Comin' in hot with the 2022 MT09 SP! Let me know if you have a bike you want to see on the channel and don't forget to subscribe and ding that notification bell!
Yeah, YN never should’ve let his talent go. Maybe he was afraid of how good Spite could be if Spite had even a little creative control, but that makes YN’s decision even dumber.
Think about it this way: the majority of growth on Crabby Boob’s channel happened while Spite was effectively the front man of the channel. YN was effectively Spite’s channel with Scabby Pube functioning as the shareholder. A lot of the actual skills which went into producing the content was Spite’s. It’s no surprise that when Spite’s focus is his own channel, all the quality just moves across.
Love how Spite has 30k views in 16 hours and Yam has less than 20k in the same amount of time, not that it's a competition or anything, just feeling it for my boy Spite 💪
Lmao guys yall know he was Tarzan with the other channel. Swinging like no other. But I posted a few months ago that he needed to do his own thing over and over. It's obviously the reason that the other channel hit 1m subs. Daily videos . Anyways I'm with yall he's a good dude and hope he gets atleast 500k
Love my Gen 3 MT09 SP, so freaking good. Hard to find things to replace it with anytime soon. Edit: I find mode 2 relaxes the on/off throttle of mode 1 with still 100% the power band after like 3-4k RPM. I ride mode 2 75% or more of the time. Riding in mode 2 allows me to smooth out acceleration and bring my fuel economy up to 50s MPG when commuting/long rides.
@@stewartowen4626 It's really not that bad. If you are in slow traffic you can always as mentioned switch to a less perky power mode. You can also make it smoother with a ECU flash but would loose some of the engine braking which I like. I found the engine which does send some buzz through the bars and foot pegs made my hands feel slightly buzzy after several hours touring but that can be mitigated if you get the SP with cruise control or thicker gloves/ bar grips. No bike is perfect but as an all rounder the 09 ticks a lot of boxes.
@@leventertekin8398Yn has many low quality videos as they are making to many per week 😆. Spite is doing great I'll definitely keep watching his content!
Firstly, it's good to see that your channel is doing so well and so quickly too. Well done and carry on. Secondly, as a 66 year old returning rider after 20 years without a road bike and deciding to get back into riding I didn't want to overdo things. So, June 2021 after watching hundreds of videos on YT, yes, your last channel as well, avidly. I bought a 2016 KTM 390 Duke and was soon riding 250-300 m twice a week. After 6 weeks I decided I needed a bigger (more comfortable/appropriate) bike. I then bought a 2020 KTM 790 Duke. Both bikes were amazing and I loved them both. However, after web surfing over the winter and probably getting a bit carried away. I found that I'd ordered a new MT 09 SP for delivery in March, I thought? Eventually arrived mid July. Excruciating wait!? I absolutely love this bike and totally agree with all your comments and also feel that my decision has been validated. Apart from the (subjective) comments about the front ends (headlights) on all three bikes, as I, particularly, like them (futuristic/cutting edge). Apologies for length of comment, did try to keep it as short as poss. Keep up the great work. UK viewer.
Btw, for anyone who's interested? I highly recommend Leo Vince LV Race full exhaust (under frame), £720 in UK and exceptional quality item. Just need air filter and Dynojet Power Vision now.😁
WTF? Sorry, I'll continue?? After 6 weeks, I decided that I needed a bigger (more comfortable/appropriate) bike. So I then bought a KTM 790 Duke, loved both bikes. However, after web surfing, over the winter. I found that I had ordered a new MT 09 SP for March delivery, eventually arrived mid July, an excruciating wait. I totally agree with your comments, the bike is fantastic and I now feel as though you have validated my choice, thank you. I do disagree with your (subjective) comments (opinion) about the front end looks' KTM's too? I like all three. To me they look futuristic and cutting edge. I never understand why people like old fashioned looking "Retro" style bikes?? Apologies for length and fucking up my comment.🙄🥱 Keep up the, so far, excellent work.👍
Nice to see another "mature" rider interested in the MT (54 y.o.)! I've wanted one for quite some time, but they are tough to find and no dealership within 200 miles could tell me when they were getting another one. Ended up snagging a bargain on an 07 FZ1 (which I like a lot), but still keeping a lookout...
@@docsamson2299 Hi. yes, my dealer said that no dealer in UK would get more than 4 bikes this year but that they eventually only got 1 each. Fortunately I was the lucky one. Probably because I ordered about £1000 worth of aftermarket extras through them? Wait was terrible but well worth it now that I have it. As Spite said, it has a premium feel to it which is good because I'd only seen pictures of it. Extremely happy with it and I love that headlight. Keep trying, good luck.
And I would totally dis agree with your statement .. you are obviously young & don’t ride often .. a power house of a bike does get exhausting … I.e it’s funner to ride a slow bike fast 😉😉😉🌞 Ahhhh gotta love opinions 🎉
@@deangruwell6555 Youve never heard of the " Its more fun to ride something slow fast than something fast slow." Im not exactly young. Ive got plenty of miles, i know when and when not to use the power. You said it perfectly Gotta love opinions.
Holy Shit Spite. This is better than ANY video I've seen on YN. You are about to be in your fucking bag man. So happy that you finally get to make your OWN shit. Great Video!
@@WingingItCrypto I'm glad to see Spite doing well! I like his detailed, no-nonsense, no BS reviews. He gives the kind of review that I like, the kind of review that I'd try to give, so as to help a bike shopper make an intelligent decision.
Going solo was for the better from what it seems, your content looks and feels very professional. You've got the voice for narration and the personality for hosting RU-vid content and shows. I'm looking forward to a lot more.
I was going to say the exact same talking points. Spite has such a great voice and narration for this content. I find myself skipping over new videos from his previous employer. Really hoping manufacturers notice Spite and invite him to press launches.
It’s interesting to hear your thoughts on the riding modes. My main takeaway is that you probably just don’t like having modes on a bike, which is entirely fair. I don’t like having a sport mode in cars that I drive and completely understand that viewpoint. However in a motorcycle while I’m still learning, I think it would be nice to have some options in terms of power delivery. Great video as always and happy to see you putting out such polished content!
@@jaybosher6144 I agree, and although I own an FTR now it’s not my first bike. There are a lot of people I’ve met for whom it is their first though and ride modes are just a nice addition that if you don’t want to use, you don’t have to.
Seat concepts does have nice options for MT09s, I got the 2up comfort seat for my FZ09. It's a huge upgrade, and also keeps me from squishing my nuts on hard deceleration or braking. I highly recommend. Keep up the good work Buddy!
I own the base 2021 MT09 since March this year. I have 7k miles so far. Couldn't agree more with your impression on throttle response and looks. Not really a fan of the looks, but the CP3 engine makes up for it every time. Also I did want a SP but those are almost impossible to find. And dealer markups on those are insane. Great bike all around and couldn't be happier.
Spite, that First Impression without Specs is really nice in my opinion. I feel like a lot of us get caught up with the numbers before even hear or experience the MC itself. This SP is such a beast at that price point.
Your verdict has sold me, you should get a sales bonus from Yamaha. This MT09 is going to be my first road bike, I have always had dirt. Will look nice in my shed next to my 2022 WR450...
I see this format bringing Spite into the future league of "veteran" motorcycle reviewers. Very professional, largely experienced and well versed in his thoughts. Very calculated and honest. Something we all love! Looking to see where he is in 5 years because quality moves you forward quickly.
Absolutely loving the channel, great in-depth video and the cheese burger confession half way through made me laugh my ass off 😂 Also it’s nice hearing the pure joy you get from this crazy bike!
Spite is absolutely brilliant in presentation, Spite you are uniquely absolutely a lot freer since starting your own gig. I am very proud to follow you here to your new house, still subtle and easy going in description to details, you simply bring joy to review of riding to work,, well done, whistling while you're working, love it, carry-on dude 😎🤠 brilliant...
In the last week I have realized that on the YN channel, I watched Yam for clownish behavior and ridiculous scripts, and Spite and the others on the channel for actual motorcycle content that I listened to. I'll be here for whatever Spite has to say. I'll go over to YN if I need some yucks.
Well your wrong! I own a 2019 MT09 and it has no on and off jerk to it at all. Yamaha did a great job with the mapping. It will be as smooth as the twist of your wrist is. I ride in A mode all the time and it gives me a very smooth ride! I am glad I didn't listen to all the comments I read before I bought the bike!
Man o man Spite, you’re coming out swinging and it’s awesome. Great format, great review, and damn it’s nice to have you at the helm of a review again.
I “transferred” my subscription the hour “the video” was uploaded simply because I didn’t know you had your own channel before. I was disgusted at what happened to you. I’m genuinely happy for you. You are turning what was a terrible, unethical moment in your life into the biggest opportunity and blessing in your life… I can’t wait for you to look back at how it all worked out. So many of us will be here for the long haul. You’re killing this, my guy.
Traded my SP for a GSXR. NO COMPARISON! GIXXER is way better bike. Love the hooligan motor on the MT but the chassis is no match for the motor. Gixxer has great balance. Good motor great chassis. Needs to be 160-165 crank horsepower.
Nice review man! Now, can we get a comparison between the 09sp and the new xsr900? I'm trying to decide between these two and would love to get your thoughts!
This channel is going places and I’m here for it. I’m very excited to see how you expand and the kinds of segment you evolve into. How many subs would it take for you to cross over into a private studio space like other channels? As for the bike, I would be very interested in seeing a comparison to the same model year tracer gt.
Definitely on my bucket list of bikes. I’d like to try all the triple cylinder bikes at some point. I don’t think there’s a single boring one. Don’t get why every major bike maker doesn’t use triples. Great vid Spite, you’re really finding your stride!
I have a 21 MT09 and I never find first gear jerky at all but I have heard others do. I wonder if the US have different maps compared to us here in Australia. U;n coming from a z900rs, which was SO on/off that I actually traded it for the mt09 and have been so happy with the decision.
Interestingly, I didn't have a problem with the throttle on the old MT-09, but the MT-07 for some reason does feel to me the way you describe the 09SP. I also loved the old -09 for commuting. On the highways I need a little weight for help against the buffeting of all the trucks that pass through LA. Great review! I can't wait to pick it up!
I'm guessing that new emission restrictions make it more difficult for manufacturers to manage mapping of on/off throttle transitions, however I think the softer ride modes ease the snappy response. I need more time using other modes than mode 2 to confirm this.
Variations in manufacturing, from what I can tell. My T7 is pretty good, but other people have more trouble. Staying on top of the cable slack helps a bunch, though.
Really glad to see your content being pushed by the youtube algorithm! I don't want to come in here flinging shit at someone specific since you've handled things with such class and I won't disrespect that, but man it's just that; class. Wish other people could be like that. I've voiced my fair share of opinions on yammienoob's (mostly just stuff you did, for reasons lol) but that's only because I had a baseline respect for what you did in the first place. I think you've got it in you to go places man. This whole thing has almost inspired me to start doing content of my own even. Good luck man, wherever you end up going as long as you're doing it on youtube I'll be there doing my part clicking the thumbs up haha.
Bro, I am predicting it right now, you will love the new xsr900 once you get the chance to ride it. :) From what i saw in your vid it seems to have a much smoother throttle, too. Great Vid.
I think it's longer too, maybe a longer swing arm. It's probably way more comfortable. Definitely better looking, in my opinion. Plus, you'd be saving a grand, so you can do a few mods.
Amaaaazing ep brother the style of the video, the quality, the segments, all of it. So happy for you brother. That being said DAMN YOU SPITE. I wanted an mt09 before this video and now I muuuuuust attain the beast lol. All respect and love brothah!!
Agreed on the cruise control. I haven't had it yet but I am getting ready to buy what I hope will be a long term daily bike, and I may be making my buying decision based on whether it has cruise control. Unfortunately a 650 class bike is kind of my perfect bike, and getting cruise in that market space is pretty tough.
Cruise control is where it's at. Keeps your speed from creeping up or down and helps fit in with traffic more. It should help with MPG over long distances and it's nice being able to let go of the throttle and give your right hand a break when it goes numb.
Check out the CFmoto bikes for cheap cruise control capable bikes. Other than that I think the KTM 890 platform has some sort of option for cruise control, but not available from factory. Honda rebel 1100 supposedly has it as well.
Just what I was looking for in this new (ish) channel, Spite's straight foreword opinions and insight. I would love to see a retrospective version of this with older bikes. Not only would it be fun to get your opinion on bikes of yesteryear, but from a logistics standpoint it would probably be easier to get a hold of older models with the added bonus of being ones people will most likely be buying vs $11-15k that most bikes go for now. Loving it so far though!!!
Just my $.02 as a former owner, if you can find an earlier model FZ09 jump on it. I had a 2016 FZ09, and it had some upgrades tuned with a Graves Exhaust, CRG mirrors and Pazzo levers and at 57yrs old, it was the MOST fun bike I ever owned in 20yrs of riding...you can get a good one for around $6 - $8K
Great review. Like the format of actually taking it on a longer ride then just a quick jaunt. Minor nitpick is no mention of it having a 6 axis IMU now also like some of the really premium bikes.
Opinions are like assholes as we know but Ive got a 2022 Duke and rode my friend brand new Mt09. Duke all day. But Its like shoes, it all depends on what fits. Personal preference plays a lot into it. Ive not had good luck with the Yammis ive had since 89 but not a problem with any KTM I’ve owned since 99. I know others have had the opposite experience. In the 22 mt09 defense, its better than the previous model. Milage varies from user to user. Have a blessed one
@@Mr450pro Ive got a 2022 890 adventure with 7k on the odometer as well. No issues at all but for the scratched handle bars in shipping. Swapped those out for pro taper adv high bars immediately. And with complete confidence ill trade that 890adv for a 1290 when the 2024s are released.
You mentioned the styling. And that’s a vibe lol. However, the SP is better looking than the standard 09. The black helps hide the funky body lines and cyclops eye ball lol
@@ridenm7748 That's exactly why I wound up buying a very lightly used 2021 MT-09. My dealer said they'd only received two 2022 MT-09s when I bought mine, about 3 weeks ago.
I really like that my Aprilia Tuareg 660 has cruise control and it comes on in 3rd gear. Super useful for having to hit that random Google maps notification that pops up about traffic when I'm trying to cruise the back roads. I could be in third year and set it at 25 miles per hour if I need it which is also good for fixing a zipper or whatever else. Oh by the way you should totally find someone with one of these since you like your KLR and do a video on it. I would let you take mine for a spin but I'm a little far away being up in Pennsylvania lol
You can't hold back real knowledge, experience and heart and soul. Spite you are a true soul Rider. The Harley days shine through you and you project it well. Live to ride!!!! Becoming One with a machine and being able to project that experience in words is gift. I wish you the greatest of success 🙌🙏 Take Care, Just another Soul Rider!
Love the video and deep dive. I haven't really been interested in Yamaha since the mid 00's but the MT09 SP could have a spot in the stable. Thanks for the great vid Spite!
Spite your content is looking fantastic! Great choice doing the new mt09, definitely not enough info out about this bike as far as reviews. Your video quality is superb as well. Looking forward to more videos about it.
Honestly, it's because it's a strange mid teir machine.. not a 750, not a 1000, but dead in the middle. Also.. judging by a stiff aluminum chassis, and suspension upgrades, we're gonna see an R9 and hopefully that xsr gp..
You absolutely crushed this review. Glad to hear the absolute joy in your voice when ripping on that throttle. If you were in Nebraska, I'd let you take out my '22 MT-10 SP. It's an absolute blast and a motorcycle I'm keeping for life. That's how much I love it. Keep up the kick-ass content!
