Star Wars The Acolyte Episode 5 is the best episode of the series in a show full of inconsistencies, retcons, and balls being dropped. Disappoint week after week and finally we get some impressive combat scenes which are immediately deflated by awful acting by our acting lead. This is awful television and should have been a movie.

It's true the twins suck the life out of each episode and every scene they are in. I would trade them both for having Jecki or Yord back and I was glad when those two died. Plot twist the Wookie died from freak light saber hair cutting accident. If only Mae had known she could have taken credit for killing him without a weapon. Not that Sol bothered to check on him and doesn't even know he is dead.

My thinking for why Jecki could hold her own is that her natural lightsaber fighting style is dual wielding, rather than the solo saber style she started the fight with. Hence why she seemed better after using Kelnaca's saber in addition to her own

Wish I had a lightsaber. Imagine how terrified someone would be seeing my short, big footed, goofy ass with a beam of death. Ain't no wizard taking me on an adventure without a fight.

Leslye said in an interview that this was based on a TTRPG campaign... so it seems likely they did their research to find out what Cortosis was... by reading the DM guide for whatever TTRPG it was. Thing is.... Jedi should know Cortosis exists.... it's not a mystery metal. that DOEs kinda explain why Jeckie hits the mask to break it... she knows that physical brute force can crack cortosis... but why is she...a Padawan... the ONLY one to think of this???

11:45 The Phantom Menace at least established that Obi-Wan was a capable Padawan and ready to be tested as a jedi knight and we actually see him do things even before his duel with Maul. Compare that to Jecki: we've seen her for approximately 10 miuntes in total, where she was snarky to Yord, flirty with Osha for a little bit (I did not enjoy those moments), then she trains with a stick for 10 seconds, which implies that she is not ready for lightsaber combat, let alone against a Sith! And after all that we're just supposed to accept that she can survive more than 5 seconds against Qimir, who at this point killed at least 5 trained jedi knights? That's just bad writing, sadly...

Good fight scenes ain’t enough for to stick around anymore sadly. If I wanted that I’ll go watch a Scott Adkins movie. It just doesn’t feel the same like when I was a kid when I first got into Star Wars. Am tappin out coach. Solid Review. But also what up with lightsabers turning off after the user dies I always wondered lol
