This video you will be able to watch me fill up and complete the backroom, minus the ceiling and lights. I begin with showing you how I build a storage table. I even make a couple of simple wall shelves. I'll show you how I made one of them. There is even a mini DIY that explains how I made some produce and eggs, using paperclay.

Wonderful Laura. And to think you made everything out of layers of paper! Peeping in through various windows and doors means the viewer can appreciate your creations from different angles…love that.

That is so sweet, Laura! I can just see the store keeper going back there getting something extra for an order or getting a box to pack someone's purchase in. It turned out really nice and I love that the bag for the chicken feed is actually a print material, just as a lot of those bags used to be. Such detail, it looks amazing.

Aww thanks! Glad to hear that it has that back room feel that I was hoping to capture. Everytime I see print feed bags I think about “Little House on the Prairie”. To bad that things still don’t. I’d love to collect and save them.

@@Lauras-tinyview They are hard to come by, for sure. I remember my mom talking about her mother making things from the flour sacks back in the day. My Mom was one of 7 kids on a Nebraska farm in the 30s and 40s so, Grandma made use of those. I think it was a really nice touch to add to your back room.

@@MiniatureMadnessofcherylg2696 My grandma was from a big family too. They had 9 children she lived in Missouri. She told me about feed sacks and how they even used their old old clothes to make quilts. We found some reproduction feed sack fabric and made a couple of quilts.

@@Lauras-tinyview My Grandparents had 9 children but, two died in infancy. The quilts sound really neat, even if they were done in reproduction fabrics. I have seen the antique printed sacks but, they were pretty expensive. Can't wait for your next video. Any ideas what you will do after the store is all done?

@@MiniatureMadnessofcherylg2696 I’m planning to start an Old West Hotel. Maybe slash restaurant. Getting pretty excited about it and nervous too. You know how it is when you start a new structure. Once it is started my nervousness will go away. I guess it’s because I never built one before and I’m just looking at inspiration pics. There isn’t a pattern or kit. I’m just winging it all. 😆

@@Lauras-tinyview I I am sort of sad to see it end! I bet you are too in a way. Everything you’ve created has been so perfect for the space you have to work with. It’s too bad more people don’t get to see it. Wish they had scratch build museums somewhere!!! I am back to creating…so glad that slump is over. I realized in watching you the difference between 2 layers of cardboard and 4. Though I am working in a 4 inch circle I like the thickness. I am SO glad you started your channel!

@@lucyl6425 Yes I do feel a bit sad. Very excited to start the Old West Hotel, although nervous getting started. Especially when you have an audience and try to make it look interesting and informative. 😆 I know the theme of my projects aren’t for everyone. I hope that even though they aren’t making a store or hotel, they can get some inspiration from the video if they watch. Like you did with the layers of cardboard. That makes me happy to hear. I’m so glad you are back being creative again!! Wow, are you telling me your project is within a 4 inch circle!? What scale do you work in? A museum for scratch built minis would be so inspiring!! You could go there especially when you’re in a creative slump to knock yourself out of it.

@@Lauras-tinyview I am pretty sure that whatever you decide to create it will be just as great as the general store has been. You are going to have yourself a little town eventually! Well I think that the audience that you have absolutely loves what you do! Especially since you stopped doing the voiceovers and we get to hear why you’re doing what you’re doing. The course of a week I probably watch you three times. This just always something that I think oh I must’ve missed that! You know I just love watching scratch built channels. Have you ever heard of Dinky dioramas she’s in Australia I think and she builds everything out of cardboard. I think you might enjoy your channel if you haven’t already found her. It would be so cool to have a scratch build museum I think it would be a destination place for me! Yes I have been making little gnome houses and shops inside a 4 inch wooden circle and I put little fairy lights in it. I have made little seafood shacks, fairy houses etc. I don’t work in any scale that I know of. I think if I had to do scale I would lose my interest in the project I’m very intimidated with scale. Because I live in a tiny house I have to create things that are tiny or else I wouldn’t be able to move lol. But I enjoy making the little gnome houses because then I give them away and I don’t have to worry about storing them. I have a fascination with cardboard. So your channel is very inspiring for me! So thank you!!!

Making your work table as deep as you did was the right choice, as it allowed you to still have big items on top even with the depth of the shelf directly above. AND, I think you produce turned out Wonderfully REALISTIC and your colouring of them looks Spot On! I especially like the way you made the apple stems Very Clever! I love your basket of eggs, your potatoes, carrots and fuzzy peaches as well as all of the other items you've placed in your back room. And finally, I have to say that I was Astounded at the quantity of inventory you've made for this project- but how LOVELY it was for you to be able to shop for your store, directly from your stock on hand- Kudos to you! 👏👏😀

@@Lauras-tinyview Thanks Laura. Other than all the little things you made, I was interested in the construction of the store. But you’ve just said you didn’t include that. What I was hoping for is how to make it so that you can pull out the side wall to see inside like you did in your video. That’s what has been stopping me starting my first project because I have been trying to see about pulling off the roof to see inside but that won’t work which leaves only the side. All the other projects you have made for your Store is exactly what I need to make my Mum’s home when she was a little girl in the twenties. It is such a little shack, no electricity, no running water and very basic furniture. The only thing stopping me is how to construct the wall so that I can see inside. I will be making with cardboard as it is my first attempt. Any ideas or do you know of anyone who has a basic tutorial for doing so. Thank you so much. Have been watching a few of your other videos this morning and must get on with my day or I will be here all day. Cheers Robyn ❤️😊

Look for the video where she is starting to construct the Beatle Juice House. She has a lot of experience and knowledge and has inspired me to construct my own builds.

Thank you! You will be surprised! I used heavy duty cardstock. I get it at Hobby Lobby. It’s in the scrapbook section. The color is called Kraft paper I think. The weight is 110. When they are out I have used the cream heavy cardstock same brand and weight but it doesn’t feel as heavy to me. Still good but I prefer the Kraft color. Cant remember the brand but it’s the only one they carry. I usually hold several layers of what ever cardstock or food packaging I’m using together. That helps to figure out how many layers it takes to be 1/16 thick. That Kraft cardstock takes four layers to equal 1/16. I just lightly glue each layer together. I think in some of my earlier videos it shows me gluing the layers together. I want to say the quilt rack video explains that in detail.
