The 2022 NBA Draft class features a ton of talent like Paolo Banchero and Chet Holmgren, and looks like one of the better draft classes of the past 10 years. #nba #nbadraft #2022nbadraft
The thing to remember with Sochan is that he’s younger than most of this year’s rookies. The spurs knew he would be a project because of how young and raw he was.
and the biggest thing is that he was never an offensive player. wasn’t in college, wasn’t in those international teams, still isn’t now. he shot 28% from 3 in college and now shoots 33% this season. he’s one of those guys who amplifies a talented team, but this team isn’t ready yet. his impact is gonna look SO much better when there are players that play coherently. If the spurs get a starting caliber PG (tre jones is meant for backup PG) and a defensive wing or a really consistent shooter, jeremy sochan will look much better than people think of him rn.
I’m not sure that okc will be able to do that. Not that they aren’t going to be good just that there are going to be to many other good teams and unless you get a top 20 of all time level player it’s very unlikely.
Dynasty? Idk about dynasty but they could win a title. I don’t know if there will be many more dynasties with the way the cap, free agency and CBA are heading. The Warriors got lucky with the Durant signing and the cap spike.
It might be my bias but J Will (Jaylin Williams) could become a solid backup big in the league. J Dub (Jalen Williams) is already solid but J Will might stick around the league longer that people think.
I think Jalen Williams is the next Kawhi Leonard. I could be wrong, but I see so much of Kawhis early game. I think Kawhi was better defensively out the gate, but I think Jalens better offensively. Hes been insanely good. But I do agree with you about Jaylin, I think he's definitely got a place in the league if OKC can help him develop properly. Definitely a bit of a project player, but he's got the physical makeup to be a really good role player, maybe even a starter. Regardless, OKC is the best place he could have landed. They know quite a few things about developing late picks.
@@Identify_As_Right For the way OKC plays, C is the correct position for now. 6'10" 250lbs is plenty big enough to play C at backup, and OKC needs to have a backup C that is a career 39% from 3 like JWil is. Add to that he's actually a pretty good playmaker (2.5 asst/turn ratio) and one of the smartest charge takers in the league, and I completely agree he will be a good backup big in the NBA for a good while. However I would love to see OKC draft Filipowski and be able to actually run some 2 big lineups if all those guys can shoot. Chet and Jaylin have played pretty good together in their limited mins, but honestly OKC has been killed this season when one of those two isn't on the floor.
@@Identify_As_Right He measured 6'10" 236.6 at the combine almost 2 years ago. He and Mark talked about him gaining 10lbs up to 250lbs this off-season. If you are talking Embiid and Jokic, literally nobody can guard them so big whooptie doo if he can't either. Am I suppose to be worried about his matchup of DeAndre Jordan, Naz Reid, Paul Reed, or Bitadze? I like the odds of JWil in those matchups.
About #9 - I think Sochan's biggest challenge in the future is consistency - he can have one night with double-double or near d-d score, just to get line like 2-1-3 in the very next game. If he can accomplish that, he'll develop into good starter for SAS
I think his lack of consistency and the spurs overall lack of consistency actually comes from Tre Jones, as a point guard of the bench he’s great but he just does not find enough people to be that guy. Would gladly trade anyone but vassel sochan Wemby for a good young point guard
Dude, where do you get all your clips from!? I've been a sub for years and always wondered! Huge Magic fan here, and so stoked we have Paolo, I see a ton of content on him, but almost nobody talks about how he averaged 20ppg as a rookie, and he's up to 22ppg in his "Sophomore Slump" season... he's gonna be great for years to come!
@@yungtago9161 JDub on the Nuggets would have been a cheat code. In saying that, he may not have developed into the player we see now if he were used as a rotational piece on limited minutes vs. OKC where he starts all games.
Magic were always going to take Paolo #1. They were misdirecting toward Jabari on purpose to see if they could nab the 2nd or 3rd pick and additional assets. He was always the perfect choice for Orlando. Ironically, 1-5 all went to the perfect situations in terms of need & opportunity.
Yep, they had a rough loss to the Knicks last night but they were up in the 4 seed for a few days there. Now down to 5, but I still believe they could get homecourt when you look at their schedule and relative health vs. some of the other teams in the 4-8 range.
2022 draft class was one of the best I've seen in a long time. We knew Chet and Paolo were going to be good but Jalen Williams a #2 option in his rookie year for OKC is crazy. He has a bright future.
As Cavs, there were three guys I really liked coming into the Draft ( the Cavs had the 14th pick) I liked Ousmane Dieng has a prospect, he had size, he could shoot and he could become an outstanding defender I compared him to a bigger Mikal Bridges I liked Johnny Davis (the bust of this class) at Winsconsin he was someone who could shoot and defend but in the NBA he's been terrible Lastly was Ochai Agbaji at Kansas he was NCAA Champion and MOP despite being the oldest I thought that if the Cavs wanted someone ready they should pick him. Infernous that pick didn't mean much since it got traded from Spida, but it just means that I would have been a terrible GM
Another great video! I genuinely don’t mean this as an insult but just wanted to share that your face looks like a mashup of Conan O’Brien and Minecraft Steve.
@@RD-zx6py Looks are subjective so it could be perceived as an insult depending on the individual. From my side, it was simply an observation that I wanted to share.
I always thought Paolo should have been the number 1 pick because even in college he had "it" he had NBA size, he could get to the rim, and with his size, he could be at least a good defender. Jabari for me was never a choice because I didn't think he had the same skills as Paolo, he could shoot the three but other than that I didn't see anything that moved me. Chet was for me the odd one because either the shooting wouldn't translate or his lack of weight could be an issue, for what I've seen from him it hasn't, the shooting is there and the defense is totally there but even with all of that for me Paolo is the best player from this draft and the Magic have done a great job assembling a team to support Paolo on both sides of the ball.
Chet probably is objectivly better than Paolo rn Slightly Thanks in large part to his rebounding and defense being that much better than Blanchero However I agree with how the choices landed because Chet isnt gonna be a cornerstone on offense(useful asset(3rd option rn) but not cornerstone) However we will see where this goes
@@fate8718in what world is Chet better than Paolo. Let’s not be delusional please. Chet is a role player Paolo is the superstar. Study basketball again
@YourWorstNightmare3333 Chet isnt a role player but abkey part of a big 3 as OKC likes to put it Paulo also aint a "Superstar" they both are stars neither hit superstar There about 9-12 SSs in the league at most Paulo and chet are not them Chet is significantly better defensivly while only slightly worse offensivly Thats why Chet is better
@@fate8718 well Paolo is an All star and Chet isn’t. Paolo’s superstar status was born this playoffs watch him again and tell me that ain’t a superstar. Chet is nowhere near Paolo on offense, he can’t even create his own shot. I watched him in the playoffs seems like we was a role player being carried
Having the year off was big for Chet. Blake Griffin, Ben Simmons, those guys were able to miss the first year and come back and never truly played like rookies because they were so much more comfortable and confident.
I remember watching the draft and thinking "Pick Duren or Mark Williams" I wanted Jdub @11 then Duren at 12 (whichever, doesn't matter) I think it's safe to say Dieng isn't it at the NBA level.
Jeremy Sochan imo is the most interesting player in this draft. He already had the all defense tools holding Luka to a career high in FG misses. Then the same week had a 26pt 18reb game with a game winning 3. Wemby being top 15 player out of the womb completely killed the regular young player patience calendar for him. Jeremy’s a top 10 twenty year old and younger player in the world and that’s without a jumper
They were not considered to be the best draft and they have done quite good. There are some good surprises as well. Sometimes it is funny to look back how people make judgement too quickly😂
As a okc fan jwill isn’t bad but just mid he very inconsistent when he hot he looks like a really good backup but most nights, it just looks like why is he out there Jwill skill set is good but he not good or elite at anything to keep him on the floor consistently not a bad player but just mid as of right now
Can't agree that Paolo was the perfect #1 pick when Chet was still on the board. You're really underrating him acting like he's just a role player and Paolo is a #1 guy.
@@MattDaddyFatStacks A role player is a player who couldn’t be a 1 on a playoff contender for example Mikal Bridges is a role player where as paolo isn’t if anything Chet’s more of a co-star at best while paolo could become a superstar
of course out of this draft class, where every player has been serviceable at least. my team gets johnny davis 💀 (guess it shows how bad the wizards are at developing talent)
Unpopular opinion : I think there should be expansion within the next 2/3 yrs and playoff seedings should be 1-10 and not having teams chill with fighting it out in the playin
Very good draft class but wouldn’t necessarily call it insane like the title says, could eventually shape up to be one of the deepest draft classes we’ve ever seen but not the most star studded, despite the first two picks being two franchise players
In this draft when this consensus top 3 was coming together i was screaming Chet Holmgren should go #1 i thought Paolo Banchero would be good but in the long run i feel Chet will be the best player in this draft. I feel there are some other players here that can argue for top 5 best. Like Shaedon Sharpe or Jaden Ivey. Jeremy Sochan has a chance to be really just because of Wembenyama. Just a great athlete if he can mold into a Draymond Green type watch out. Now Jalen Williams OMG! He is amazing!!! Top 3 right now! Jalen Duren is really good as well. Mark Williams i thought was better than Duren for my taste but both have been good. Kessler was a nice surprise.
@YourWorstNightmare3333 can't control who you play with. 🤷♂️ Chet was and still is a rookie. All I care about is that this is a shooters league and Chet has way more potential to be an elite shooter than Paolo does. Unless he is going to become the 2nd coming of Giannis I think Chet will overall have a better career.
@@Crickily he ain’t a rookie tho him and paolo are from the same class. Paolo shot 40% from 3 in the playoffs. Means Paolo shoots better when the games are high stakes. Chet wouldn’t be playing in the playoffs if he was a first option. Chet will never be better than Paolo cmon now let be serious for once
I remember seeing an interview with Mike Miller and how he advocated to the Magic picking Paolo as #1 and used Jokic as justification, as in he predicted way back about Jokic as a HoF and the Magic believed him. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Gxh_iy4u4hg.html
