A look at why I've kept this watch. I answer the most common questions other collectors ask me about this PAM111 Luminor. My original PAM00111 video from almost three years ago - • I bought a Panerai
When Panerai became hot in mid 2000s, I wasn’t into it. However, 5 years ago, my preference started to lean towards clean, simple dial and manual wind watch. So during my holidays in Hong Kong, I bought a preowned PAM 574. I got hooked. I love wearing it despite my large collection. Why? Reasons are it goes with any outfits, easy to set the time (the zero reset sec hand function is great), awesome lume and a pleasure to wind the movement. Then I bought my 2nd Panerai…. PAM 233. Another amazing watch…
Amazing watch. This review convinced me to pull the trigger on a pam111. I like you - have been drawn to this design. I have had this watch for a few months and can’t imagine parting with it.
It's a great watch my friend. I bought my first PAM 111 ten years ago from my first bonus. I was super happy with it. After 5 five years or so I lost it, probably I left it hanging on a coat hook in a spa facility. In my latest memory I left it there, while changing my clothes and probably forgot about it. Someone had his lucky that day. This year I decided to save up for a new one, yesterday I bought the exact same model. It actually went up in price, so it seems a good investment. I remember being irritated sometimes for it not being automatic. But now I consiously decided to go for it again, and everytime when I will get irritated about it... I will take a moment to appreciate the masterpiece it is, how much it means to me and how special it is. So while waiting for the watch to arrive, I started watching movies about it. There you go! Nice vid!
I have 17cm wrists and I owned a Luminor 773 for a little while. Like you, I didn’t give Panerai a second look for 14 years of collecting. Bought one sight unseen without ever trying one on and I love it. It’s like anything else out there and it’s actually extremely comfortable. The 44mm Luminkr is akin to 39mm in other brands - it’s the sweet spot for most wrists.
My wrist is only 6 inches! I always thought it would be too big and look silly on my small wrist but no! After 1 year of owning an authenticated Pam 104 44cm display with a display back, I still get complimented on it. Mine is on a vintage leather nato strap. I love it! This watch is a keeper!
I've been wearing my 2003 Pam48 for the past 3 years. It wears and looks like nothing else. No confusion of what you are wearing. It's beautiful, arrogant, irreverent, and forever in style. Love the review format.
Awesome recap! I love my PAM111 as well. I was thinking about selling this piece multiple times. But in the end... I could never let it go! It's just so unique in my collection and especially this exact reference combines so many 'things-you-want-to-have-in-your-Panerai' in just ONE Panerai which isn't that easy if you're familiar with their offerings! For me it's the perfect example for a watch for watch lovers. The watch is so stupid in so many regards but... it evokes emotions! And that's what it's all about in this unreasonable hobby.
I've always thought, "this guy has exactly the same taste in watches as I do"! Then you professed love for a Panerai. To be fair, I feel exactly about them as you said you did until you tried them on in Sydney, so maybe I'm just behind you by a bit.
I find that if I'm offended by a watch, I often change my feelings. The only feeling that seems to stay the same is disinterest. If I find a watch boring, that never changes.
Great video! It sealed the deal for a PAM00111 as my next watch. I agree! This is the Panerai to get! I can't believe Panerai doesn't continue making these? I took your advice and went hunting for one of my own. The hunt is always the best part! Right!? Well, after 2 weeks I found and bought one with all the box(es) and papers. Now, I wait for it to arrive. I found it interesting that the Full Kit PAM00111's for sale are demanding quite the premium prices online. So, I'm confident if I don't love it, I can sell it with zero problems. It might even hike up in value as these become more vintage and rare as the years go by.
I have to say since subscribing to your videos I have been very impressed. I’ve watched a lot of reviewers…urban gentry..jenni ell..Bruce Williams…teddy..bark and jack and so on, but your style is unique and the videos are very interesting. Seriously keep up the good work and I bet you’ll hit 100k subscribers soon!
Having owned 5 Panerai's to date, the 111 and 177 have always been mini grails of mine. I LOVE Ti, but then, "steel is real", as they say. I currently have a chance to buy a nice late model 111 full set at a fair price from a first class seller. If I get an enabling reply to this comment within 24 hours, I'm gonna do it!!
As soon as you said, "ain't nobody got time for that" I was done! Great recap, and congrats on keeping your 111. I hope you can add a Radiomir and then a Submersible someday!
My advice.....Go and try one on!
I bought my PAM 112 about 20 years ago and I wear it weekly. I have lots of straps from custom craftsmen. My other watch is an earlier Omega Seamaster. Two great watches I have worn for over a quarter century. I would buy (both) again.
I’m considering Panerai more and more lately, only a matter of time before I blow some money. Always happy to see when you have a video drop - very cool, as always.
Great video! Clicked right away. The 111 looks great on your wrist. I’m lucky to have the pam233 and the Pam634 and will never let them go. If I’m ever bored what I’ll do is stop wearing them and pick something else in my collection and after a while when it’s back on the wrist…boom! New watch. Lol! Also, love how it’s a different watch with different straps, so easy to change too.
Your reviews are just so good! I'm currently looking at a Radiomir 655 (granted not the same case) and this long term review may have sealed the deal for me.
Better to lose some cash than never know is spot on. I finally took the plunge on a 914 and I don’t regret it one bit. I feel the same way you do about your Panerai
PANERAI are so underrated - gorgeous brand, not all references are amazing, but love them!!! Great video - always be in my small collection. ETA movement are so smooth & bullet proof. Great choice & designed to look like the original ROLEX movements,
Great video. I've just picked up a PAM297, and shared many of your preconceptions. I even took my first look at it on the day of delivery and laughed out loud at the gargantuan size! I then stuck it on my wrist and loved it! Watch collecting/collectors are weird 😊
Thank you so much for a first video after that I buy my Pam111 and no one day to regret, it’s so cool and great watch, absolutely agree with all your words, Pam give me feeling - what can give only Pam and this is true. I’m a Tudor guy, but I have Pam111 and I’m Paneristi 😉😅 thanks for another beautiful video my friend 👌👍🙏
I own a 111 and it's just amazing to look at. Italian bravado and design at its finest. And 44mm might sound 'big', but once it's on the wrist, it's like you become 'one' with it. Thanks for the video. Good to know I'm not alone on the 111. ; )
I love my PAM 914 more than any other brand I own in my collection Rolex, Cartier, Omega…. The 914 never comes off my wrist it’s just a killer look !!!
Hey! you were the first channel that got me interested in looking at Panerai...and I finally got to try a couple of the 42mm Luminors on this summer...like you say; a surprisingly great fit ( even for my angel hair pasta wrist) ...I do want a display caseback tho... so i'm still looking.
Couldn’t. Agree. More. I don’t wear mine more than a few times per month … but the second I put it back on, I swoon joy and think, “why the heck don’t I wear this more?!” Well, the answer is that after a few days, I just want something smaller. But ironically enough, that is what makes the Panerai ownership experience so fantastic for me: I never get tired of the watch because it is too bulky to wear on a daily basis (for my tastes anyway), and this means that when I do put it on, it is perfectly novel again and immediately transports me to the dumbest of watch-lover ecstasies.
Bought a Pam 590 the other day and I LOVE it! Really surprised me as I'm typically a Rolex guy, but even on my 6.5 inch wrists this wears wonderfully. I'd urge anyone to give them a go.
Panerai is unlike any other and if anyone out there is having doubts but has some interest, I would recommend trying one on. I have a 47mm PAM 372 and although it a bulky lil beast it wears so nicely and receives many a curious eye from the public
You have an ideal wrist size for pulling off larger watches without being too burly. Your wrist shots always look perfect. I wish I could pull off the 46mm Big Pilot.
Awesome as ever bro. Your pam is one reason I got hooked back into the brand and now proudly own a 1321. Keep it real dude, and keep that pam god dam you!
Referring to luminor due question, for à reasonable size (42mm) with an acceptable water résistance, just go for the PAM 620: 100m wr, sandwich dial with 3,6,9,12 numbers, à small second and last but not least thin enough to wear it in any occasions: from casual to extrêmly formal. The only issue is that panerai has produced them during only 2 years if I remember well (2x500 pièces) and now they are rare!
Panerais are a joy to own and wear. I still own and wear one, but my biggest watch regret in 10+ yrs of collecting is selling a beauty 112F with decorated movement.
Awesome review - thank you! For those on the fence with wrists 7'' and below - further to the review, the PAM 2392 should be high on your list - 42mms, wonderful inhouse movement.
I love Panerai, and nowadays even more. Wherever i stop to buy coffee these days most people i see there in line are wearing Rolex so my Panerai is standing out in my environment. And this Pam111 will be my next watch to buy it would be my 1st sandwich dial and my third Panerai.
I agree, Panerai hates it’s fans. The 111 is a perfect Pam and it really does suit you really good. The movement Itself is optical more pleasing than the new 8 day ones as you actually cannot see anything. So, good you have it, look forward to see the update in 3 years. Keep up the good work and cheers from Germany 👍🏻👍🏻
for some people, scratches on polished case is a must (I hope you've ever heard this?), but dents is a no. Probably scratches mean you're a hard worker and don't like waste your time (by keeping your watch in perfect shiny condition), or just like old vintage watches.
I just bought my first, and I went nuts white dial and everything but for some reason it was the one I really liked. I have never liked a watch as much, I can not explain why I had never tried one on and I always though they where too large etc. they are just great pieces and the 6497 is an incredible movement and it is cosc. I can't see myself ever selling this one.
I live in Kenya so it’s important to me that a watch (save for Rolex which has a couple of local watchmakers who can service) be Selitta or ETA based for my peace of mind. *blows kiss at IWC Mark series*
1:16 -- Thanks for this! recently I bought an IWC Big Pilot 43 from an AD. It has yet to arrive. Something tells me that it, too, will be stupid, ridiculous, and wonderful. Fingers crossed.
Used to avoid anything larger than 40, then I wore an Arnie and changed my mind. Used to avoid Titanium then tried a GS SBGA415 and changed my mind. I used to avoid Panerai because of similar earlier sentiments you had… then saw your original PAM111 video, combined with all aforementioned and later will be picking up a PAM177 later today. I have to say you’re partially responsible Evan. Lol.
Love your work. Cheers! Have been interested in the pam111 since I first tried it on, and would buy it new. But with modern pams not really “like it” and 111 fakes all over the place, maybe it’ll remain just a wish..
@@johnhatton730 almost like the 111, terrible open back though. The p5000 looks like a slab of metal + 2 gears. Nowhere as beautiful as the 111s decorated eta. As for Panerai “in-house” movements, at least with the 111 you know what it is
"There are many people who are drawn to these but aren't ready to take the leap". You just described me. I bloody love these but not sure if I should be dropping upwards of $9000 for one.
My 915 actually has a display case back. I think they switched at some point. Anyway, one of my favorite watches, and definitely the one most fun wearing on a beefy leather strap.
Just tried the Breitling Avenger II Seawolf beast and love it! 45mm and thiiiick but I wanted to try something crazy and fun. Sound familiar? Panerai is next hopefully.
