“What I remember about the rise of the Empire is… is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant. It was a silent trip; we all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts, any private traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight to Coruscant, not when Order 66 came down, and not when we marched into the Jedi Temple. Not a word.”
As much as I overall prefer/like the whole inhibitor chips plot line for the Clones - I love the tragic nature of it and the impact it has on the Clones as characters - I still can't deny just how *good* a game (and more specifically how good a campaign) the old Battlefront II is. The monologues such as these between levels were so well written and delivered.
Hearing the Clone Wars narration return for this premiere was an incredible sense of nostalgia, but also a bittersweet moment as this was one of the last things Tom Kane-the man behind Yoda and Admiral Yularen in Clone Wars, and even 3PO for some games and projects-recorded before he suffered a stroke in November 2020 that damaged his ability to speak, write, and read, and had to go into early retirement. But as his daughter has stated, “My dad still remains in good spirits and his extreme stubbornness has helped him already show improvements in speech.”
Despite Kanan’s conversation with the Grand Inquisitor when captured, Kanan (Caleb) didn’t run away: he initially instinctively ran back to fight with his Master.
Finally, The Bad Batch reactions are here!!! As I suspected, Jess is absolutely going to love Omega. Also, I just want to say for the thousandth time that Omega's theme is *amazing!*
I'm glad you got the spoiler about young Kanan out of the way right away. I thought for certain someone had spoiled that Wrecker is pregnant with Papaltine's baby... I feel bad for Crosshair. He's a victim of the programming and the Empire. And he's the most dangerous of the team!
I once read that when The Clone Wars in began at the end of Episode 2 there were 10,000 Jedi across The Galaxy, but by the time Order 66 happened in Episode 3 only about 300 survived, & by the time of Episode 4 less than a dozen Jedi were left alive.
I believe Windu took over 100 Jedi with him to Geonosis in Attack of the Clones and only a handful survived. Not a great start to a war when you lose that many of your order in one battle.
This was Saw Gurrera back when he was a really good guy. His story is so tragic- decades of fighting and losing people close to him to the Empire, becoming more and more extreme, losing limbs and his mind to war and terrorism... Still, he saved all these people in this episode, and that's not nothing.
I dont remember when but during your reactions to the Clone Wars (it might have been the Bad Batch story arc) you had said you wanted another "Clone-centric" series in the future. Well this is it! Im glad you have started it and look forward to your reactions to it!
This is my favorite first episode of any Star Wars show. We know a little bit about their story but this shows how they work really well as a team. It answers a lot of questions about the birth of the Empire and how the clones are affected. I'm sure you will love this show as much as Clone Wars and Rebels
Sucks you got spoiled about Kanan but thankfully it's just a small part of the show. Very excited for these reactions and sad that the show is coming to an end in a few weeks for us.
Can't express how excited I am that you're finally doing the Bad Batch. I absolutely love this show with my whole heart. I especially love Omega. AZ is also the same droid that helped Fives out in the first arc of Clone Wars Season 6.
Don't be sorry about going on break. Your health and well-being come first. We all will eagerly await your return and reactions to the future Bad Batch episodes. EDIT: I also want to see the reactions to Wrecker. I remember Jess saying Wrecker "...is a lot!" back in Season 7 of Clone Wars.
It’s crazy watching this part way through s3 when things have changed so much. When this episode first dropped everyone was making eddits of this with that scene in Rebels where the grand inquisitor was taunting Kanan about his master dying to save him during order 66 and how her last word was run. Now we see it firsthand. It’s heartbreaking.
Oh my Emerie, YES! Seeing one of my favorite reactors and fellow clone enthusiast getting to Clones: The Series? Just the positivity adrenaline shot my day needed.
the aftermath of the fall of the republic and the surprisingly "regularly human" emotions and actions are some of the best star wars I've seen in a long time. You're in for a trip!
I’m so excited to rewatch this series on this channel! I’m extremely confident you will come to adore these clones even more. The character development they get and the interconnectivity between this series and other Star Wars content is so fascinating and just perfectly written. Looking back, it’s crazy how quickly the Bad Batch became my comfort show. In S7 of Clone Wars, I thought they were cool, but I never would have guessed that they would all go on to become some of my favorite Star Wars characters!
This series is quite a trip. I'm stoked for you to see all of this. With regards to what you were spoiled on, there are many reactors on RU-vid who have been watching this series who have been unaware of the connection to the other Series so they wanted to make sure that was there because not everybody who has been doing reactions has caught that
Among the most amazing things about this show is Dee Bradley Baker voicing all the different clones. 😉 (Also that Padawan Caleb eventually becomes the Hero Jedi from "Star Wars Rebels". Yeah, not Ezra, *that* one! 😉)
A solid intro episode to a solid Star Wars show! It has a lot of enjoyable callbacks to The Clone Wars and incorporates elements from other Star Wars projects I love (“Republic Commando”, the “Jedi” games, Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn books, etc). Really looking forward to seeing your reactions!
It's okay, when we all hear "Good soldiers follow orders", I think all of our brains melt just a little. So much trauma. I hope that you remember the droid, AZ and his time he spent with Fives.
Ahhh we're here! And I can say (for me personally) I'm glad you're gonna take a brake here soon because you're gonna need it for what is to come! Be here when you get back and enjoy the time off😄 Cant wait to continue the journey! Also people, please for the love of all that is the force QUIT SPOILING
You can upload videos, and set them to release at a certain time and date. then you can have it all ready to go, and enjoy your break. As soon as you said you were spoiled, I knew exactly what you were talking about. Some people are either a too excited and type faster than they're brain, or Genuine A-Holes.
I know you're just trying to be helpful lol so forgive the long response but I did want to explain for you or anyone else that thinks I should still upload while on my break. I'm very aware of that feature. It's actually the way that you all can get the shows that consistently upload on my channel every week throughout the year (Bad Batch/Star Wars, Classic Who, Supernatural) AND everything that is also currently airing. I pride myself on being very consistent with the content I provide to you all throughout the year. Up until I start my break at the end of April, it won't seem like it but I'll be recording a ton of those shows I just listed to have them set and ready to go for the summer months. This is because the summer is going to be very hectic for me with shows premiering and truly looking at it now, I still don't know how I'm going to get it all done. Also from a reactor's perspective, uploading at times can be more time consuming than recording and editing because of the copyright, blocks and re-edits that have to be done. If I upload Bad Batch during my break, I gotta upload all the other stuff I do weekly during my break. Both for my channel and patreon. If you can trust me when I say I need these two weeks off (without uploading anything) both for my schedule later down the line and for my mental health/prevention of burnout. Given the amount of videos I put out consistently, I don't think it's too much to ask.
This episode starts with the obsolesence of clone troops and arrival of stormtroopers -- seeding the heartbreaking theme of war veterans' plight ... coming home to no glory after victory. 😕
Glad you're reactions are coming now. I am excited for this episode because so much interesting stuff happens. (and yes taking a well deserved break is totally understandable)
This premier is fantastic, probably my favourite of the three animated series because it dips you straight into the Order 66 issues. Linking Caleb in just makes it so much more pointed. I will say this series lives up to the other two in what it brings to the table. And the whole Saw thing, I feel that jumping around is a bit crazy. But I think he was a great character for that moment showing why he is so unwilling to give the Empire any sort of lee way.
Hunter reminds me of my Dad. Wrecker reminds me of my Uncle John. Echo reminds me of Uncle Todd. Tech reminds me of my Uncle Steve. Crosshair reminds me of my Uncle Brian!
Oh I thought...something else was spoiled. The part in the intro isn't that big of a spoiler though. Doesn't really ruin anything, unless you saw rebels already and were wanting to be surprised about the Caleb reveal. "You are more machine than man", definitely a Vader reference. "Not again".. Food fights must happen a lot with these guys. 🤣🤣 Extraordinary...aren't they" definitely a reference to AotC when the Prime Minister said the exact same thing but with "magnificent" instead of "extraordinary". Seeing Crosshair like that was too sad. 😭😭
I knew you would love this, I forgot how sad it was watching Caleb/Kanan backstory. Wondering how different he would have been if he had escaped/joined with 99 considering how much he liked them when he met them. But we wouldn't have had Ezra would we.
I bet Depa Bilaba's Master was not so "Generous" with her as she is with young padawan, Caleb/Kanan... Mace Windu would have been over the top strict with her...
It's true. Nobody could have foreseen Omega force choking Darth Vader and taking her place at Palpatine's side as his new apprentice. You might think that that would violate canon, but they make it work. ;)
@@mrvoltar Agreed. I thought it would be hard to outdo Neil Patrick Harris's song and dance number as The Celestial Toymaker. Who would have guessed that Vader had those kind of moves? And K-Pop? Bold choice.
Tech is my favorite, in season 2 he says of the best lines in the entire series, i wont spoil it, but you will know it when you hear it. Im glad you're taking a break, its a good healthy thing and you will know how often you need to do it
You’re not ready for the emotional roller coaster that is Crosshair’s arc. Come to think of it neither am I. At the time of this comment we don’t know quite where his arc will conclude.
Glad to hear that you were only spoiled on Kanan being in the show, I was wondering if it was gonna be him or if it was for a certain other character who doesn't show up until later seasons, and that's as much as I'll say about it. As far as the timing of the show, as you probably picked up from this episode the show at least starts immediately after Revenge of the Sith, meaning it's about 19 years before a New Hope and Rogue One, about 14 years before the start of Rebels and Andor, and about 10 years before the start of the Obi-Wan show. It's also good you're starting now, as the final Season is currently airing on Disney Plus (the final episode is the first week of May 2024), so you can just go straight through the show with reviews and not have to wait for new episodes. After finishing this show the next Star Wars thing coming out is Acolyte in June, but it takes place way earlier in the Star Wars timeline than anything else we've seen in the movies and shows (something like 100 years before Phantom Menace), so it won't have much if any connection to anything you've seen before.
The reason so many people probably spoiled Caleb was because of how many people didn't realize who he was. It adds more weight to beginning of this show.
Such an underrated series. Its more easily watchable than the clone wars and rebels imo. By that I mean it feels more focused and has less boring episodes where nothing really happens.
Thank you, Darling. Please take a Dramamine pill and buckle up, double check the latches. This is quite a ride. I'm watching the current every week realease and I hope all your other fans consider not to spoil anything else. All I will say about every character is have faith and keep hope. Thanks for light our Tuesday dawns with Star Wars again
Question. If something happens within the first 3 minutes of a show, is it a spoiler? As you explained in the outro I would say yes, if you got the frame by frame script. If the spoiler was: "The reason Kanan distrust clones, watch bad batch". I dunno. I am not saying it is or isn't, just reflecting.
id say it is a spoiler because there is nothing about the title of the show that indicates he is in it so outside of the fact that the show is about the bad batch anything else is a spoiler
