The Absolutely Terrible Inbetweeners Reunion | Fwends Reunited 

The Reunion show would’ve been better if it had Greg Davies (actor of Mr. Gilbert) as the host. With him on the show, he and the lads could’ve had a great time, reminiscing on their moments on the sets, make references to the scenes from The Inbetweeners and even have more focus of the questions relating to the show.

In fairness as James did say Jimmy Carr was hired to do what he does and it was the people who thought he was suitable in that sense that were the real problem

I was never expecting a brand new Inbetweeners episode, but I would have been happy if the special was just them and other cast members talking about their time making the show, similar to the Harry Potter reunion or Friday Night Dinner 10-year anniversary thing. What made it so bad was Jimmy Carr being cringey and unfunny, making them do a banal quiz with creepy looking fans of the show and like you said, treating them as though they actually were their characters. You could even see in Blake’s and James’ faces that they weren’t enjoying it.

The car segment was the best part easily. The reunion should’ve been just that, a lads road trip visiting set locations and mild reenactment (go to Thorpe Park for the fun of it) with appearances from other cast members on route. And yes, Greg Davies should’ve hosted.

Jimmy Carr turns everything into a quizshow

The way the reunion could've and should've gone was how the Harry Potter reunion went, it was fun just seeing the trio in 1 room having a laugh over the films, even had a lot of the cast, instead of, The Jimmy Carr Show, oh aye, we have these 4 people who were in a show together 😂😂😂

Getting Jimmy Carr to host was crazy. Couldve asked anyone off the street and they'd have been as good.

All I remember thinking from watching a clip of it on this website was "This is just an episode of 8 Out of 10 Cats with the four boys as extra guests".

The entire Reunion show should of just been them chatting driving around in a car.

I remember being hyped for this reunion and then saw clips online of it and it looked like a dumpster fire. It's so bad, I kind of forgot it even happened.

the issue with this special is that works for any show. so it doesn't feel like an inbetweeners special it's just a special about the Inbetweeners

part of the problem with this is that a lot of fans didn’t realise it was going to be a retrospective show, they were expecting a new episode of the show they loved then got angry when it wasn’t what they expected

Biggest mistake was hiring Jimmy Carr. it was not Jimmy's fault he ruined the reunion, the reunion was ruined by whoever picked him to host it.

They should do a podcast reunion

Spot on!!!!! The 4 lads on their own having a laugh about their experience; with sub interviews with the other cast members would have been great. A recent example - currently on Netflix with Simon Bird is "FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER - 10 years and a lovely bit of squirrel." A prime example of this type of concept done well. Still, it doesn't taint just how great the Uk inbetweeners was. Absolutely legendary writing and casting

James Buckley even said in the interview that he loves Jimmy Carr and doesnt blame him for this at all. disappointed to see the comments hating on him

The section of them chatting in the car left me very hopeful. I got so bored from the rest I switched off very quickly. So disappointed

I remember being excited about this when it was advertised, then started watching it, sighed a breath of disappointment when i saw Jimmy Carr was presenting it, watched 5 minutes and turned it off. Ridiculous waste of everyone's time.

The problem, as you say, is that the inbetweeners was funny because it had writers, but the 4 lads are just actors. Like all of us they're capable of sharing humorous stories and making the occasional clever pun or quip, and as actors they're probably a bit better when it comes to timing and delivery too, but, just like all of us, they've not got much of a on-stage stand-up/panel show comedy pedigree. In a relaxed environment, with no live studio audience, no script, no host, they could simply unwind and reminisce as we all do with friends - and they would all laugh hysterically over memories we as outsiders can find funny, but not nearly as funny as those who lived it. Instead they were forced onto a stage and made to perform, like trained monkeys in a sense. A reunion like this is only ever going to be a case of 'rehashing' old content combined with a behind the scenes look in the guise of memories of making the show. Instead they tried to make some sort of awards show/gameshow + formal panel show interview format.

This was a double shit show! The producers didn’t allow the reunion to just flow. They introduced stupid things like the panel quiz and the suitcase prank. And then Jimmy Carr! A total and utter unfunny, false laughing, tax dodging narcissist who makes everything he is on about him! One of the worst broadcast experiences in history and totally unfair to the 4 lads and the other cast who all looked stunned. If Jimmy Carr never appeared anywhere again, most wouldn’t miss him!

I think I get why it went so wrong. Just been watching the full version of the JB pod clip showed here. He talks about how at the time a 4 of them were busy working. Their role in it all was to just turn up. I think the producers of the show felt that they had to have something for them to slot in to on the night. So they came up with all those dumb ideas they had. Maybe it was a bit, "shit, we cant work with them to formulate the show because they aren't available, so lets make something they can simply participate in". Buckley is right in that really it would have been just fine if they had the writers in too, and just had them all talking about the fun times making it, and yes with Greg hosting. But I dont think the producers could possibly know that could sustain the whole thing.

I still hope there will be a third movie, I think there's still more to tell in the story of the guys and what happens in the struggling life of a young adult nowadays with getting jobs, owning a property and struggling to maintain a marriage.

Buckley should just get all the lads on his pod and do a reunion themselves.. it would be exactly what the fans want and a massive middle finger to all the production companies and producers that want to stick their oar in

I mean, it’s not like it hasn’t been proven that the format of getting the cast together in a room and just talking about the thing works fine as a reunion show. The Fresh Prince, Friends and Harry Potter have all done it already.

Getting the guys in the same room with some other prominent cast and crew members and talking about the show, it origins and inspiration should have been what the reunion is

They could literally do a reunion themselves podcast format, feel like some of them don't really like going back to that place and would rather just move on. Tends to happen a lot with young actors

Never saw it as I heard it was terrible, but even just from the clips I've seen I agree that Carr was the wrong choice. Not his fault. It's the producers. They booked him knowing his style. Greg Davis would certainly have been a better choice.

The thing about Jimmy Carr is , he always has to be the centre of attention. He presents (or did present, not sure if it's still going actually) a show called My Face or Yours with Katherine Ryan. All he does ALL the way through the show is belittles and takes the piss out of the contestants that are on it, and goes out of his way to drive a rift between the couples. I would love it if the tables were turned on him.

I think they went down the classic big tv show event. when if they ran it like the harry potter reunion, just the lads chatting with side characters coming in and chatting, it would have been really interesting and funny.

To be fair, if you want to see the four of them talking about the show, the extras on the DVDs have plenty of that. This reunion show looks like it sucked though, so I'm glad I missed it!

I remembered when this was being advertised and was thinking this was going to be one-off episode, but was disappointed when this was what we got, however I still watched it and it was decent even though there was some stuff that did make me cringe. It was watchable to an extent. But watching this video, I definitely agree that Jimmy Carr was the wrong person to host this, as many people have said, Greg Davis should’ve hosted it and I feel it would’ve got alot of a better response. I’m not hating on Jimmy Carr for hosting it, it’s not his fault, it’s just his humour didn’t mix with the reunion. With the shit show of the Friends reunion cast too with James Corden being there I'm convinced they do this deliberately to stop people asking for new episodes or films of these popular shows

I didn't manage to watch 5 minutes of that crap, because it had Carr as host and I don't find him funny one bit. I also thought the reunion (when I heard it announced) was an actual long episode of them meeting up again after the movies and seeing where they are in life, it was totally the opposite, so nah. I won't be watching another reunion regardless, unless it is an actual episode type feature.
