Even though the colors are new, the frames look the same. Frame geometry is the same, but some changes have been made to the Rise carbon, now it will accept the 540Wh battery.
Check out the article on www.emtbforums.com for a closer look at the specs and geometry.

Great comparison and explanation of updates! Thank you!

Nice comparison. I got my m10 2022 last week for awesome price. It was near 5k €. I love the bike! Awesome suspension and gear, wouldnt trade for newer one with lower spec, just because of couple of grams, which you gain with one bottle of water :D

Is there an Alloy version with the new lighter 360Wh battery ? And What do you think will be the weight of the new H10 with this new 360 battery ?
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 Год назад
As always excellent video with great explanation. So the previous 360Wh battery was 2.2036 kgs (163.4Wh/Kg battery wt) and the updated 360Wh battery is now 1.897 kgs or 189.7Wh/Kg weight which seems to be about the current top end of battery energy density for these e-MTB's. The 34 lbs Orbea Rise must feel very fun to ride and that $15,999 USD MSRP...Wow!
@EMTBVideos
@EMTBVideos Год назад
Yeah, 1.9kg for that battery makes it competitive. The old one at 2.2 kg was almost as heavy as the 430Wh Fazua battery. The Forestal and TQ 360Wh batteries are a tad lighter at 1.8kg.
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 Год назад
@@EMTBVideos So Forestal is at 200Wh/Kg battery weight - that is perhaps the best energy density on a complete battery available to date.

Does the new suspension link fit the 2022 rise?

Great video, can you really tell a big difference between alloy and carbon while riding?
@EMTBVideos
@EMTBVideos Год назад
We rode the 2022 alloy H30 and the 2022 carbon M10 this year. One is 18.8kg with 150mm travel fork, the other is 21kg and 140mm lower quality suspension. These are of course quite different. The carbon bike feels nimbler, but that is not just down to the frame material. I'd say there is a noticeable difference between the alloy and carbon versions. With the bigger battery and frame weight penalty, the weight adds up and it can be noticed. The weight difference has increased fro 2023, as the 360WH battery now is 300g lighter. Coming from a regular full fat emtb, the alloy Rise still feels light.

Is the newer ep6-rs motor detuned version from an original 85nm ep8 motor? I've read in the forums on 2022 ep8rs bikes, you could buy aftermarket software tuning and basically make the ep8rs motor on the Rise models and tune them back up to 70-80nm safely? Do you foresee this being an option on the ep6rs motor? Would you recommend 22 Rise H10 or the 2023 Rise H10 motor if i were to want to do the aftermarket tune to 70--80nm tq?
@EMTBVideos
@EMTBVideos Год назад
Orbea had forgotten to add the RS software on one of the Rises I rode. We compared it against a regular EP8 (800) bike and decided the Orbea would output about 75Nm, perhaps a tad less. We had set the Orbea to 85Nm in the Etube app. It could be the BMS was limiting maximum current draw, so the motor wouldn't do more than ~75Nm. The new EP6 (and EP6-RS) seems to be very similar to the old EP8 (800). But it is running the new 2nd gen BMS and batteries. If I'm correct in my assumption the BMS is the limiting factor, chances are that will have changed for the new EP6 and EP8 (801). I would assume people making third party apps for Shimano Steps will try to remove the RS detune. And I wouldn't be surprised if they come up with something, but it might not work the same way as it used to. I never tried the third party tuning apps, and I stay away from derestriction hacks. But I guess the 2022 Rise is the safest bet if you want to increase the torque. This is just me speculating, I don't know enought about this.

@@EMTBVideos as usual great feedback! I think I saw your video you're mentioning that you were also comparing to a Bosch? Was that a Carbon model or rise alloy? I wonder if the batteries in the alloy rise are able to handle more power since it's a bigger battery
@EMTBVideos
@EMTBVideos Год назад
@@f2performancelab I was using an alloy Rise when I came up with the theory of the BMS limiting the maximum motor output to ~75Nm. A 540Wh battery consisting of 30x 21700 cells should work fine with an 85Nm EP8. YT Decoy is using the same battery design with the EP8. I think Orbea should allow that, and I'm not sure why they're holding back. We have done some testing of the old EP8-RS vs Bosch P-CX. At 60 cadence, we didn't pedal much harder with the EP8-RS. About 120W vs 140W of rider input to cover the same hill at the same speed and gear ratio. Here, the RS motor feels almost like a full power motor, but it couldn't keep up at higher cadence+speed.
@f2performancelab
@f2performancelab Год назад
@@EMTBVideos Yes I really like when you guys do those cadence data tests! Are the results across the different motors readily available in one website?
@EMTBVideos
@EMTBVideos Год назад
@@f2performancelab I planned on doing a motor comparison article on www.emtbforums.com. And probably on YT. But we need more data for some motors, and I fear I just broke the watt meter pedals :/ It will be out eventually.

It's getting a few years old, so it should be cheaper than the newly launched bikes. At a good price, it's still a fun and pleasant trail bike.

The 2022 h15 compares closer to the 2023 h10 than to the 2023 h20, as both have fox 36 and float X shock. The 2023 h20 would be the 2022 h10 with performance suspension instead of factory.
@EMTBVideos

Yeah, the new H10 is more similar to the old H15. I was trying to say the H15 has been replaced by the H20, but things got a bit out of hand (:

What do you think of the new Orbea Wild FS models? Unaas has a pretty good pre-order campaign which knocks off 1.5-2k off the price. I'm really considering the H10 (highest end alu model, 6.5k price tag) or perhaps M-TEAM, altough 8+k is a bit much in terms of what I would pay for a bike (^:
@EMTBVideos
@EMTBVideos Год назад
I think the new Wild looks very interesting. If you can live with it, there are so many advantages to having an internally fixed battery, less cost, less weight, less flex. I'm quite dissappointed they fitted the Rockshox 35 Silver TK fork to the H30, H20 and M20 though. The M20 can be personalized. With a Fox 38, XT brakes and the 625 battery, it's just over 80k nok. But customizing could push delivery dates, a stock H10 looks very interesting too.
@erichbachman7363
@erichbachman7363 Год назад
@@EMTBVideos Yeah, I don't fancy the Rockshox 35 Silver TK. I guess having fox 38 perfomance with just low speed rebound and compression is fine. I don't really know how to setup suspension, so I guess Elite version just have a chance of making it worse. I did have a 38 factory and it was always super harsh on the low bump, but thats due to my lacking suspension-setup-skills xD.

I haven't seen anything about backwards compatibility. The only thing I found is "Compatible with removable new electric cable SD300". That's the new cable that came with the EP8. But I don't know if Orbea use this new cable on all models, the old cable can be used with an adapter.

Do yo know the 540wh battery will fit to old carbon models?
@EMTBVideos
@EMTBVideos Год назад
No, unfortunately it will not fit. There was some talk about the 540 battery being too big for the old carbon frame. Not sure if that was true, but the battery connection doesn't fit. There is a new connector for the 540 and the new 360Wh battery.

what is the weight of the m10 2023 modell? where can you buy it? :)
@EMTBVideos
@EMTBVideos Год назад
I asked for the weight of all models, but Orbea stopped responding at that point. I weighed the 2022 M10 in size L to 18.8kg. The new motor saves about 300g. The new rear suspension rocker saves a bit, but I guess the new internal cable routing ads some. So my guess is ~18.5kg for the 2023 M10 size L. Bikes can be bought from www.orbea.com. They list all dealers on their website, so you might find one where you live.

What weight is they H30 model?
@EMTBVideos
@EMTBVideos Год назад
We asked Orbea, but they didn't answer. We weighed the 2022 H30 in size L to 21kg with tubes. I would assume the new H30 is at least 21,4kg. The new one has the EP6-RS which is heavier, wheels could be heavier, Deore 12s cassette is a tad heavier than the M7100 on the old model. And I guess that's okay, for a relatively cheap alloy bike with a 540Wh battery.

The H10 gets the EP801. The H20 and H30 gets the EP6. I say the rattle noise is much improved, but I'm not sure it's totally gone on this bike. I rode the EP801 on a rebuilt 2022 bike before riding this bike. It seemed the rattle was completely gone on that bike.
