I'm ashamed to say I never figured it out myself and I thought the intended way was just to tank though to the other side, at least I finished the story
Your thumbnail perfectly does the job of 1) Looking appealing 2) Not spoiling the final boss 3) For those who know the story still having something to look at. Great job
DUDE struggling on the flooder puzzle for literally an hour was the funniest thing to watch but also my brain cells were literally dying at the same time.
yeah, stunning flooders is arguably the most well hidden mechanic in the game prior to the required instance in the final gauntlet. It is mentioned once in the pacman inspired level, but only if you get cornered by flooders with the single weapon kit that has lil buddy as the sub. On the flip side, it is not the worst puzzle to exist, as the limited puzzle pieces do most of the work for you. Flooder kills buddy when thrown through or within range of the flooder's path, running through with invincibility frames is possible but unintended (prochara), and there are no other tools at the player's disposal. All that leaves is letting buddy attack the flooder, and any problems with the puzzle are a result of the player overthinking it or trying to brute force a wrong answer.
I am incredibly glad that i am not the only player whos been playing since the beginning of splat 1 get stuck on the flooder puzzle. I just damage boosted both times and it worked somehow.
I beat the hero mode like a day or two after the game came out, and i finished it and just sat there like "damn... so that's it?" idk why, it just felt like it was missing something. And then it hit me that this campaign was the end of the squidbeak splatoon era of campaigns.. AND THEN the credit song played, and i was finally like "y'know what, that was awesome" Definitely tied with octo expansion imo.. such a wonderful journey :) can't wait to see what the DLC brings!
This only without any emotional response, even realizing this was the end of this story... It never tries to be anything else than a silly joke so the only attachment I feel is out of nostalgia and not earned through compelling plot/gameplay
The only thing I think they could've improved on is the character development of Deep Cut and Octavio. I wish we got to see Deep Cut initially reluctant to joining your side before coming to trust you, and I really wish Octavio got more screen time throughout the campaign. Otherwise though, it was excellent! Gameplay-wise, the campaign was phenomenal, I loved finally seeing and fighting Grizz, and all the new lore provided through the world design, logs, and scrolls was great!
They really should have made a level where you were forced to learn the flooder trick. As far as I know there is one level where marie mentions it, but you can skip along without learning it.
The fact it took me 3-4 days to 100% complete the story mode but for dude... I guess he decided to begin later I guess. He's not too far behind. And on top of that the fact he's REALLY good with performing movements in this game gave him the advantage. But anyway I'll just say congrats on finishing the story mode and I bet you enjoyed it as much as we all did. :)
the issue with the story mode in this game is it tells where to go but never tells you how to get there. With the flooder part, I was stuck for a solid 10 mins before looking up a walkthrough. they treated it like octo expansion without any cannon octolings. imo, the best story mode in the series, 8.5 for me :) loved the squid sisters' cameo and giving backstory to the deep cut. the credits were so cute. missed out with shooting in them though. I love to see DUDE have fun!
Not so fun fact. That shape that little buddy took while fighting grizz is what salmon look like while they're getting ready to mate. So during the fight little buddy is bricked up for the whole thing
I may not have played Splatoon 1 and 2, but I really will miss the Squid Sisters being in the hero modes seeing how Splatoon 3 marks the end of the Squidbeak Splatoon Saga. It's as if they know it's the end of their saga and they're waving goodbye to everyone who's been with them throughout all 3 games
to be fair about the flooder thing, literally there's only one place it tells you what to do where only one weapon option has little buddy, if you dont do that specific level a specific way there's nothing to clue you in
For 12:10, I had the opposite problem. I got my equipment, but I didn't see the vent because that room is really dark. Edit: I do NOT remember seeing those power eggs. Did they add them in a patch or am I an idiot xD
This isn't one of those times, but sometimes I wonder if I already watched the stream where your videos come from until I see my name in the chat, haha.
I personally enjoyed the story also as I believe it is the best base story the franchise has told to date. I also failed the final phase first time going as I did not know I was supposed to drive it, ha ha. I said the same thing when the little buddy started mega evolving by the Three mix song of calamari intration.
12:10 tbh… same exact thing happened to me 💀 i shot the power eggs leading into the vent and didn’t notice the actual vent, when i looked up the solution i felt like a massive dumbass lmfao
