~ Seven years later (2019), and it is still fascinating to hear theist callers twist themselves into pretzels and accomplish nada. Thank you many times over to Matt and Don. Cheers, DAVEDJ ~

Peter is saying that a gambler that thinks the next card is going to be a king (which it isn't), is as likely or more likely to be correct than the other gambler who thinks it's a queen (which it is) These people exist.

Don's remark at 49.00 is a checkmate and enables Matt to finish it off. I love Peter's enthusiasm, but he is defending the indefensible.

Jesus. Having a discussion with a philosopher must take forever.. each term used in the conversation are first defined dissected and discussed to death.. 20000min later they still talk about what the word "naturalism" is. That's the first bloody term mentioned! 😆😂

I bet Peter goes to sleep arguing with himself. “There’s a car, you get a $million, but there’s another guy and a car, one guy is on a pogo stick, the other is eating a sandwich, but a crayon in one guy’s pocket doesn’t run like a pony, but the first guy can draw a perfect circle using a compass”.

You are in a subway tunnel. You have time to walk over to the platform and pull yourself up, if you do not do so you will soon be squashed by a train. If you do not perceive the oncoming train, if your perception organs do not detect it, you will die, if you can detect it you can respond to its presence and live. You are better off if your sense organs work correctly. You are far more likely to survive if your can perceive your surroundings, and less likely to survive if you do not have working senses. If you misinterpret the data of your senses, if you see the train as an oncoming cloud of butterflies you might not feel a need to move, and thus die. If you see the train as an onrushing demon, you might excessively panic and trip in your haste and die, you might escape and live but needlessly panic whenever you see trains in the future. Not misinterpreting the data of your senses makes you better off. You are more likely to survive if your interpretations match reality, and less likely if your interpretations do not match reality. False interpretations of reality would have to mimic aspects of accurate interpretations to be useful, and would be beneficial to the extent that they were accurate. If you see the oncoming train and think that you can escape the consequence of being run over by punching the train, you will be squashed. Accurately anticipating changes in your surroundings and consequences of your actions makes you better off. Capacity to accurately predict what will occur in the future makes you more likely to survive, inability to accurately predict consequences makes you less likely to survive. If you lack motivation to live, you will not take actions to preserve your life and may take actions to end your life, accurate perceptions will not have much, if any, bearing on whether you survive in this case. Accurate perception is not in itself sufficient, motivation is a separate yet important factor in survival. I do not think there was a single way that Peter-from-New-York's argument could have been correct.

Peter at 21:40 "I think I can summarize it quickly". By 32:00 they've ALMOST agreed on the subject of the first sentence. The " people who think evolution happened without intelligent guidance". Around 35:00 he states the first premise very succinctly. And it proceeds. So much for his belief in his ability to proffer a brief summary.

Thousands of years ago humans came to realise that life is much better when we band together and learn to cooperate with each other. No God required.

The call from Peter from N.Y. was a semantic and philosophical masturbation. In essence, way too much time was spent of this caller

If there was a god...the conversation with Peter would never have need to happen It was just a load of talk..full of sound and fury..signifying...Nothing Went off the original subject of Evolution, and still nowhere near getting to the conclusion.....Therefore.....God exists
