That is a gorgeous piece. I didn't originally think Panerai was quite my kinda style, but they really grew on me. They are so distinct, hard to mistaken, unique, and are really their own niche category. I love that 1950 case but the regular Luminor case is just as appealing to me in a different more simplistic manner. I think a Panerai is a great way to round out or complete a balanced collection.
Best buy if you like to make it an understatement. Wearing Panerai's since 2005 and and will never stop looking at the sheer simplicity and timeless design. As rightfully mentioned, they are intended to be worn. Selecting a Saphire Glass might save you from some scratches as opposed to the composite (plexy type) glass. Scratches on case etc add that little extra history in my opinion and age and charm is a nice thing to have. Keep a very good value as well.
For me the design aesthetic is what drew me to the brand. I love that you can’t just go to a mall and see one unlike your Rolex’s or Breitling’s. I have the 088 and looking forward to wearing it in over the years. Nice video!
I think this is the first time I've seen a serious 1312 review. I own one and I don't feel like I need another luminor. Many ppl says pam001 or 000 for a perfect the 1st panerai watch but 1312 has almost everything ppl will ask for their first panerai. Has sandwich dial, small second hand, date, clear case back and fantastic 3days automatic movement. What more can you ask for? Great piece and thank you for the great review as well!
Panerai is a great brand. I was/am a huge fan. I use to be on timezone, paneristi and viapaneristi forums all the time. Among other forums then moved on but after about ten years of having no panerai in the stable, I have considered one again. Kobold seal was another great matchup to the panerai. The one on your thumbnail is a 1950 case. I had the luminor case.
My Panerai 233 is my favorite watch. Years ago when I was shopping for a Panerai, I was about to buy a 312 when I saw the 233 and fell for it. I like the sandwich dials of certain Panerai models which give the dial some depth when the lume is going and in the case of the 233, the domed crystal is amazing.
This case design is their best! Absolute mastery of the iconic cushion case template. Other Luminor cases are similar, but something about the proportions, creases, and curves of this specific model are simply stunning.
I believe I must have that risk taking gene. Its both a curse and a blessing. I took delivery of my Bronze 1950 Luminor to be honest because I thought it was a good deal and for the sheer in-your-face chutzpah of having this 47mm diving bell strapped to my arm. Turns out I love it. I mean I LOVE it. Just ordered a bright green strap with a bronze buckle. Looks like I am lost, and happily.
I have the same watch! Love it!! A little FYI..... The brown leather strap shown is not the standard OEM strap. Black Lizard or Alligator is. Would rather the brown one shown here. Very nice! Great video!!
Oh Bruce Finally mate! Great video! I own a Pam351 and it's worth mentioning that this piece has a 1950 case, so its slightly different to the normal luminor case. You know I've owned a lot of watches but Panerai has that cool factor that no other watch has given me. p.s Don't get a 42mm pam :D

I already in love with panerai watch, before i knew it brand. Only because of the shape. And Last Christmas is the first time i buy my first panerai BY my own🤣 it was panerai luminor marina carbotech😍 next target is Submersible 47mm carbotech 😁 nice to know you all😁
Just bought a Panerai luminor marina 00510 8 days and it’s amazing. Once you have one of these on wrist your hooked. Different than anything else but done at a high level
I have this exact model! Yes, it is overpriced. You can buy a Tudor, Blancpain, Rolex, breitling to get a dive watch But if you want Panerai style, the only brand you could get is a Panerai. Panerai is the one and the only one
I like coming back to your reviews on Panerai as I work up towards my PAM01086. I like your comments on the lack of minute track, because ultimately you're right: it's not important. Heck, the 1086 doesn't even have a second hand or date. I love that... why do I really need those?
Funny: I've been looking at Panerai's lately. I fallen in love the new Submersible Khaki Green dial on Bronze. If you haven't seen it, go take a look. It's really awesome. Sold out I think. But saw one pop up for sale on WUS.
I wonder if you can change the dial and hands to a 2021 non-ecru update version? Also a silver/steel seconds hand as well. Since 2020 the 1312 comes with a closed case back and the movement is not decorated.
Great review and info as always. I have bin looking for a 111 or 112 at a fair price. I like the fact that these models are classic and much more cost effective to service. I original ly wanted the the 8day 392 but the cost to repair is much more significant as they have a in house p9k movement I think. I love the look of these watches and rich history. Thanks Bruce!!
Great video! I have the PAM00112 and Super Avenger. The Super Avenger does wear taller but I’d have to say that it wears more comfortably, due to the case-back design.
Is definitely a unique watch! But best bought in secondary market not worth buying in retail as it depreciate alot if you are really interested in panerai
Bruce. Nice to see you review Panerai, got a Luminor Marina titanium ( Bettarini case ) and a classic Radiomir " black seal" . Love them !! Thanks for the review you did on the Rolex Airking. I was considering it and after the review and my decision was driven by your macro shots, I got hold of one! Have to say that it wears great and the looks different from the usual line up of Rolex sports models.
Looks nice on wrist. I also have a 7.25 in wrist. So your videos help out. I never realized how so many guys have such small wrist. I'm not a tall (5'5) or big guy (180) haha.
Probably is too famous to fake. If Rolex is the first fake watch brands I've seen, Panerai is second. But, great review Bruce! I learnt something new about Panerai.
Great review Bruce. A week ago I would've said No More Panerai, my PAM682 with the wicked turn bezel is the only one then I'm done. Now I worry I may be going down a rabbit hole. Gimme a buzz in a few months if you'd like me to send in the Submersible for review.
Well I like what you have to say about this brand. I have only known one young guy ( A body builder ) with bigger wrists than yours Mr. Williams. Yes they are too big for my now puney wrists but iF I were able to wear one I would definitely wear it on my right arm.. That crown Gaurd is the only negative in my opinion. It looks even big on your 7.5 wrist Bruce. But I like everything else bout it. Size & guard R the minuses. Like the dial, like all the straps. Have a Jolly GREAT XMAS..
Just got my PAM 1312 yesterday! beautiful watch, but one thing that keep bugging me in, it always died after 1 day, after manually winding it for 25x, is it normal? how many times should I wind it to get full capacity of its power reserve?
I had a PAM 512, 005, 048 and 299. I definitely like the sausage dial more. If you're looking at the watch head on then not really a difference but once you turn the watch to some off angles the sandwich indices totally disappear so all you see is the polished hands or nothing if you have the black hands. With the sausage markers you can tell 10 feet away it's a Panerai. I like the full polished and thinner case of the 005 but I still think the 104 is the best PAM. Full polish, a date cyclops for some extra pop and visual interest and that green sausage lume just blasts and contrasts in most light conditions which just looks great.
How does your model have a clear caseback and beige letters? Looks like the 1312 model has a steel caseback and green letters when I look on the website.
Panerai should've changed the reference numbers. The original 1312s had clear caseback and zero reset seconds hand as shown in this video. Now it has a sandblasted movement, solid caseback and non-hacking seconds....
Nice vid, to bad that the price drops so much, the AD’s wont even buy the watch back from you. The replicas are so good now, and a lot of them have been sold as gen and are floating around the bay.
That's why I bought from a trusted pre-owned dealer, in my case Josh at Watchbox. I'd add that once you get to jump hour in-house movements like this P.9010 or an Omega 8900, they have not been faked. Maybe in another 10 years.
Was offered a trade for a PAM312 (full set, OEM straps) for my Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra (master coaxial). Kind of torn to be honest. I like the PAM a lot, fits my lifestyle of outdoor spots and traveling a bit better. My concern is that I wear suits to work, wondering its just too big for that. I'm a one-watch guy, because I can't afford service costs of multiple watches. Any advice is welcome.
I think PAM 312 is a better deal and it is generally more expensive than the OMEGA so if you not paying any premium you should go for it. I wore mine with suits with no problem, yes it is big but it does not bother me, the trick is that you change the straps to ones that goes better with suits. Final thought, make sure the Panerai has good service history.
This PAM has P.9010 calibre having hour jumping capability, being useful when changing time zone. Anyway, can anyone tell me whether P.4000 (22k micro-rotor) have such the jumping hour function?
I've been hooked by them for several times, but always felt underwhelmed when I saw them in the metal. The details are not proportional to their price. That said, I do like some of their designs and vibe. I would consider them if the details are improved or the prices are set reasonably.
I feel exactly the same way. Panerai watches caught my eye and lust back in the late 90s/early 2000s from the pictures in watch magazines, but it wasn't until the late 2010s that I tried one on, just like the one Bruce has in this video. And it just didn't do it for me, I was so surprised.
Did the watch community attack this movement when it came out, like they have with Tudor’s in-house movements? It seems similar ethos, of being modern/simple, without embellishing.
Love the history of the brand and their designs especially the new submersible. But the price is just not for me. I don't' want any watch as a status symbol.
I'm surprised you're not a Paneristi... your wrist, active lifestyle, and watch interests make you an ideal Panerai guy. I wish you showed this brand more on your channel... and not watches from Cartier, Hublot, or JLC. The brands that have the most loyal followers/collectors seem to be Rolex, Patek, Seiko, and Panerai. Great, popular brands like Omega, Breitling, IWC, Zenith, Tudor don't have the same level of loyalty.
Like the lume, case style is unique to Panerai. I do not get excited about Panerai though, definitely not excited enough to pay for what Panerai wants for their watches. I don't think I'm the only one. Heard the used Panerai watch market is soft. So I guess now is the time to buy used, but still not interested.
If you go on the official Panerai website it shows a solid back. Various other sites show a mixture of both though most well known UK AD's show a solid back. I would be very cautious if not buying from an AD with the amount of Panerai fakes about.
I love that watch but I hate the price it will be good if any Swiss watch maker will make an homage watch for panerai like squale did with the GTM Rolex very good explanation Bruce
@@sergiocastro588 I like the new Breitling Premier line, except for the tinny flimsey clasps and lack of screwed crown. For more than 3K i demand a great bracelet, clasp and screwed crown.
E VH well it depends , I would put everything else first but the bracelet , because you can just buy one and put it there , however , Panerais look funny on bracelets , and the croc straps are expensive man , it’s not a cheap thing. The crown is one of the safest and more iconic , although if you don’t like that bulkiness, you can go for the radiomir , they are pretty robust and wey more iconic looking than any breitling . They last forever
Panerai is love it or hate it, normally the ones who hate it is because they cant have it, and so is pefect couse panerai is not for everyone otherwise woudnt be a panerai justba rolex or so....
I'm amazed anyone is able to scratch the saphire. I'm rough with my 300SMPm and have banged in on most everything, but that saphire, thats pretty tough to damage. Unless of course I'm not seeing the scratches due to the reflections of the ceramic dial....now watch, today, i'm going to walk out of my place and scratch the gdamn sapphire...smh...
