It is actually a position a bit to the right, if you compare what the working class in the EU and other nations fought hard for and won. They didn't do it by voting: they did it by standing and marching together and not giving in.
We Need To Dismantle The Electoral College & Enact Rank Choice Voting. Otherwise There Is No Way Those Such As Bernie & Marianne Would Actually Stand a Chance. We Need To Summon Up The Same Sense Of Urgency & The Same Refusal To Simply Lie Down & Accept Less Than As Those In The Suffragette Movement, Civil Rights Movement, Stonewall, Etc. Or Nothing Is Ever Going To Change & Will Only Progressively Decline/Get Worse.
I love Bernie but as president I don't think he could have gotten the infrastructure act, the CHIPS act or the only gun reform we've had in decades, though he did play a huge part in getting it done.
@@notmeus1968 In what universe would Bernie struggle to pass legislation that Biden did, seeing as Bernie’s reception on FOX NEWS was still grudgingly high enough to land a standing applause during their town hall? When has Biden demonstrated that level of bipartisan support on literally anything??
@corpsefoot758 Bernie has shown no sign he could get republicunts to vote for anything, but Biden has that why Biden bills are so watered down. I doubt Bernie could even get 2/3 of democrats to vote for anything he put up because he doesn't put out anything watered down, which is ideologically great but would make him a failure as president. Just because fox news town hall cheered for him doesn't mean any right-wing politicians would work with him. It was the Justice Democrats that caved to get Biden’s accomplishments not the corporate left and that's why it got some republicunt support too. The infrastructure bill and CHIPS act are both flawed but still great accomplishments then there's half a dozen other great accomplishments Biden did that any one of which would be any other presidents only accomplishment. Bernie would be a far better president if he had a much larger progressive caucus and far greater majority in both houses but that's not the case were dealing with
This is an improvement over the live broadcast of the speech itself. Too bad about the audio problems at the start of the speech. Bernie, we love you. You are correct of course. Thank you for all you do!
I agree wholeheartedly. Bernie is the best & yes he should be POTUS. A true public servant who genuinely cares. I'm secular but please let me say God bless Bernie & what he's always stood for justice & real equity for all.
@@John-sg5un I thought when Biden dropped out that perhaps Bernie would make an effort but, alas, I was disappointed. I will support Kamala, but my heart is with Bernie.
One thing many don't talk about is the American fascist party "America First" and how close they came to staging a coup. You had Henry Ford being an ardent anti-semite and Ayn Rand publishing widely popular fascist propaganda. Many don't realize just how close the United States came to fascism and being Germany's ally.
Bernie is the only time proven honest, human over big corporation, politician. We needed to be guided by this brilliant light all along. Look what happened when the greedy, corporate funded were propped up instead. Imagine where we would be instead if we had been guided by this beautiful man's compassion and common sense community governing. Love you Bernie. ❤❤❤❤❤ If only all democrats had cared to actually move our nation left and back for the people of the people.
calling it out like the boss man. i love you Mr.Bernard Sanders ..thank you from the bottom of my soul.xoxxo. Stop in for a nice meal at my home any time your around oswego NY . YOU HAVE MANY FANS HERE THAT ADORE THE HELL OUT OF YOU. God bless you and your beautiful family
My dad was an FDR Democrat, a Union Pipefitter, he would have NEVER, ever been a Republican. He would have rejected this mess right off. Being a fifth generation Democrat myself, I follow what you are saying. People just don't get it. If I wasn't a handicapped senior, on a fixed income, I would donate to your campaign. We need more like you.
One thing I think we should do this time is to create public alternatives to essential goods such as cars and appliences. There should be public factories for making cars and fridges alongside the private ones. That way it's much more difficult for the billionares to come together and use their power. Electric cars have so much junk we don't need. I would like to see a 21th century Volkswagen with all the junk taken out kind of like the European cars of the 1950's.
Once again Bernie speaks the truth. We need to hear this loud and clear. Dems must re-invent themselves and turn away from the corporate wing of this party and embrace their true base, the working men and women of this country. Those that are struggling to survive, to say nothing of being unable to rise to a better quality of life.
But also unlike the republicans that started with Reagan Bernie appeals to courage rather than fear. All Republicans from Reagan, to Bush to Trump appealed to fear. Fear from blacks, fear from terrorism and fear from "cancel-culture".
Don't forget to thank the Democratic party for that. The same party that is currently destroying both US society and the country of Ukraine. And poor old Bernie endorses both.
except he never intended on actually running lol. as displayed by his hasty embrace of people who said the same things about leftists as european loyalist republicans would say. dudes as useful as a wet roll of toilet paper
He WAS the nominee in 2016 and 2020, if the primaries were real and votes determined the outcome. It's sad that people still think they can "vote" in the Dem primary, when the DNC already told everyone, in the open in court, that the primaries are not "real", but a game for the voters so they can pretend they're participating. The nominees are set years ahead of time by the parties owner donors.
Bernie! You are more qualified to be president than Joe Biden. You speak better than Biden and you are more mobile than Biden so get that campaign going and run for president. We need you.
Personally while I like Bernie more I do think Warren would be a better president. Cause while wellfare matters if we don't enact structural changes to campaigns and corporate regulations it can be undone by a single bad year for democrats.
@@MrMarinus18 At 85, I still hope we might have our first woman President before I leave this earth...just not now. As an Illinois native, I'd been neutral about Warren for years, nor knowing much about her. In contrast, I'd admired Bernie since I first learned of him, and all positive changes he'd stood for starting in 1963. That day, I opened my Chicago newspaper to see the now famous photo of a policeman "helping " a slight young man w/ lots of curly hair, to the ground for marching against segregation. The NAACP got him out of jail the next day. He then helped organize a bus to D.C. at the end of the month for MLK's now famous March for Jobs and Freedom and historic "I Have a Dream: speech. To me, he's not stopped since...not wavered in working for the diverse issues most important to me. Those include civil, economic, environmental, gender, racial and social justice...and peace. I'd appreciated Waren's positive contributions after I learned of them over the years, especially re the different challenges women had faced...forever. I'd even decided once that she might be a great VP with him! Then came the time when the two walked to meet at the center of a stage after some debate. Elizabeth Warren declined to shake Bernie Sanders' offered hand. I was beyond shocked and said to myself, "That is just not good decision-making for someone who wants to be President!" #NotMeUs.
How is this man not the president? In an era of trump, then biden - both candidates that seemed to have lost their respective coherence by age, as compared to Bernie. I will never understand.
If workers looked at which bills Republicans vote for and against, they wouldn’t be long dropping the Republican Party. Just amazes me how workers, who are growing poorer, keep voting for the party that serves corporate America , and treats the average voter like dirt.
Thanks for updating the amount for the federal minimum wage from $ 15 to $ 17 you fight for! 🙏🙏 Honestly, it should be even more by now, but it's nice you thought about updating that. 👍👏🔥🔥 Thank you, Bernie.
You have confused the federal minimum wage (that Republicans have blocked since 2009) with an Executive Order signed by Joe Biden when paying workers under a federal contract. More on that below. Probably the most important part of just $14,500/year, aka $7.25/hour, is that full-time workers at that wage will almost always qualify for Food Stamps. Think about that. What Bernie DID do was name his Federal Minimum Wage increase Bill the "Stop Bezos Act". It was still blocked by Republicans but before they did, Bezos avoided publicity, called a meeting with wage workers and more than doubled their hourly wage from the minimum of $7.25/Hour to $15/Hour (which also _"happened to be"_ Bernie's target number). Because Republicans blocked Bernie however, Amazon is free to layoff workers making $15 and hire new workers at a lower wage again. That and the food stamps that we but not Bezos are Taxed for is why we need a minimum wage increase and why eliminating "gubment" would mean that amazon and all the other big dogs would do as they please. As promised : _"14026, which raised the minimum wage paid by government contractors to workers performing work “on or in connection with” covered federal contracts. As of January 1, 2023, workers covered by E.O. 14026 must be paid a minimum wage of $16.20 per hour to be compliant with the executive order."_ - reported Apr 20, 2023
Minimum wage is still $7.25 in Kentucky, Indiana, Kansas, South Carolina, North Carolina, Wyoming, Texas, Mississippi ,Utah, Tennessee, West Virginia, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin & I'm sure I missed some. He's fighting to change that, but the federal minimum hasn't been updated.
Some of us, on Social Security, have very little money to donate. This tends to have regrets. Would live to be more focused on helping work. Already do much volunteering by sharing on social media.
Same, but when that’s all you can do, you can see how valuable it really is.!. Changing the minds and hearts of the people is how you are going to get through to them. By making sense. You have a lot of sense that make’s cents that creates change… and that’s fantastic that you were able to donate your time to the cause… because time IS money 💰 and you have donated a lot of it! Be Proud of yourself for making a difference and being the change $ that you wanted to see! I am Proud of you 👍🏻👏🏻!!
@@Ghost-Mama thank you for understanding. You are correct about talking to people in a way that helps them understand. Having hate for those who hate does not help. As Bernie has said, "find the common ground". This helps people see we are all on the same side.
@@cynthiachristiansen8803 very much so, and that’s a fantastic point because I think it’s very important to make a human connection with others so that they can feel our humanity as well and we can teach them to express their feelings and emotions in healthy ways that brings beneficial results to everyone. Bernie Sanders has never been anything but sincere and fully invested in being a United States Senator who happens to be from Vermont. Nothing short of worldly treasure among humans.
I am not built for manufacturing and labouring jobs. My body is not capable of doing that anymore. My doctors have told me that if I do any other job, I have to do something where I’m working at the bank or working from home or something else like that because I cannot lift boxes or anything. Heavy anymore
I really enjoy listening to Bernie. It gives me "hope." (I don't comment under his videos too often because they seem to have "annoying" "censors." But here's a comment for the "algorithm.")
My problem with Sanders is that he is a grifter. Every election goes the same way. Bernie loop: 1. Tell people you represent a revolution against the establishment. 2. Collect donations. 3. Surrender. 4. Give the money you collected to the establishment. 5. Tell your supporters to vote for the establishment. I don't know why anyone would fall for this a third time.
I was all in for supporting Bernie! He did not take ACTION when opportunities arose, like forcing a vote for Medicare For All. There are few times when those opportunities come up. When electeds do not act, we see and remember!!! Actions speak WAY louder than words! Bernie speaks well, but action is more important. If he TAKES ACTION in the future, I may come back to calling myself a Bernie Supporter. He has a choice, the party or the people!!!
Unfortunately that will give your vote to Trump. You have to win the fights you can to make changes. This has to be planned out and will take time and long term strategy. That's how repubs did it.
@blessingliberty-lr3nt not accurate, sorry. If trump wins,it's because people are playing strategy games instead of voting for the person who will ACTUALLY do things to help EVERYONE and get things done. That threat is old and manipulative.
If only we could have more politicians that actually cared about the people like this, instead of trying to line their pockets and spreading corporate decite.
The issues he is talking about here is exactly why he should primary Joe Biden. Yes, I know both of them are too old to be president, but with Bernie I honestly don't care that he is in his 80's. As long as his health remains good, I think he should run for president in 2024.
