Hi guys, I just want to share my experience. I suffered from constipation for about 12 years since my 1st born child. I had to get grade 4 hemorrhoids removed. Magnesium in my personal opinion does work, however, not for a long-term solution for me. In my battle with constipation, I have learned that organic local prunes have helped and also some coconut water. stay hydrated and do some twisting motions where you keep the bottom half of your body still and twist your upper body side to side to help things get moving. And as everyone says eat your fiber ♥️ hope this helps someone

Since centuries the optimal manner to overcome not only occasional constipation but chronic constipation too will be taking castor oil. Remember that castor oil is the only laxative that will not work in the intestines by irritating them, but by activating and synthesizing certain substances in the human body. So any habituation of the human body or diminishing laxative effect is absolutely impossible and castor oil is suitable in a special manner for chronic constipation. Take 1 tablespoon (= 15 ml) castor oil early in the morning on an empty stomach and 1 to 2 hours later you will remark its relieving effects.
Thank you for all you do Dr Mindy! I developed constipation when I started fasting. What helped me was magnesium glycinate and also adding in apple cider vinegar! I add a tablespoon with lemon in 16oz of water and I drink it before meals. It has really helped me so much! ❤
I did my first 40 hour fast and ended up constipated for the first time in years. My stomache hurt for 2 days. It was my fault. I had set my mind on a 40 hour fast and when hour 40 rolled around, I was at Trader Joe's doing my grocery shopping with a couple more errands to run before I could get home. I grabbed a vegan protein bar that had only 1 gram of sugar. Big mistake. My gut was not happy. I don't eat that much protein in one sitting and I don’t eat processed food. Next time I will be be prepared and bring something if I won't be home. 2 days later my bowels are normal and I did take magnesium before bed last night for sleep. I love Dr. B.
I feel so much better I take magnesium taurate now! I read up on it and it lowers blood sugar and blood pressure, it has helped me with my bathroom issues and also sleeping!

I am your fan Dr. Mindy. I’m recovering from three years or more of intense stress. I’ve gained so much weight and I’m ready to get back to healthy. My intestines have always run a bit on the loose side, so I stay away from things that will create diarrhea. Thankfully, most of the time my intestines are regular.

Is this fasting program only for a plant based community? I don’t have a problem with the keto friendly fruits and veg in a small amount but I am a ketovore . It appears as I learn more about Dr Mindy’s program (I love the fasting idea) is that if one is not plant/ seed based it is not for them. I am a life time anaemic and a meat base keto has always worked for me. I also believe our way back ancestors, did not pile on the veg and fruits ,meat was the priority. The rest was emergency food when things were lean and some seasonal fruits. I understand we evolve but to say this mimics them I think is a stretch. I do love listening to Dr Mindy and I will try fasting with a ketovore approach. I do eat salads and berries high fat yogurt etc. I will try upping more carbs on my non fast day. Anyone else meat based trying this fasting approach? I did carnivore for three months and never felt constipated / uncomfortable, I also didn’t have a bowel movement daily . Good luck to all on a fasting journey.

I’m confused as I hear you say many different things about how to break your fast. Sometimes I hear protein… Sometimes I hear break your fast with a fat like avocado and now I’m hearing the three p”s so what is the first thing we should eat when we break our fast?
Tried the BiOptimizers Breakthrough for two weeks and my gut is a mess now. Bloated, more constipated then before taking it, and constant stomach cramps. I have insomnia now as well. I even tried taking half the dose thinking the recommended was too much for me. What a waste of money and now I have to deal with even more health problems because of it. I thought I could trust your recommendations when it comes to weight loss and gut health but I feel deceived into buying a product that severely set me back.

It could also be that the kinds of the magnesium are a problem for you. Not every product is for everyone, we are in charge of our health and not everything works for everyone. Coffee and caffeine are poison; caffeine is a destructive drug and its effects get worse the longer you use it. They both destroy the gut and lead to leaky gut. Research it. Read Caffeine Blues.

I've heard this idea on the floating or sinking stools: Stool is denser than water and usually sinks, but it can float if it contains too much fiber, fat, or gas. This could stem from an infection, irritable bowel syndrome, and other health conditions. If an individual's stool floats often, it may be the result of their diet or a medical condition.
Glad to see your comment. I have heard it’s different for everyone and that most of all to judge by how it comes out. It should be swift and easy as Dr. Mindy says plus formed. I heard if it leaves skid marks it’s too much sugar, and that one wipe should do it- anything more and it’s not the healthiest poop.
I would check my hydration #1st It's easy to forget !! Iron supplements constipate most people so may need to add in figs /senna / rhubarb to counteract any constipation.
I have struggled with this long before fasting… my go to right now is ascorbate cleanses… I would love to know your opinion on that… I haven’t done the daily dose recommended by dr Jaffe but definitely have used high doses even to cleanse levels

I need help understanding what fiber is. I’m always told to eat fiber, but nobody specifically tells me what is fiber. Vegetables? I need to be educated on what foods are considered fiber. Thank you so much I love your videos!❤
I think that is what might be happening to me! I overdo fiber and all the time drink water like a camel lol and notice when I don’t eat that much fiber, I don’t get constipated!

Hey thanks for this vid. I take a lot of mct but carbs and the amount of mct I take gave me undesired consequences. So I moved to more carnivore. That moved me too much in the other direction. This vid helps; thanks.
Have you ever used linseed/flaxseed tea? I often break my fast with this before moving onto my other foods. Would love to hear your thoughts on linseed tea in general. I have found that it has helped with my constipation. Thank you for all the wonderful information!

I got your "Fast Like a Girl" book, it has transformed my life just by reading it, now I am creating my personal schedule with the principals I learned from the chapter "The Fasting Cycle" in order to put into practice all I learned, however, I got a question, please. During the Nurture Phase you recommend not to excessive excessive but to maybe do yoga, hiking or long walks... thus my question is: what is the recommendation for excising during the Power & Manifestation phases, please? Always remember that I do not recommend heavy workouts during the prolonged fasting window. You can do any exercise during those days but only in a short fast like no longer than 24 hours. 🙂
Surely if you need to have magnesium every night for a regular bowel movement and if you don’t take them you begin to back up then something is wrong with something.
Some people are just genetically predisposed to constipation because of generations of poor health and habits being passed down. IBS-C unfortunately runs in my family so we're starting from a flawed baseline. Now that we know better thanks to educators like Dr. Mindy, we can give our bodies that little extra boost it needs to repair the damage and maintain a more natural state. Why suffer like our parents did if we don't have to?
@@jencollier8306 I don't disagree with you but I'd rather be dependent on a natural supplement than on intense prescribed medications like I have been. That combined with major lifestyle changes should make a difference, even if it never completely goes away. My goal is to eventually wean myself off of most (if not all) traditional medicines, hopefully with the help of Fast Like a Girl! I wish you the best on your own journey, as well 😊

The BiOptimizers link you provide, the page shows a 25% discount but on the checkout page it's changed to 10%. NOT impressed with deceptive practices like that!
Dr Mindy, BiOptimizers offer a whole protocol of magnesium supplementation with their product. Is that what you are recommending? This is completely different to taking two supplements every night as you suggest. Is their supplementation protocol, the way they recommend to take the supplements, suitable to use with FLAG or should we take the supplement like you do?
I have the exact opposite issue & I've been fasting for 4 months...suggestions please. I've just added digestive enzymes since I've had my gall bladder removed..so far no changes after 5 days on enzymes

Hi, just reading people's comments. With Bentonite clay..make sure is purchased from a reputable company. I do baths for detoxification..but also make sure for clogging you pipes. I never ingested, even though you can mix a teaspoon in distilled water stirringwe with wooden spoon, no metal.. let it sit..and drink it. Clay will settle at bottom of the glass. VNS,( vagus nerve stimulation)..which is best. magnesium are wonderful. Good luck. 👍

I have been constipated for years. Continued stress and extended use of naproxen may be the Culprit. I no longer get the urge to go and I have tried everything. Fiber, exercise, water. Pre and probiotics nothing has worked. Any suggestions? I do I IF at different lengths 5 days per week for years, long before I discovered your channel.
@@cherie2174 I just watched podcast Huberman lab with Sachin Panda (expert scientist on IF) and I now understand that certain people especially women, should not vary their fast for fast for long period. It resets your cortisol levels which in turn keeps you am fasting glucose high waiting for your feeding window to start. It’s more important to keep a steady feeding time if 10 hours combined with Mediterranean diet and calorie restriction 20% of your total allowed, calculators are online. I have tried good fat in am and vinegar at night but my numbers were better before I started varieties of my IF feeding window.
