The Alternate Higurashi Ending You NEED To Read | PS2 Miotsukushi-Hen 

That was one of my main gripes with Matsuribayashi, Rika loosing her memories kind of felt like a cop out given how Minagoroshi set up their final confrontation. How the events of the chapter were handled were very fitting thematically, plus it was nice to see every main character have some moment in the spot light. Mion's role was an especially fantastic send-off for her character!

I would recommend Miotsukushi PS2 version first. Keep in mind if you go on to read Miotsukushi Omote it's best to read the console arcs Sometsushi, Kageboushi, Tokihogushi, and Miotsukushi Ura, before as characters from these arcs will be included and serves as their epilogue.

@@NeNeiSan Thank you! So I will read the PS2 version first, and do I need to read anything prior to the ps2 version? Besides episodes 1-8 of the main story? I will be using the thing on 07th mod which modifies episode 4, in order to play all of these. And I was wondering if this is the recommended way to read the ps2 version. And will this in particular mod cut anything essential from the story? Also, when I am doing the console arcs for omote, when should I read “Hakisarashi” and “Epilogue.” Since I see it on my screen for the modded console arcs. And also, I heard there was a “secret ending” in higurashi, where Bern supposedly meets Takano, if you know about this, can you let me know where I can read it? There were instructions that said you needed to read some of the fragments in a certain order and although I tried to do so, it didn’t work. (I tried this on episode 8 btw). I’m sorry for the amount of questions btw lol, I don’t really have a lot of people to ask.

Nope, Chapters 1-8 is all you need! Yes, the 07th mod is the best way. It's not major since you already read it in during Matsuribayashi, but the Takano backstory and connecting fragments portions were included in the original PS2 chapter are cut so you don't have to go through those portions again. Also make sure to do the "connecting fragments" before Miotsukushi Ura. That is very important. Hajisarashi is more of a fanservice chapter you can read whenever. I don't exactly what the epilogue is, whenever I clicked on it, it back me back to the menu. There is also Yoigoshi which I recommend, taking place 10-20 years after one of the original higurashi chapters. You can do this after all of the Miotsukushi stuff! If you google image search 'Higurashi Console Arcs' there is an infographic that will give you more concise and easy to follow information! When going for the secret ending, if you misclick once you will have to restart. It's a bit of a pain but there is a short no commentary playthrough by LAMBDADELTO titled 'MATSURIBAYASHI ONE MORE FINAL SHE DESERVES TO BE SAVED TOO' to save you some time!
