be a better choice. So glad I bought my 2020 when I did though.
@jascospeed
@jascospeed 3 года назад
@@autocrosseverything no kidding I also saw the price jump and was like damn. Never thought I'd be excited for a Hyundai lol ...but man they are killing lately with the N platforms. If the veloster had 4 doors I would've picked up a 2020 manual no doubt.
@autocrosseverything
@autocrosseverything 3 года назад
@@jascospeed totally agree. I absolutely love just about everything about my N, but I don't know if I'd have paid 3k more just for some nicer looking seats and safety tech that I don't want anyway. Have you seen the Sonata N line? Looks pretty sweet if you can deal without a manual. Apparently a Kona N with awd is in the works as well.

The M3T is good car as long as you don't look at this with a enthusiast mindset. The same can be applied to the MXC30. Unfortunately, there's a lot of options to be had at the price Mazda is asking for. Me personally, I will sacrifice some interior quality for outright performance by purchasing a Kona N.

Great review! I personally like the sedan better than the hatchback. I was really excited for the turbo Mazda 3 until I saw the Hyundai Elantra N. That one sounds amazing and the engine has 276hp, cooled seats, rear air conditioning vents, and an entertainment system more intuitive. I do wish it had AWD, like the Mazda 3 turbo. I’m looking forward to the turbo Mazda CX-30 - that one has more features I want and more storage. I’m also excited for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson N. If the Tucson N sounds like the Elantra N, it will be awesome. Although, I hope it has even more power. Exciting times for vehicles!

It had less than 40k miles on it when I bought it, a/c compressor went out at under 50k miles, then just a few months later the transmission. To me, both of those things are showstoppers, not some electrical gremlin with the infotainment system. When you live in Texas and your a/c goes out in July, the car is virutally undriveable except early morning and late at night. The transmission eating itself in spite of being driven normally was the last straw..

Hoping Mazda, will 1. Update to a more simplistic interior mainly the infotainment screen and remove the subtle hump that covers the bottom portion, couple of more usbs wouldn't hurt. 2. Perhaps the next chassis if they can stretch the car by a range of 1.5 to 3.5 inches please give to the rear end sedan and hatch. 3. Front valence vertical front duct and fog lights. Redesign rear end front can use a slight tweak perhaps a more aggressive headlight design. 4. A performance package option. Bbk ? Some type.of diff and body kit. Also adjusting the short redline and raise it 6200-6500 rpm ? Seems like most of reviews suggest short shifting is a normal occurrence for spirited driving. 5. Smaller key fob

Mazda in a tough spot because most of their powertrains are nearing the end of the lifecycle. Soon to be replaced by a new 8 speed auto and I6 or Toyota-partnered hybrid 4. While it's not as performant as it's competitors the one bright spot is reliability, as these powertrains have been around for many years.

Mazda sells AWD manual transmission in Europe and Japan for gas and diesel turbo engines. Just import the parts and swap. To make FULL power in ALL Mazda Skyactiv Turbo 2.5L, replace the PINCHED intake before and after the air filter box with fully round pipes. You'll make 300 HP easily with a tune.
