He’s not my favorite, but that moment lives rent free in my head forever. That’s when I went from liking him to loving him. It took some time before I truly appreciated the brilliance of that moment.
Being Autistic myself, this line definitely hit home and made me smile. The writers did such a great job, giving us all these little hints that Tech’s Autistic.😀👏
I am neurodivergent (High-Functioning Autism) so hearing Tech say those words was probably more emotional than anything in Star Wars has ever made me. The fact I’m able to relate with a character on such a personal level means so much to me.
Ok I love Tech with every fiber of my heart and soul. And everyone else having to explain the social cues he missed in that interaction with Omega was so endearing. He’s such a neurodivergent icon and I love it. Once this season is over I’ll share the rest of my thoughts on him. But you’re not ready for next week. One of the best episodes in the show. Also I love that heart to heart because he’s being genuine, but you can also tell this isn’t a conversation he’s used to having so he’s choosing his words very carefully. And his message really resonated with a lot of people.
As expected, Jess, you got me sobbing over your beautiful reaction to the beautiful moment that Tech and Omega had. Hoo boy, you got me right in the heart with that one.
Losing Crosshair was definitely a much tougher blow to the squad than seeing Echo essentially transferring to another unit. Omega has a different perspective on it, she is still a kid and has a problem handling family members going away.
I watched this episode after going to a convention in my town. There I was talking to a friend about Tech and he said Tech was meant to be an ASD character. I have ASD and didn't notice it. But then a few days later this episode aired and the scene where he talks to Omega about the way he processes feelings really does resonate with me. It's weird how you don't notice these things when watching but then after being told it makes these moments blatantly obvious.
I didn’t notice that either. Then I saw everyone talking about Tech being neurodivergent and I was like oh duh! I wish I could say kore, but I can’t without spoiling things.
Love these episodes, Tech is such a great character and probably my fav of the Batch (tho I find Crosshair the most interesting). Glad these episodes gave a spotlight to his character and his relationship with Omega.
This. This moment here, the honest chat between Tech and Omega in the cave, this is one of the main reasons why I hoped you would watch The Bad Batch. I am autistic, so I relate to Tech so much. I have trouble sharing or communicating my emotions. Luckily I have an amazing partner who puts up with my ...atypical behavior and loves me anyway.
People complained a lot about these episodes as "Filler" (which I think is bullshit) but this is when The Bad Batch officially becomes *Star Wars.* Omega and Tech are dealing with Attachment. So are Hunter and even Wrecker. They have become Attached to Echo, their Ship, and even each other. It isn't an accident that they find a way out once they Let Go. "Retrieval" was my least favorite episode of the series, simply because the boss thug is such a one-dimensional pig of a character. "The Crossing" however, gave us that "on the spectrum" moment, something I'm not certain has ever been in Star Wars before, and it gave us the explosive mineral ipsium, which should end up in other stories of the future. Oh, and Jess said something like "Can't they ever catch a break?" LOL Not the series to ask that question.
