I love the fifth wave. It was the best comedy of the year. It was awesome how the writers created a parody for young adult movies. Oh wait, it wasn't a parody. Oh. Well that's fine. At least they put some comedy in it. Oh wait, it wasn't a comedy... WELL THEN WHAT DID I JUST WATCH!

I'm starting to feel like the young adult novel genre is becoming oversaturated as hell. Seriously, it started with Twilight, and now we've got Hunger Games, the Maze Runner, the Fifth Wave, the Insurgent, the Giver, etc. These movies are starting to blend in together, especially since all of them involve teens with impossibly good skin and hair. In the words of Triumph, "Hurricane Isabelle couldn't mess up your hair."

I saw the trailer in theaters and I was like "Yeah this is gonna be shit and Jeremy is gonna rip this apart". I thought Chloe Grace Moretz was better than this.

I love it how Jeremy and Chris have basically the same opinions on movies with very different deliveries and points. Glad we have both of them.

If Hollywood wanna do a young adult movie, they totally should do a Teen Titan movie, just straight up action flick and no BS romance

The book: Fantastically written, great characters, solid plot, romance felt natural and wasn't forced for the most part. Movie: Shit. Enough said.

I read the book and its much more interesting even though it took me about a month and a half to read.

To be honest I've only read the first book just last year on November and finished it during December and I was anticipated to see the movie because I thought the book was so good it was amazing but I totally agree with you it was terrible I don't think I will ever see it again because it was super terrible I just think if they filmed it more like the book it would've been better but obviously they never stick to the books

I could have told you by one minute into the trailer that it was gonna be shitty. Tell me a movie and ill tell you if its good or not.

I have to say I enjoyed Independence Day. Sure, it's cliche, stupid, over the top, but DAMN is it fun to watch. Another favorite of mine is Battle: Los Angeles. I honestly thought it was a decent film, and somewhat surprised by how much the film seems to be reviled. And although I didn't like the romance either, I overall didn't hate the film. I do wonder at the quality of the book in comparison. Maybe it reads better than it shows? Anyway, sometimes I feel like people are too harsh on tropes. Using ideas that have been used before don't always mean the movie has to be labelled 'cliche, therefore it sucks', which happens way too often.

The 6th wave was when people started walking out the theatre.

The dialogue was pretty bad but the plot is entertaining so I don't think it's a waste of time but the book is quite good there were some hilarious scenes, you could see cassie and evan bonding and you knew the characters (I know that it's not fair to expect the movie to be as detailed as the the book but they could put a real dialogue instead of that creepy bathing scene) I would actually recommend the book (granted there are some YA cliches in it they are not that annoying)

The book is amazing, incredibly deep, the writing is so beautiful. The movie did not do it justice AT ALL. But please don't judge a book by its movie. Evan's shirtless scene in the water didn't happen in the book, the director added that in to attract teen girls (clearly the target audience) but honestly, as a teen girl, all these saucy, unnecessary scenes just made me cringe...

Well yeah, the movie did add some new scenes, but why not consider reading the book too? If you take a look at the book though, their may be a lot of the long dialogues but it might give a bit of choices to consider from watching the movie or reading the book, like which one is much more entertaining to take? Although it will still depend on the person, of what they may think about the series of the The 5th Wave.

they left out so many cute moments from the book ,which built the romance .Evan was supposed to be a cute creep ,like a teenage nerdy girl with a crush ,that's what made it good.

Usually we really tend to agree. Here I disagree entirely. I really enjoyed this film and plan to go back and watch it again this week while it's still playing. Not really sure why you disliked it so much to be honest. You say there was bad dialogue, I don't see it. You say there was a forced and bad romance, I saw it as a person using allegory for explaining why he's switching sides in a war, explained through the perspective of a teen girl... yes it was a bit predictable at times, but I'll take predictable fun over the average shite we get in cinemas. I wonder how we can agree so often yet disagree so much on this film.

I'm willing to bet the ONLY reason this movie was made was to try and ride the hype train that the Hunger Games was driving with the Insurgent series on board. These tween gurl power book series are all the same special snowflake, kiddy romance shit..

I'm here after skimming the novel. I whisked through the first 100 pages loving it, then the pov changes, and again, and the creepy romance starts, and I checked out. Skimming the rest was probably slightly more bearable than watching a film adaptation of it, and Jahns summed up exactly what I thought of the book. Amazing opening, great "The Road"-like involvement with survival and post-apocalypse setting, but then it went all Katniss-Peeta-OtherGuy or Stewart-vampire-werewolf on me. Damn it!

The Shit Wave?

I enjoyed the first half of the book immensely. It was tense, captivating and grim, and the world-building was so so real. I could _feel_ what the characters were feeling - hopeless, desperate, just trying to survive. Then it introduced that Evan idiot as a love interest... Bleh. I hurled the book across the room _twice_ because I was just sick of it. What was a wonderful and captivating premise was forced to become a young-adult tween girl pleaser. Completely destroyed what was established. And the reveal of what the aliens were... Honestly, quite lame. The author tried to make it original and thought-provoking, but it didn't work for me. Perhaps it was just the way it was written that made it underwhelming. I lost interest in the series by the end so I wasn't too interested in seeing the movie, but after the reception it got I doubt I ever will.

The setup was actually really good, I was hella into it but pretty much around the time she gets shot and saved by the dude it started going down hill rapidly. It's a shame, the setup really had me thinking it was gonna be dope and not some cheesy predictable teenybopper bullshit

So many great alien invasion movies, it's hard to pick just one. Does Predator count? Invasion of the Bodysnatchers is an obvious choice. Independence Day is also a no brainer. My favourite recent invasion movie definitely has to be Edge of Tomorrow - that film was so underrated and it was bloody fantastic. Other notable mentions: Mars Attacks, War of the Worlds (both versions), They Live, Attack the Block, Slither, Pacific Rim and The World's End. But the mother of all alien invasion movies for me is The Thing (John Carpenter version). I must have seen that movie over a thousand times and it never gets old for me.

It started off really awesome with the initially waves and survival scenes after but then gets rediculous with the predictability and future technology.
