I survive 3 days on whatever I can stuff into a 5 gallon pale (with the lid closed). It's actually harder than you think. I mean, I really tried to get a small 2p tent in there, and it wouldn't fit, at all. I manage to fit some pretty cool things inside this odd shaped container including an axe, saw, and some pretty amazing traps. I will catch fish, trap animals, and build a shelter. What would you put in your bug out bucket if you were a prepper?

also where is a good place to get that tarp or one similar. i cant find any in stores that are big, have tie down holes and a reinforced edge like that. atleast in physical stores, iv checked Walmart, Lowes, home depot, tractor supply and other local stores. swear iv been looking for a good tarp for years lmao. i rly didn't want to have to order it online cos that just seems like too much work for a tarp lol.

@@MangScoots I found it at Princess Auto, but I don't think it's like a regular stocked item, but you can check online. Usually they get shipments of different products in on the cheap. I agree with you though, it's hard to find a good tarp anymore! I think mine is larger than this one: www.princessauto.com/en/10-x-12-ft-all-purpose-woodland-camo-poly-tarp/product/PA0008924862. You can also find some more rugged tarps there too, and larger!

I would recommend having your life-saving stuff on top of the bucket. If you have to use this bucket as a last resort SHTF measure, you will probably be dehydrated by the time you get to it. Fire starter and headlamp for emergency warmth and being able to see in case you get to the bucket at night. You could add some granola bars or some other high calorie snack to the bucket to give you a boost until you get results from fishing, hunting, or trapping. Love your content and your positivity!

Hey chris. I know you have your own daily challenges however I consistently think of your and Mr.Hansen's survival challenge down in texas. I learned a lot about a dry environment, fire ants, AND it was the first time I ever seen an alligator gar on video. My point - I would love to see you in a completely different/ opposite environment than your used to and surviving in it. I guess more specifically and blatantly the southeast u.s. (florida) the southwest (arizona) or something much more tropical like australia or thailand/ new guinea. You're a northern bushman so I would love to see a 'first time' in a new environment with your already pre-existing skills from a different biome. Enjoyed this one!
@shadowthorn9569
@shadowthorn9569 18 дней назад
With a tarp that big, I'd do a lean to with a ground cover. That way you have a dry spot to sit and lay down while still having ample cover over head, and you'd only need 2 sticks to prop up the corners for the cover and make four pegs for the base. Toy could also pile up debris like grass and bows under the ground cover section to have a more comfortable bed. I am impressed you managed to get so much stuff in that bucket, very well packed.
@TheWoodedBeardsman

I've been doing survival bucket caches for a long time now. I never put food of any sort in them for one reason food residue will grow mold. Now for my bucket I'll put a pistol, ammo, knife, fire, shelter, candling, and the ability to obtain food and water, folding saw, fiskars hatchet, cordage/snare wire, hand fishing kit. Then whatever free space is left I'll fill with extra gear like extra hooks weights etc etc. Your bucket would be good for Basecamp supplies but traveling with it not so much.

Great challenge idea, I would add a small metal container for boiling water and cooking, the dog food bag could snuggle in it for room. Maybe you can squeeze in a small boat ration that comes wrapped in foil and lasts five plus years. Those are the only things I can think of that I would want to add to your bucket. 🙂👍

spices is something that I never thought about putting in a survival kit. It sounds like a waste of weight but having some pepper or a spice mix changes the way food taste and could help with the problem of eating the same thing for a lot of meals and help with the mental fatigue.

The problem I found was that the saw, axe tilt on top of the 2x330 spoiled a lot of room. And then things really didn't fit around them. I could have easily fit this, and a lot more into a back pack for example. The bucket is just a weird shape that doesn't move. But it does keep things protected from the elements unlike a pack!

Hi Chris, I thought of a couple items you might like to add to your bucket that wont take much space. First is a few plastic grocery bags, a knife sharpener stone (for your knife, saw and axe), a pair of gloves (like the white ones with black buttons.) Oh almost forgot. A telescopic fishing rod with a small reel. one last thing. I don't know if you know a tarp will stretch when wet, you might want to use slip knots on the tie lines to tighten it. Like the concept of the video.

a colapsable spinning rod and reel with 20lb braid and plenty of softbaits and jigs would be perfect. Second If you can find a large pot that is just small enough to fit the inside of the bucket with not much wiggle room would allow you to have a large metal pot. Prob have to remove the handles, but drilling out the rivets and including some bolts would let you put them back on. If they are legal in your area you can also get auto fishing reels, spring loaded coil with retractor. Pull out to set and a small tug they retract hooking the fish. Prob 4'' accross and less than an inch tall. Coiled paracord laying in the bottom takes up very little space and can be stripped apart for smaller line or used as is. Vasoline in a ziplok or maybe bag balm would give you some minor medical treatment and use as a firestarter as well. I have used none of these in a survival situation, but just some ideas you might find usefull. collapsable mesh minnow traps work pretty well also which would lay flat and give you easy bait for fish or animals if you have a small stream or pond nearby. Might also catch crawfish depending on where u are.

Have you thought about applying to be on one of those survival shows like Alone or Naked and Afraid? Would be cool to see you on an episode and you're obviously qualified.

I have been asked before, but never bothered to go along. I applied to ALONE for like season 3, but I didn't advance passed the skype interview. I passed the phone interview though.

@@outdoorsforachange It also makes more sense for me to just spend 60 days filming my for my own channel. It would be nice not to have to worry about logistics though. But I wouldn't have changed anything, and don't regret not being on the show.

@@TheWoodedBeardsman You did reach one million subs before someone else who WAS on the show. It worked in your favor, clearly.

Those apples are a horrible idea. Leave them for about a month then come back and check your supplies. Everything will have apple mush on it. Ask me how I know😂
