The 2021 quarterback class was supposed to be something special. The first three picks at the draft were quarterbacks and there were five taken in the first round. Unfortunately the reality has been that the 2021 quarterback has been awful and for most of them, there are no positives in sight.

Depressingly bad is a MAJOR stretch… Lawrence struggled year 1 and hasn’t looked amazing this year but is clearly developing. Trey Lance has looked decent in his time on the field but wasn’t ready to start. Mac Jones literally led his team to the playoffs as a rookie and was a pro-bowler. Justin Fields is starting to put it all together and Davis Mills has almost nothing to work with. For what was expected from most of the QBs in this class I wouldn’t even say they’re underperforming right now. Not every QB will make a Lamar/Mahomes level second year leap.

I agree with everything you said except Mac Jones didn’t lead his team to the playoffs and pro bowl he was a fill in. But of the guys taken in the 1st I got Mac and Trey being the best of the class (mainly based on the teams they were drafted by). I’m worried that the Bears won’t ever get a team around Fields but we will see since they will have 40+ mill to spend next year. Was never sold on Lawrence tho as the golden boy in the draft! The hype he got in college was unreal especially after getting smoked in the Nat by LSU. But aside from the hot takes he is a decent QB that is improving. But being in Jax will never help his case especially since imo he is not that impact guy like Burrow is in Cincy.

Justin Fields is NOT a running QB. Please look at his college highlights and show me plays where he was running all over the place. He’s a fucking passer. An accurate one at that, thats what he did in college to make him a first round draft pick, he PASSED the ball. The Bears run Justin because he can get you 10-15 yds from his legs easily. Most of his big runs are scrambles, turning nothing into something. He can’t be a true pocket passer yet cuz the Bears have a trash O’Line. So please stop acting like running was always the thing he was so good at. Stop going off narratives and actually watch him play.

That´s what you get when you think that 4-5 quarterbacks in every draft class can cut it at pro level. The reality is - most of them can't. Even mathematically, many of them have to fail. There are only 32 starting spots in the NFL. No one really wants to have one of the 6-8 worst QBs in the league. So only around 24-26 QBs of every year's current starters are really there to stay, the rest is often already on a hot seat for the next season. If you take into account that a QB can play at least 10 years at top level, even if he's 25 y/o when drafted, it becomes very obvious that at the very maximum, on average only 2 or 3 QBs every draft class can succeed.

I think the problem is we put way too much expectations on Quaterbacks on their rookie season. Aaron Rogers sat throughout his rookie season, Payton Manning during is Rookie season threw more interceptions than touchdowns. Drew Brees rookie year only threw for 1 touchdown.

Since when have we started saying qbs are busts in year two especially ones that are drafted to rebuilding teams. It takes time to develop into the league you aren’t gonna be a absolute star when you go to the nfl right away. These guys go from playing college guys who have about the same experience as them to guys that can have up to 5 or 6 years experience on them. Joe King But Geno Smith showed us that it depends on what team you go to, all of those guys PROBABLY would've done better onthe right team, Barkley ended up starting elsewhere and did pretty good, Nassib was with the Giants as the backup to an Ironman qb so of course he didn't start with them, I honeslty feel bad for qbs whose careers get ruined all because of what team drafted them, it's simple, some get a second chance on a great team and some don't🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

@@jameshollister8294 Yep, he had bad luck with the Jets, he was gonna be the starter in 2015 but got punched in the face by a teammate that fractured his jaw making Fitz the starter, and then in 2016 he tore his ACL after he replaced Fitz who got benched, at that point I thought it was over for him as he was gonna become a typical draft bust qb who would bounce around the league as a backup for the rest of his career, but instead he got a second chance and (so far) he's done great and looks to end his career with success🙏🙏🙏

If a QB has talent other teams will always give them a chance to be the starter because they think it was maybe the bad team that drafted them that made them suck. Geno Smith is a rare case where he is better because of maturity. He sucked when drafted.

The talent's there for all of them, but they're all (for the most part except maybe Lawrence) inconsistent, it's not fair to criticize qbs who are only in their 2nd year in the league, in year 2 most athletes either improve from their rookie season or have a sophomore slump, so far only Jones is having a sophomore slump while the others have shown improvement, not saying that Jones will go downhill though, and who knows what will happen to Lance after that season-ending injury

Yeah man the nfl is crazy. The issue is the media hypes these guys up, and we they don’t meet OUR expectations were ready to throw them away. For example Trevor never said he was a generational talent, the media did 🤷🏾‍♂️ I feel a lot of qbs in the NFL career was cut short because they weren’t developing at light speed which is insane to me.

Trevor has been the best so far this season in pure passing , fields is a close second but the bears are going to limit his shelf life having him run around all the time he will get hurt.matt Jones is average but is in the best situation. Zach Wilson sucks, a bust. Lance didn't look great when he played, jury is out on him but I think he is not the answer.

Fields has been able to run. Eventually he is going to need to show he can win with his arm. Not saying he can’t, but right now his highlights are him running 18 times a game. Trevor has been good, not great by any stretch but he’s progressing. Wilson is atrocious, Jones is what he is, and he went into a million times better situation than Lawrence or Fields.

Trevor actually is much improved this year. Doug Peterson was the best thing that could’ve happened to him honesty. His issue is inconsistency. He’s had some several wow moments this year, then follows it up with wtf moments the newt week 😂And we have to remember the jags are a rebuilding teams that’s missing a lot of pieces, especially on defense. The jags are actually very entertaining for the most part but we always find a way to lose. Thing is nobody watches the jags so nobody really know anything outside of what they see in highlight reels.
