I woke up thinking about that aberlour a'bunadh. Whats you're go-to high proof pour right now? AND, thanks again to Bright Cellars for sponsoring the video and for the limited time offer. You can click here www.brightcellars.com/whiskeytribe to get 50% off your first 6 bottle box. I only drank red for years, but now this has been a convenient and fun exploration of white wine.

Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso. I think it's as exciting as the Aberlour.
@reikoshea

I know it was in your list, but Laphroaig is something else. It's definitely my high proof choice from Scotland. Aberlour is a FAR distant second for me, personally. Makers Cask Strength though is DANGEROUS. It's $40/bottle, so not THAT expensive, the flavors are great and, in my neighborhood, there's 4 stores that carry it within 5 miles. Old Forester 1920 would be my choice if I lived in an area where I could find it regularly. It's about a 80 mile drive to get a bottle.

For a relatively affordable cask strength scotch (though the Aberlour is pretty well priced), I'd throw in Glenfarclas 105 for consideration.

It's so cool to see them do the Octomore 10.4. Its the only one I've managed to get my hands on. That is a crazy Scotch. Once you get halfway through your pour it starts to smell like a barnyard. Like hay and wet wood and a bit of funk. It's the wildest thing.

Just picked up a Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength (batch 13, Jan 21) two days ago. Still a few bottles available locally to me. One of our local liquor stores (in a very small town) kindly keeps it in stock for me and my father. Don't think anyone else 'round these parts buys it. But we work through his case over the course of a year!

I’m not the biggest Laphroaig fan, but I do like the cask strength. The Springbank 12CS is a banger of a whisky, it’s one of the best Scotch I ever had, regardless of the age. But good luck finding it at a realistic price .. I hate that my all time favourite Single Malt has become practically unaffordable to me. Ardbeg Corryvrecken and Uigeadail are two of my favourites. Highland Park could be so much more .. and Aberlour A’Bunadh is a really good, affordable Cask Strength whisky.

In regards to 'opening up' a whisky using water, I have a technique I've been playing with that COMPLETELY changes the tasting experience - I've been experimenting with 'liquering'' my whisky by using a few drops of simple syrup instead of plain water. Try a taste test side by side with a straight dram and a flowered dram... The results are incredible. I'd love to know your thoughts, I really think I'm onto a whole new whisky tasting concept.

I got my hands on loch fyne, 217 bottle limited release cask strength last year. It was the best whisky I have ever tasted. At 63% the the perfect smoke would linger on back of your throat for hours. 2nd bottle was intended as present for father in law, who lives in trune opposite Islay. I kept the second bottle and gave him a laphroig instead. It did not occur to me until later, that an Englishman giving a west coast Scotsman a laphroig is like buying a supermarket wine for a Frenchman.
