I feel your pain. As a ranch owner in far far Northern California, this story is all too similar to our areas fires we deal with on an annual basis. The forest service is about as useless as the FBI, DHS,CIA and every other government agency.

God Bless the volunteer firefighters, and praise the Lord your brother Eddie and his family are ok !!!🙏 Jason, I hope your first phone call was to Ronny Jackson asking him to arrange a one on one meeting with Forest Service in regards to being compensated for the damage they did to your property ! My Dad was a farmer and we had a similar situation, (not near as bad as yours ) it involved a major television network , building a gigantic tower on land connected to our farm...long story short they destroyed our roads that made it impossible for our machinery to travel on safely , considering huge ruts it caused on our road with them coming and going with 18 wheelers, bulldozer etc... We had our day in court with them and WON...BIG shots from network said we didn't stand a chance on winning ! They found out real quick don't mess with a Texas farmers family and his livelihood !!! 🚜 My family has been farming and ranching for six generations in Texas and we truly have been blessed in so many ways ! 🇨🇱 Fight for what you believe in and never give up ! Bless you and your beautiful family on this Palm Sunday and always !🕊🙏

We just came in with our dozer a couple months later and leveled the fire guards out. Cant even tell where they were 5 years later. County maintainers do the same thing, but better than all our grass burning up. To understand containment lines you have to understand the forest service. Think of it in terms of a hotshot crew. "Dug Line" all the way around the fire. Up here they do it with dozers instead of hand tools. I'm not standing up for the TFS, I hate how they light back burns for no reason. I've actually followed the forest service in a fire truck putting out their backburn lol. Dozers coming 2 days after fire is out is B.S. but that is how they are trained.

Man that is hard to imagine all the damage. To see the Medota section of Red Deer Creek look this burn is crazy. I trapped the property for beavers back in early 2000 for Eddie and Salem. This area was full of so many mature cottonwoods. That barn that burned down was our temporary skinning shed. Wow that was shocking images to see. Glad that Eddies house was spared.

A few years back, they came onto my property in Pandale. My formerly smooth roads looked like a porpoise swimming. I stopped one boss and told him whoever did this needs to go back to bulldozer school. In fairness, they may have been tired and were trying to go fast as possible to save more. Still I had to use my D7 back and smooth up.

You can go anywhere in north central Texas and see this kind of fire damage. I am a butcher and I have been for 27 years and I know guys in Eastland county that literally lost EVERYTHING, HOMES, BARN, stacks of hey and had cattle run into the corners of fence lines to escape the fire only to pile up and get burnt up. Guys with high fence ranches were cutting the fences just to give the exotics half a chance. We lost a deputy sheriff here in Eastland county as well. She was helping old folks evacuate and ran off the road in the smoke and the fire caught her. I don't have to drive 10 miles see damage as bad as or worse than that

A range fire burns invasive brush and a variety of invasive plants from the landscape for a while at lest. The resident range grasses can now make a comeback. I suspect if they’d done some controlled burns before now, it wouldn’t have been as bad. Controlled burns have helped ranchers all over Texas.

Is there a legal way you can get reimbursed from the Texas forestry department for tearing up your land with the dozers. I know forestry depts use dozers to cut a fire line, but it doesn't make sense to blade a road through the field 3 days after the fire is out.
@Jack-yl7cc
@Jack-yl7cc 2 года назад
Other than writing a strongly worded letter, you have no recourse when the Texas Forestry Department royal screws something up. Unless you have pockets deep enough to be able to afford decades long legal battles? They will even bull doze a stand of hardwood trees without any regard to the financial impact that it will cause, which is considerable because you can't insure standing trees.

What your self and no one else seems to understand or know is that the TFS doesn’t just show up, the chief of what ever volunteer fire dept is in charge called them to come help. Once the TFS gets on scene everything they do is at the command of that fire chief, be it containment lines or back burning. The TFS does not just go off and start working with out clearance from who ever is in charge. It would appear as though your anger is slightly miss placed, you might want to find out who was in charge of the fire, they would be the one who told the dozer crew to make the containment line and as far as the line that was made that dozer crew was doing what they were trained to do.
