The Archvile in old-school doom: *all your hard work is g o n e* Archvile in Eternal: *smooth brain* Archvile in Eternal as the playable demon: *oh god oh fuck it burns*
Traping a slayer in one of those portal area means death if it does happen even at full health. I only know because it happened to me. Just to say I suprised me to know an archvile killed me in less than 10 seconds.
I feel that some enemies just get a very unfair advantage in certain arenas - the archvile has teleport and if you don't know some of the areas, you'll find he'll just get into a place which is very difficult to find. As far as areas affecting the difficulty of monsters, I had felt that the first demon hunter was very difficult, but the next fight against two at the same time was much more easy because I could get to cover very quickly and even suck some resources from fodder without harassment that I got in the first battle against just one because the area was very open where you'll either in the open, or against a outer wall and can only escape to the center, or worst in the trenches where you'll get attacked from back, front AND above. The arena allows for so much focus fire on the player compared to the few walls and ramps and overpasses that the typical arena has.
I dont get it. I never had archviles hurl shit at me or teleport in any of the doom games except eternal's battlemode. I guess they needed it just to balance out the class since everything else had a ranged attack. And that having it do its line of sight foot-cooker hitscan would maybe be too frustrating? In the original, the foot-cooker could took like 300 ticks to finally go off and could easily be interrupted if line of sight was lost or if the arch-viles pain state was dicerolled on taking damage, and since it wasn't directly IN the player but rather in front of their sight, you could push it into a wall and take reduced damage from the explosion or run into the archvile who is casting it to get them to frag themselves with a point blank delivery happening inside of them. IE a brave and reckless player could do more damage to the archvile casting a line of sight foot-cooker explosion with the archvile's own magic, than the player would take normally from just letting themselves get hit by it. The footcooker cast is annoying sure, but it seems like a balancable feature. It would be leagues more faithful as an ability than just making flame boi a larger imp. FIREBALL FIREBALL PEW PEW
It was really fun for the first few weeks when nobody had any clue what they were doing, yourself included. Then most people left, some people got gud and network issues started. That means that you either spend ½hr+ looking for a game until you finally give up, only for the people you match with/against to have played 3 or 3000 matches with nothing in between.
@@almachizit3207 I played a little to do the challenges. it wasn't miserable. But it seemed to me like everyone just wanted to play Demon for easy wins.
@@glennmartin802 I haven't played in a while, I'm guessing it must have perked up a bit since I last played. I only really played multiplayer during the first 3 months

Archviles and Pain-Elementals are bullshit in Battlemode. They have an indestructible shield and require one of the least used weapon mods in the game just to get around it. Plus, it's ironic how the Pain Elemental has a Shinobi skin despite not understanding honor, something ALL SHINOBI ARE FORCED TO KNOW IN ORDER TO BECOME A SHINOBI TO BEGIN WITH!!!
theyre absolutely terrible, once you kill all the other demons and theyre the last one they run away like a little bitch until their friends respawn which makes a cycle over and over
