they did the same thing with Tom & Jerry and Spongebob. classic OG spongebob is an incredibly moral show trying to teach children lessons about maintaining your innocence & naivety in life. if you keep a good heart & wish well on others the world will try to bend itself around towards things working out in your favor, even if your circumstances don't seem glamorous to the outside. it isnt true, but it's good for your soul if you do your best to live as if it were true modern spongebob is, and my ex binge watched every episode next to me multiple times in a row so you have to take my word for this that i am not just responding to youtube edits or what other people have told me, torture porn for children. & usually the person being mutilated screaming did nothing wrong and is actively trying to make it stop and the designated good guys of the series are the ones perpetrating it for no reason, which makes the show not just gross & creepy but actively bad that it exists. im doing my best not to become a "think of the kids" andy as i age but i can't help but be made uncomfortable that the basic thesis of the show now is "hah hah, isnt bullying fun AND hilarious?"
