The 2023 ram already has the digital dash btw, from rebel and up.
@ClaGaCla

I am super happy to see that the Ram REV will be a more normal looking truck. The concept had me worried that they’d follow in the footsteps of some EV makers and make it weird for weirdnesses sake (‘cause EVs have to be DIFFERENT, don’t you know) even that means making it impractical and/or more difficult to use. Like leave out the driver display and such. Thankfully, this truck will have all the features we want/need and it is an incredibly handsome truck, too!! I love the looks! It doesn’t have a bad angle, the front looks very cool and aggressive enough without getting to the point of looking awkward/clunky and while also still retaining a certain elegance and the inside looks super nice as well. All in all, this takes first place for me in terms of which truck I’d get!!
@makatron
@makatron Год назад
Yeah the concepts tend to go nuts but for production designs they gotta follow proper mass production designs otherwise it'll be more expensive to make due to special tooling. Even with the bigger battery offering 500 miles and the range extender engine it'll be a good contender to dethrone F-150 if they're able to make them fast enough.
@smileymac8017
@smileymac8017 Год назад
I will want the range extender or PHEV truck also. Just makes way more sense. I can drive all electric around town and hybrid on a road trip.
@directorjustin
@directorjustin Год назад
It's worth noting that PHEVs typically come with a big hit to performance and long range efficiency. They also have a lot more complexity which means a lot more to break.
@pauld6967
@pauld6967 Год назад
@@directorjustin I haven't had anything break on my PHEV of 4 years and thanks to the large fuel tank, battery+electric puts max range over 600 miles. It hasn't given me any problems during 400+ mile road trips. I can charge at the office, so I only burn gas on the way to the office in the morning. 12 days normally between filling the tank and consistently averaging over 50 miles per gallon between full tanks. Zero range anxiety thanks to having the gasoline engine. So, I would be inclined to get a PHEV pickup to go with my PHEV car rather than getting a pure EV pickup. That said, this RAM's saddleback storage in the wheel arches is a very nice touch.
@makatron
@makatron Год назад
@@directorjustin still a very simple system since most of what tend to break in the regular cars is mechanically. And the range extender is plugged from the charging side thus not complicating anything in the shared platform, just gotta maintain the ICE with the regular oil and filter changes.
@williamtaylor3091
@williamtaylor3091 Год назад
Well of course it has an estimated 500 mile range, the largest battery pack is 74 percent larger then the largest on offer in the F150. I’m not sure if anyone has watched any content on the F150 or own one, but charging one of those takes forever. Now imagine a battery 74 percent larger. Keep in mind, that is “up to 350 KW” of fast charging, a number you aren’t likely to hit unless conditions are perfect and the battery is preconditioned. I own an ioniq 5 in New England and never charge above 110 KW at a fast charger when it’s bellow 50 degrees. understand the push for electric trucks, but you can build 3 ioniq 5s with the same battery size as one of these top spec Ram REVs
@alexnutcasio936
@alexnutcasio936 Год назад
Don’t worry William. 500 on battery alone, even with ECO , is a fantasy. Even Lucid, with a huge battery and super efficient motors, can’t get 500 miles and that’s a car.
@AAutoBuyersGuide
@AAutoBuyersGuide Год назад
This battery is more than twice the size of the lucid battery. It’s enormous
@hellkitty1014
@hellkitty1014 Год назад
As bad as I wanted to see a stand-alone Ram Rev similar to the concept, this makes more sense, both in reality and business. Costs must be kept in(relative) check, which I won't hold my breath on affordability. The big bomb is the range. 500mi is more than just about anything short of the Ecodiesel. And fast charging should be a boon, but charging infrastructure overall is still seriously lacking...
@directorjustin
@directorjustin Год назад
Also, while those big range numbers may seem excessive to the average EV owner, they're necessary to tow heavy loads and still maintain reasonable range.
@makatron
@makatron Год назад
@@directorjustin I'd think it could do at least 220 miles pulling the max.

Very sharp truck since I used to own a '19 Ram 1500. I do miss the sound of the 5.7 Hemi. What nobody mentions is the price of charging these electric vehicles has gone up unless you charge at home. While every manufacturer is pushing EVs because of the stupid government, the best way to go is the hybrid versions of trucks and cars. I don't think I will ever commit to a "full electric" vehicle again. I do say again because I did own a BMW i3 at one point. Even that had the REX on it and wasn't total electric. The REX on that would only kick on what battery power was down to very low levels due to Kommiefornia laws applied to the BMW i3, forcing you to run electric 99% of the time.

I feel like the efficency is very maybe even too optimistic specially with the weight a battery that size + all those features and amenities and a suspension that can handle all that weight + another almost an extra ton and half of weight of payload , very impresive battery in the vehicle for sure but i really think if the Ultium based trucks feature the 212 kwh battery it will have longer IRL range with its more aero design and the inherit efficency improvement from being unibody-based vs frame based build. however if everything being said becomes reality and they dont pull another "here's what you want to see and here's whats actually coming to production" i'll definitely be giving it second thought. given the recent rug pull though i'm not quiet ready to cancel my Silverado EV reservation just yet.

That's nice, I suppose, that they want to put all the luxury goodies in there. I personally want an PHEV/EV pickup that is simply a two-door cab, long bed, work truck. It doesn't need any of the bells and whistles to make it a pseudo luxury car. I just want it to be able to get the job done AND have fantastic gas mileage/range, be it a PHEV or pure EV.

Kia did it right, their GT model is only $2000 or $3000 more expensive than their GT-Line model for the EV6. For is charging $76,000 (before mark-ups) for the Mach-E GT, they're not thinking about making them for normal people.
