Dude, I'm so glad OddBawz linked your channel for us, I really really like your commentary explaining how and why you do what you do. I'm always looking to learn new tricks and get better.
Hey, Jon. Question for you: Would you ever consider doing a series where your viewers send you their gameplay and you can maybe offer suggestions on where to get better? I know we can watch your videos for placement and map knowledge but maybe to help players be aware of bad habits and how to change them or something? In either case, been really enjoying your content. :)
That would be super helpful, I've started tanks relatively recently (about 5 days in game time) but I have no game sense whatsoever lol. No clue what I should be doing or the reasoning behind it.
I once got my sherman 76w out and came face to face with a tiger1, shot him in the weak spot, no pen. I thought to myself "ty gaijin, now i'm dead because of this bs!" he shot me and nothing happened. I shot him in the weak spot again and nothing happened, same for him. We did this 2 more times, then I thought "bro, I'm so lucky he's probably shooting some weird angle and missing, so I'm gonna shoot his barrel and track and side shot him" so I did that and it got my kill. Later when the game was almost over, I moused over my shell and I realized I had picked the 75 jumbo by mistake
This is a bit cringe, but im happy WT content creators are sharing and collaborating with each other. After what chat often looks like its really nice to se C.C. doing well. Wish you the best.
Totally. The Jumbo 75 needs you to target weak armour, angle armour well and anticipate threats. People have always been trying to gets its BR reduced because they don't know how to use it.
Hey Jon! I just wanted to thank you for the advice you gave me a few videos back. I've now reached BR 8.7 ( Object 435 ) on USSR. Still that blender - sounding tank is giving me some problems, because it isn't very similiar to the T-55 that i mained. Any thoughts on how to play it?
I got my first Nuke in the 76 jumbo yesterday and watching your gameplay helped me improve a bit (I've only been subbed for about a week now). Great content 🔥
This was probably the first tank I did good in when I started. It's forgiving and I agree with you it taught me swapping shells. It's still my favorite tank to escape the grind lol
The other important shell is the smoke shell. Very handy if you come across an IS-2 or Tiger II at distance - just fire that smoke at their face, or between you both, and then get out of there. This can also be handy if you've immobilized an enemy and your allies are attacking it already, hit it with a smoke shell so the enemy can't return fire, but your team mates will keep firing into the smoke.
The problem with the jumbo is that many tanks are impossible to kill frontally while you're still able to be killed with difficulty. So you need side shots to kill those targets, which means you need to flank, and if you're flanking then the enemy probably doesn't see you, so at that point you dont need the armor. M4A3 76w is faster, more mobile, with a gun that kills almost everything it sees frontally. The jumbo is really just a handicap in most situations.
@@n1coR But do the stats really matter, though? Like, I don’t look at my K/D or win/loss *ever*. All it would do is make me sweaty. Once I got to a certain point where my SL balance was high enough that I could just buy and repair whatever, I stopped caring about that, too. I play the game to play the game, if it’s not enjoyable it’s not a game, it’s just life.
I don’t generally “nope out” of battles, and instead will suffer no matter what I get, but his comment about heavies at full uptiers is spot on and since I only spawn the heavies when I need to for a challenge, I’ll probably start doing this. The recent 3 kills without dying in a heavy challenge was night and day different in the Jumbo between uptiers and downtiers. 6 kill 5 assist matches vs. 0 kill 0 assist matches.
That's not what he meant, he meant use another vehicle in your line up. Also that Sherman works just fine in full uptiers, it's the same gun as Jon is using in this video, and you can see he is killing things no problem at 5.7 with it.
When you are in a full uptier you will usually encounter tanks 0.3 and 0.7 up from you, tanks 1.0 br above from you will be rare since there will only be maximum 4 on the other team
the whole point of having lineups is to have vehicles that can deal with every situation, heavies always suffer in uptiers, some do better some do worse. But one thing is for sure, the jumbo shouldn't be lower than already is.
I can see how players with more crew slots available can maximize their lineups but someone like myself using the 5 free slots (2 reserved for CAS/CAP opportunities) I tend to stick around bringing 3 ground vehicles. I think the jumbo is fine where they're at, I'm more perturbed by the amount of uptiers lol.
I have always thought the same, the 75 Jumbo is my most played tank with 600 kills, it is a tank that if played correctly can be the most fun tank in the game
I love your videos bro I'm LVL 30. Now and free to play gamer and your tips really help me grind tanks ... It's long but it's making me better I have line ups 6.7 USSR and 6.7 Germany and 5.7 USA
I'm so happy you did a collab, because now i have another super skilled player i can watch and learn from, even though i have nearly 2000 hours and consider myself a pretty skilled player myself! You can never stop learning! Thank you!
One of the best tanks in WT in my opinion. Lets see what will happen next, because if they'll implement the APHE shell changes, this vehicle will stop being OP :)
I wanted to do a ghost shell joke in a way and ended with a ghost with a shell. I also wanted to make it cute because people like cute stuff. Then the worst thing imaginable happend, lost a friend to cancer so I had to put him in a crown because he was one of the most skilled players I know and he loved the game so I had to do it in his honor. The ghost has a small purple lace (the symbol of stomach cancer).
Can you play the IS2 early? It was the reason I kept playing war thunder when I was new and still one of my favorite vehicles now even after being moved from 5.7 to 6.3
@@BPA_JonWT i played something like 20 matches and got 6.3-6.7 mostly, with 2 games in 5.3-6.0, to the point i just got to embrace my true purpose in jumbo, APCR track and barrel torture hahaha.
I stopped using this thing once it moved to 5.7. Getting 6.7 in most of the games means you are better off with anything else. Maybe I will give it a try again!
This tank is pretty atrocious, or at least it feels that way playing German tanks. All that armour is useless with that huge machine gun port. Feel like I almost never get killed by them.
@@diffe the earlier Sherman’s can, and the jumbo isn’t invincible even if the German mains may think so, you can still kill it very easily by shooting machine gun port
