Very awakening! I felt kind of scared of heading back into one of my screenplays, you know? It was haunting me. I was hopping from first draft to the next without going back and reanalyzing something. -- I think I'm going to rewrite now!

I finished my first draft in September and only now have I started going back through it. Before I rewrite anything, I'm going back and asking questions of each scene. What is the characters motivation here? What subtext is behind their ? Does it contradict the actions/motivations in previous/upcoming scenes. It's a bit of a mammoth task amongst other tasks but it's well worth doing.

Excellent suggestions. Helpful and really interesting i like the tip about removing words, i don't know why i haven't been doing this because i also write poems and do this religiously stripping out every word that does not need to be there. And mate where did you get that badarse Pennyworth model, i want one for my niece she is terrified of him hahahaha ( She is 25 so not frightening a child)

And another doubt, the 8th steps seems very interesthing but I can't really get it. You shoukd have given a before and after snapshot so we can easilly understand it.

I was listening to this while editing in another window, so the bit at 0:34 weirded me out a little. Video starts, intro, music, more intro, DEAD SILENCE FOR AN UNCOMFORTABLY LONG TIME.

I just keep starting over and go through each scene and as I do so I notice things, small things usually, but I don't say I'm just looking bat dialogue, then whatever. I read it and the things that aren't quite right just pop out at me. Or I may notice a way to make a connection I hadn't noticed before. I keep going to the end. I then leave it alone the do the same thing the next day. Or maybe things came to me while away from the screenplay. Then after many revisions it gets very tight.

Great vid, thank you, but I have a doubt. I've read in many other places that a variation in tone can create juxtaposition. For instance, having a positive feeling tone, just before a negative feeling scene. As having a funny situation just before someone is killed. Is that really wrong?

Hi Didu, it ultimately comes down to the smoothness of the read. If it is too jarring it can be off-putting, but if it is balanced carefully it can work. If this is something you want to try within a screenplay, a suggestion would be to have a professional screenwriter read and give you feedback on if it works or not. Honesty isn't always the best policy. It's objectively weird that you have pen ink on your tongue. What you should have said is that you had a blue raspberry Jolly Rancher just before you made this video because now the only thing on my mind is how you could possibly get ink on your tongue.
