not a bad list, wow. Chaplin, Welles and Kubrick as well as Hitchcock are all my personal favorites and the rest of the placement is fairly insightful.

Kind of a Shame that most of the list is based on influence and mostly not the Directing Capabilities of the Director but I respect the list based on the Criteria. Good list

Whether Spielberg is anybody's "favorite" is inconsequential - but I think a scientifically sound criteria can prove Spielberg is the "greatest" director of all time: 1. Consistant Excellence 2. Prolonged Significants 3. Active Prolificness 4. Genre Versatility 5. Technical Innovation 6. Auter Aesthetic 7. Craft Integrity 8. Cultural Impact 9. Artistic Influence Name one other filmmaker who can check each of those boxes with nearly Spielberg's equivalent in any serious critical consensus approval.

4:genre versatility... I agree he has the widest range 1:consistant....disagree coz he made dozen of bad movie especially in 21st century
@Geronimo_Jehoshaphat
@Geronimo_Jehoshaphat 3 года назад
@@sameerahmed-gx8js Bad movies? A dozen? 21st Century? No. You're obviously thinking of someone else. Maybe Spike Lee. Spielberg made mostly great movies. None were bad. A.I. ? Munich ? Catch Me If You Can ? Minority Report ? War of the Worlds ? Tintin ? The Terminal ? ALL great. Instant Classics. Lincoln ? Bridge of Spies ? Very good. The Post ? Ready Player One ? War Horse ? The BFG ? Still better than most. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ? Okay, that one was half bad. But also half good.
@sameerahmed-gx8js
@sameerahmed-gx8js 3 года назад
@@Geronimo_Jehoshaphat catch me if you can and minority report are good.... Lincoln was good because of day-lewis performance otherwise movie is utterly boring and the rest of the movie you mention are just crap Honorable mention(1941, the color purple, A.I, bfg, hook)
@Geronimo_Jehoshaphat
@Geronimo_Jehoshaphat 3 года назад
@@sameerahmed-gx8js A.I. is a deep existential masterpiece, the fact that you don't know that makes you a Philistine who can't be trusted with a styrofoam cup. You have all my disrespect.
