The Amazing Power of Hitting With The Right Arm in the Golf Swing

This video talks about the difference between "leading with the left hand in the golf swing" and "hitting hard with the right hand in the golf swing". You will learn where your REAL POWER comes from - hint: you probably guessed by the title that your power comes from your right hand (the dominant trail arm hand). Golfers have been taught to pull with the left hand and arm in the golf swing for a long time and it has resulted in golfers who lack consistency and power. Imagine, leading or pulling with your left hand when hitting a hammer into a nail! Do you use your weaker arm to do that? I bet you don't!
Get your hammers out and prepare for an episode that will change your golf swing and golf game forever. Tired of low distance and poor contact - get your hammer out for this! Tom will show you how a SIMPLE HAMMER can teach you EVERYTHING you need to feel in the golf swing.

I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.
My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.
My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

Hi tom been golfing for years. Turned to stack and tilt about 2 years ago due to ball striking getting worse with more lessons. Guess what immediate improvement with the S&T system and hcap down to 7. However finding a dedicated teacher in Ireland (1) to continue my improvements I resorted to online! Have to say finding you a week ago has been a revelation! You explain and demonstrate the system so much better than I have seen. Keep up the great work.

I started playing when I was 7 yrs old, by the time I was 16 I was a very successful golfer, I shot under par regularly from the back tees. I remember showing off and hitting balls well over 200 yards with just my right arm, I could fly it close to 300 in the air with my old persimmon Power Bilt clubs 2 handed. As I grew older ( I’m over 70 now) and became successful in business i began taking lesson from well known teachers ( JIM Flick etc) to try and recapture the swing I had when I was young . I never got it back, I barely hit the ball 210 yards now. I watched your video and it brought back old memories long forgotten, I can’t wait to get to the course and get back to my old swing thoughts. I’ll keep in touch, thanks for reminding me how I used to swing a club.

I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you, John; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play!! As a former baseball player myself, I fully understand. There are certainly some similarities between baseball and golf, but also some considerable differences that can easily send us down rabbit holes which only lead to inconsistency and frustration! By the way, you may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. If you've not already joined, have you considered enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level? That's where - in addition to detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying/resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise, plus advanced level instruction, and much more. This is a great feel! I'm not sure the dominant arm matters as much as the body slowing to "send" it. The momentum starts going forward from the body slowing down so you can send it with either arm dominating. I agree that the left arm going toward the target is throwing all the speed away. The left arm bracing and slowing down is another story.

So I spent some time bringing the sledge back in the same plane as you showed on the last video; upper body Turing as one with the arms tucked tight. Now I need to work on getting the hip out of the way on the swing. Question... does the body and arms move together on the swing?

I ALWAYS hated the idea of taking your dominant hand out of the swing. But I rationalized it by thinking maybe its another one of those golf opposite things - like hit down to make the ball go up, or take the tension out of your arms to allow the club to swing faster. Now I’m seeing that golf has been taught wrong for the last 20 years because you can’t think about all these positions I’m supposed to hit in a 1.5 second swing. I don’t trust any instructor any more but I do like your videos.

Nice job!! This is precisely why I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. For example, the sequential lessons and drills of my online school provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Would you like to learn some key aspects of the swing I teach in a more structured manner? So close to 100k! Won't be long. Unfortunately, I was dog bitten on my left wrist yesterday. At least it's the lead arm right. Lol. He was a big ol brown lab and it got all down in the meat. Nerves hanging out and stuff. Had to go to the hospital and everything. Not good. Messed up something down in there. Really depressing. It's going to be a long road to recovery. Screwed up, I know. Never had anything like this happen to me. I'll keep watching your videos and practicing with my good/right arm. NOTHING, and I mean nothing, will keep me from coming back from this and playing golf! Thanks for everything Tom. We luv ya man.

Well, Ryan, if you are right-handed then you have pretty much controlled most things in your life with your right arm. Makes sense that it can also apply to golf, right?! As for taking the club back, that has to be accomplished in whatever way works best for you. This is why I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. I feel like my arms sort of fall down, then near the bottom my right arm takes over through the hitting zone. But I feel like it's sort of adding zip to the club, rather than hitting. Adding centrifugal force maybe? That's the only way I can explain it, but this is when I hit the ball and it just explodes of the clubface and stays up forever.

At the risk of sounding a bit corny...."Dude, you nailed it". You've been all around the edges with your other videos. This one hits the proverbial nail on the head. Ben Hogan once said he wished he had three right arms. Your subscribers now know what he meant. Unfortunately, golf being the strange game it is, having a perfect swing doesn't mean you will hit perfect shots. It doesn't mean you will manage your golf ball intelligently around the course. And, it certainly doesn't mean you're going to be a great putter. But, your chances of hitting perfect shots do increase if you have a sound golf swing. This video should help a lot of people with THAT!!

I don’t know what to tell you man. Pulling with my left has the effect of pulling my whole body through the ball on line. The thought of throwing with my right lead to hooks and no advantage in distance. Some of the best strikers in history - Jones, Snead, Trevino - advocated it for a reason. To each their own of course.
