Barney Fife is all too happy to help Farmer Jeb Pruitt find a bride until he falls for his Thelma Lou. The Farmer is played by Alan Hale Jr., better know as the Skipper from Gilligan's Island.
Alan Hale was one of life's good guys. He loved being recognized as the Skipper and just loved meeting his fans, especially kids. He was kind hearted and apt to laugh or smile for any reason. He had the best life because he decided he was living the best life. I never read not one bad thing about him. He treated everybody he ever met as his little buddy.
U R right. it seems Barney thinks he is nowhere as good as he is. He refers to himself as a loser at times. I give the man 2 thumbs up. in this world we all need to laugh at times and barney does that. I love it when he talks to the sub-conscious of Otis, trying to find the location of a still. Barney is A-1.
Everyone knows they really hate veggin males and females love eating healthy most people hate eating green like vegetables and fruit they reather eat meat.
Mandy O' Callahan : True But Personally Bob Denver Will Always be Alan Hale Jr's Little Buddy Since They've Side by Side with Each Other Over The Course of 17 Years of The CBS 1960's Sitcom Gilligan's Island 1964-1967 & The Gilligan's Island Movies of 1978-1979 to 1981. And Not to Mention When They've Made an Appearance On The NBC 1980's Sitcom ALF
I just recently learned that the only reason Barney left the show was because Andy had told everyone when the show first started that it would end in 5 years. Anyway when it got close to that time Barney ( Don Knotts) decided to sign a contract with a huge movie studio (Universal?) After he heard the show was going to continue, he tried to break the contract but wasn't allowed too. Sad twist of fate.
@@tomlayman3141 Don landed on his feet pretty well after his exit from the series, The show was never really as funny with out him and it struggled in the end.
Bob Denver appeared in at least one episode as Charlene Darling's husband; he even sang w/the family :) It would have been fun to see Bob and Alan together in the show :)
@@warrenhoffman2006 I thought there might be two different actors, or maybe Bob Denver played another boyfriend. I distinctly remember Bob singing "Boil Them Cabbage Down" with Andy, Barney, and the Darlings. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Eu77tX7uDvc.html
Alan Hale was a big, loveable, teddy 🧸. People that knew him said he was a decent human being. He looked so much like his dad! The Skipper has "little buddies" everywhere 😊😐
Alan Sr. & Jr. were always very close. In Gilligan's Island, the Skipper always wore a diamond pinky ring that was said to be a very valuable heirloom, passed down in his family for hundreds of years. In truth, it was actually a gift from Alan Hale Sr. to Jr., who never ever took it off, so they wrote the heirloom story to explain it.
Andy Griffith and Barney Fife were, in my opinion, the best comedy team ever, then followed by the Skipper and Gilligan. These shows are still fun to watch after all these years since production.
Very Good PennyCooper - *RIP JEFF* He ended up getting a Divorce, Selling his farm, Left Mayberry and baught a Boat and Started an Island Charter Company for Exotic Trips with a Free lunch included, aboard his tiny ship called the S.S. Minow. Until one day on Friday, November 22, 1963 (The Day of President Kennedy's Assassination.) The Crew of two men and now (Jeff) calls himself the Skipper and No one knows his real name unless they came from Mayberry; they set sail on that fateful morning along with 5 passengers touring the exotic islands. That is; Until the Weather started getting rough and the Tiny ship was tossed, Although the fearless crew tried to save the 5 passengers, They Woke on an uncharted Desert Island, Doomed to live there forever. They wake up on the Island Every day with NO escape Everytime they feel they are rescued the still end up going Back and waking up on the Island, Doomed to repeat for ever and ever and Not knowing the tiny ship was actually sunk and they all drowned. Alan Hale's dad was a more accomplished actor during the 1940s, but the son was well rewarded with his role on Gilligan's Island. The casting agent for Paramount had been struggling to find the right person to play the Skipper, and was up against a tight schedule when one night he and friends were dining at a popular LA restuarant. Alan was also there with friends, and his gregarious theatrics and flamboyant mannerisms caught the attention of the agent. Not recognizing him, he approached Hale to ask if he was interested in film work, only then learning whose son he was, and the rest is history.
Love when Jeff pick's up Barney, he is a stick pin, light as a feather, so funny!!!!!! A hen party, hilarious!!!! Great Show, watch it everyday, it make's me laugh all the time!!!!🥀🥀🥀🥀..2022.....
Alan Hale is cute in this. He used to be in a short-lived show where he played the part of train engineer Casey Jones, a few eps of it used to be on you tube, don't know if they still are.I think it was aired during 1960, on TV. Several of these classic old shows the entire acting staff are gone now. I think Eb is the only living actor from Green Acres now days.
Keep in mind, Bob Denver was also on the show. He played "Dud Wash" (replacing Hoke Howell) in the episode "Divorce Mountain Style". He was deliberately chosen, as CBS wanted to promote the upcoming pilot of "Gilligan's Island".
I have met and talked to Thelma Lou in real life and I forgot to ask her what she thought of the Skipper... I live close to her so guess I`ll have to go ask :)
I remember this program very well and when it comes to comedy both The Andy Griffith Show and the Gilligan's Island are both tied for first place according to my husband. Please refrain from putting rude remarks or comments here.

YUP Barney lost it! in an episode where Gomer took Thelma Lou to the dentist, Barney said, "I have her in my hip pocket." and she was seen by Barney to be kissing Gomer. . .

This episode is on TV Land sometimes. I don't think there has ever been a year that this show hasn't been on some channel, it is a very popular sitcom even after all these decades. The Skipper is cute on this.
Actually Thelma Lou would have been wise to give Pruitt a chance, let him court her. Barney never really committed until the reunion movie. Heck, Thelma Lou even married another man during the series.
I love skipper he is so funny he is from Gilligan Island you know what everyone says about what you watching gilligan who me gilligan funny hit by the coconut tree.
