This stunning old house originally sat about 30 miles away on the Main Street of the nearby town. Sometime in the 1980’s the house was deconstructed and moved to the field it currently sits in now slowly crumbling away. Sadly the house has been empty for around 20-30 years now and it’s unclear whether anyone moved back in after it was moved, as the newel post seems to have never been fully put on and sat on the porch for years. Strange and sad fate for this beautiful old house built in the early 20th century around 1900. Glad to document it one last time! With the large holes in the roof above the stairs it won’t be long sadly for this old house before the roof caves in. Thank you for watching and hope you enjoy this revisit!

You are so caring and respectful of these old places. This is a beautiful house. Why would they go thru the expense of moving it just to let it rot? Makes no sense to me. Thank you Kappy.

It is such a pity that something that was so well built to survive this long even after being removed, will cease to exist in time… it’s homes like this that make me wish I was skilled at renovation and revival! I guarantee homes built today will never live half as long as these old homes.

That was a Jim Dandy new cinder block basement they built for it. Why would someone go through the expense of moving this structure, fitting it onto its nice new basement, reconstruct the interior brick fireplaces, then walk away to leave it to rot like a broken dream? But broken dreams is the kind of world we live in today. It's a sad, sad world as we watch the seasons turn all around us.

💔It seems odd that someone would go to all the trouble to move it just to leave it? Sad, really. It looks like it was a beauty. Thank you, Kappy. I appreciate that you look right through the “rot” and see all the beautiful details.👍

The style of the door and trim is earlier than 1900. Wish we could have seen the staircase. The locks are much earlier as well. My guess would be in the 1880's. Sometimes when realtors are lazy they automatically fill the date of construction of old homes as 1900 instead of doing the research.

If it was moved in the 80s there were several rough economic times then. They spent money on the new foundation and on moving it. Then maybe the funds ran out and they held on thinking more money would be available later or the person died before the project was completed. No one else wanted to pursue the dream or it got tied up in legal problems. Sad because someone started to fix things up. Thank you for the tour. Unfortunately looks like the end for this beautiful place

They probably became discouraged when people started stealing the stairway and probably other stuff Sitting there 25 or more years. There just wasn’t enough interest anymore. Someone might have died

I kind of figured someone died. Looking at all the old craftsmanship makes me want to cry for the sheer waste! Places like this are a kind of lesson. So sad!

This home is beautiful. With it having been moved to this location in the 80's or 90's, the foundation is much newer and appears to be in good condition. With a good foundation, this house could still be saved...but it needs to be soon. Wish I had the funds.. I would love to tackle a restoration like this. Thank you for doing this video.

It must’ve cost a fortune to have that huge house moved. And to have it sit and rot like that 😮. Love the two fireplaces in the one room, that’s a first for me. Thank you Kappy, I enjoyed the tour 👍

I’m surprised it has a basement if it was moved to that field.

So sad this place is falling into itself, it was really attractive at one time. The inside is just...tired and falling apart. I liked the plain, simple fireplaces. They suited the house. Thanks, Kappy

We live near Petersburg which has tons of these old houses. We always say if we could just move one out to the country. Not easily accomplished. Thanks for the story details in the comments. Nice to know someone tried.

Our driveway to our old brick house is almost a 1/2 mile long. Never used to be. From what I've been told, when they put in the main gravel road, they made the driveway longer. While walking the fields and pulling weeds, I found a big green marble. Folks tell me it probably fell off a wagon that kids were riding back in the day. How cool is that? :)

What a stately old home on the land. Beautiful, soft colors in the rooms and simple, elegant fireplaces. It's surprising how deteriorated the roof and thus some of the rooms and floors are. A shame.

Hey Kappy! I thought this one looked familiar...can't fool a photographic memory! It's still a pretty old house, and I still love the front porch treatment, as it's so delicate and frames the front door so well. Too bad that modern architects aren't looking to the past for inspiration.
