Becky, you’re amazing. Thanks for all your help and your book. I just mixed up another big barrel of chicken food. My 10 chickens love it. I finally found the oats in the horse area of TSC. No judging. 😆 I’m getting double yolks and my family sent me pictures when they got their first dozen eggs. I can’t tell you enough what a blessing my girls have been to me. They love me and follow me everywhere. I was thrilled when l got my first 10 eggs. By the way you look great! Have a blessed day.
Becky, I’ve been watching you for 3 years, and next month I’m finally getting the backyard chickens I’ve been dreaming of! Thanks for your amazing and informative videos ❤
Becky, your advice is golden! I have kept chickens most of my life and share many of your videos with others to share tips, tricks, how to's, what not to do's and more! Please keep up the great work!
First timers here in SC. Before we got our first "chickie babies" we read read read all you were saying about chickens. Now 9 months later our "chickie babies" have laid steadily thru winter. We have 12 and get 9-11 eggs daily. Thank you. (And it's so fun)
it's really nice to see that you are thriving out there! I have learned so much from you over the years and really enjoy your Channel! thank you and blessings
This is a great coop idea! It makes perfect sense and is nice to look at. And the hoop design looks great and seems much sturdier and protects the chickens well. A win win for sure!
Perfect!!! I noticed the bullying at the food bowl also, and their social order is for 1 dominant chicken having 2 or 3 feeding stations makes it harder for the “guard” to be mean… GREAT TIP!!! Wonderful as always 👍
@@BeckysHomestead I think I’ve watched all of your videos but I don’t remember seeing one that fits the “sweetie/feisty” category so if u have one please share the title or make a video titled “sweet & salty”! I have 13 chickens & bought the ones you suggested. I’ve learned a lot about chicken behavior & it can be heartbreaking to see your sweet chickens being bullied by a chicken that u love the most lol! My favorite is the smallest of the bunch & she has 2 or 3 chickens that she’s mean to & it hurts me to have to poke or scold her lol bc I love her so much! But it’s true, they can be little tyrants & guard the food & water :( Thank you for another great video!
I enjoyed your video... I always learn something new. But I have used my extra fence wiring and bent it over like yours. Makes an easy run. I put a clear tarp over half of it so they could get out of the rain or snow and still enjoy the weather. Two doors makes sense. Good ideas all around 😃 Thank you for your videos.
We have 4-week-old chicks and I have been trying to figure out the easiest way to build them a run. The horse panels idea is brilliant! I have always used them for growing gourds and never thought about using them for my chickens! Love it, thank you! 🙏🏻
OMG Becky I have cattle panels for my garden but never thought about them for a chicken run!!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! My chickens free range but it is nice to have an outdoor run so I can go away for the whole day and not have to worry about being back by dark to tuck them in!!!
Hey Becky! So happy to see things progressing on your new homestead. That is so awesome! I was wondering if you could do a video all about Neil and what kind of pig he is, how big was he when you got him, what you feed him, the care involved, whether he would do well with other pigs of his kind, and if his breed can be used to clear areas like the area off the horse pasture that you showed and said, needed to be cleared. I know that there are homesteaders that are using pigs to clear thick areas of brush and weeds etc, in their wooded areas, to create silvopasture. Anyway, thank you so much for always sharing your wonderful best life with us! It is an inspiration! ♥️
Becky, this cute coop idea is giving me ideas. It's nice to pick another persons brains and expound upon them. You are such a whiz on chickens. Love you videos. Thanks.
Seen lots of coops for ideas to rebuild my new one...and I really like your new set up ... I admit imma do my best to copy it Becky...thanks again ,always great advise!!!!!💜
I used to continuously watch your videos about 4 years back…then somewhat your videos are completely out of my sight and suddenly I remember you now…4years down the line…and back here on this video…Happy to see that you are doing great…Nice work Becky 🎊👍🏻
Hello back 'beautiful Becky'! SUCH a practical demo vid of 'paradise' coop. U can C that the chickens are without stress and loving all the options U have given them from this layout = perfect! Don't U luv having all the 'good' input to your channel that keeps you 'tweeking' in a better, better, best direction? I would only suggest one thing for your lovely home...shutters. The REAL kind that U can close from the outside when a storm comes through. It becomes one less major thing U have 2 worry about if (God forbid) a nasty comes ripping through. Knowing U...it would make your home more practical and pop, pop, POP! Thanks 4 sharing your time/talents with us...health and God Bless! :)
Lots of people have great ideas. Anyone that thinks they know it all are boring people. In fact I think shutters would be great for the inside of my cabin to block out the hot sun in the summer instead of curtains. Although curtains are much cheaper because I make them.☀️❤️☀️
Build your coop first! Then get a few chickens. Not to many because trust me there is a line you cross that makes it a money pit because for chickens to lay well you have to spend quite a bit on chicken food. ☀️❤️☀️
Very Good Becky great ideas. Living in the northwest with all the rain we get I would do the top of the chicken house different but I like the two doors and cattle panel.
Becky you have my heart because I look to you for anything dealing with a homestead. Moreover, I am so not handy. So I will just buy my chicken coop at Wayfair!
No disrespect Mrs. Becky. I was talking about rain blowing in at the open wire at the top of the coop and in between the boards. I was just wondering if the chickens would get wet or cold. I really like the sand idea thou. Love your channel. I made my chickens the same mix of food you made yours. And the DE is wonderful. Maybe I just worry to much about mine I guess. Thanks for answering. You’ll get that place as beautiful as the other place.
Love the cute coop!😄🐓🐣 And with the wire you could easily hang from string or wire chunks of pieces of fruits ... say watermelon rinds in a couple places for them to peck at for fun, hydration and to keep cool in the sun.🐓🍉🍇😎 They look like happy healthy chooks! 🐓 😍🐓💖🐓🥰 Thanks for sharing your great tips! Blessings Becky. xo
I hope your chickens know how good they have it. Ours must work - processing garden waste and making compost. I never buy chicken feed - they eat vegees, manure and bugs. Great video!
How good is your egg production? I keep chickens for eggs production and my method works perfect for me. Once I get a bigger farm dog my chicken will free range during the day. Every Homestead is different and that is the beauty of it.☀️❤️☀️
I made my coop and run predator proof so my chickens can get up when they want. I never close the chicken door but it has one. I think its a wonderful idea to have 2 doors! My coop isn't big enough to have 2 doors lol
Your information is so helpful....I do have a small delimma. One of my hens lays an egg every morning before daylight it seems. She originally layed it in a nesting box, now it seems she is too lazy to go to the box and just lays the egg where she is roosting. It really isn't a huge thing to me, but should I do something about it? Thanks
Great video, what do you do during hurricanes? We just experienced a massive storm where we live and I felt like the chickens were not thoroughly protected. Thanks again!
Really enjoy your chicken knowledge Becky! You are excellent. I am used to seeing free range chickens and so your run look small for the hens. Boredom will ensue. Just a thought, it is your place and your rules, just seems small. Not criticizing you at ALL. You do good work.
Becky, I know this might be off subject but I just wanted and loved your Homemade liquid laundry detergent recipe video you made about 7 yrs ago and was wondering if you still use the laundry soap u made. Or if u have switched it up with something else, if u have any kind of excess detergent film on your clothes over the years. I had watched a couple of vids on social media saying in time homemade laundry detergent makes film on clothes and destroyed them or have to strip them using store bought soap. But it could be ppl saying this without trying it to get ppl from making there own. What's your thought or suggestions please.
Why not pine shavings? Also, I've read corn is not good during the hottest months of the year because it will raise the chickens body temps even more. Thoughts?
Hi Becky, I have done everything you advise and I only have 2 chickens laying eggs and not even every day. I bought my chickens in April and I have 7. Mid October 2 started laying eggs and last week I got 3 eggs. I’m in Utah. It’s very cold here. Can you please help me to get them laying eggs?🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hi becky nice video, any advice because i have orpingtons and rhode island , the roosters are always pecking each other and fighting any suggestion what to do because i want them to roam around and dont want them to be separated :) thank you
Becky, what is the benefit of owning goats? I have chickens and considered goats for the milk, but I don’t have tons of space. In order to get goat milk, the goats have to be lactating. I can’t continue to let the goats have babies. Is there any other benefit to owning goats than the milk?
love learning your tips about the chickens. We just got 6 more baby chicks and I'm ready for them to go outside. Where did you get that container for your garden?
Hello Becky lots of 🤗. One of your first subs since the beginning. I been trying to do the same. Live in FL and want to find something in western NC and I haven't been able to find a location 😔thanks for all your tips. I'll keep up the faith
Hi 🙂 I took your advice on feeding my chickens black oil sunflower seeds, oats and corn. I was wondering do you still feed your chickens the same diet or is there anything new?
