I play the Sea Vixen quite alot and ive grown quite fond of it, it is true that at the start of the match you cant do much but abuse the climbing and drop on people but late game can be quite fun for multiple reasons. First is the mind games, because you can't headon people (unless you're a chad and use ground rockets) you need to use the radar to find and dodge the remaining enemies (this is if your team is dead/low) and then you have to time when to strike, you strike to early and now they know where you are, you strike to late and you get no kills/ the enemy finds you. Second, this is kinda a meme but because the nose cone is so big and bulky if your at the same speed as an enemy you can snap them in half but take no damage to yourself, adding on the decent flight performance (good acc, amazing air break) you can troll alot of skilled players into being tapped out of the air or killed by a teamate.
Love watching the streams and videos. Another banger as always. One suggestion is to maybe try and set up a streaming schedule if you havent already, it'll just make it much more consistent on the viewership side.
Yeah I notced a huge uptick in how many of these I see around the 8.0-9.0 range after the anniversary sale a few weeks ago, so that explains that. Also, that ending lmfaoo 😆

To more thoroughly break down the Red Tops, the missile itself will accelerate very well compared to Aim-9B because while the thrust is about twice as much (36KN vs ~17.2KN) and the weight is a little more than twice as much (167kg vs 72.5kg), the fuel weight for Red Top constitutes a much larger percentage than Aim-9B (~37.2% vs ~23.1%), which means that it actually accelerates much better than Aim-9B as it burns fuel. This is also compounded by the motor burning for .3 seconds longer (2.5 seconds vs 2.2 seconds) giving it maybe ~700m more range at high altitudes at or above 5000m, and better against maneuvering targets down low. What holds it back at lower altitudes would be the size of the missile generating more drag at lower altitudes, though the weight helps the missile quite a bit in dives (Ballistic Coefficient). This however is compensated by the added G tolerance (16 vs 11) and the added fin deflection + lateral fin acceleration (15.3 degrees vs 9.9 degrees and 15 vs 10.4) which makes it better at hitting maneuvering targets. This is further supplemented by Red Top's large bursting charge (32.17kg proxy'd within 12m vs 7.62kg proxy'd within 5m). The uncage area is also a given bonus as not many missiles in the game have one to match. TL;DR - Red Top can respond to targets much faster than Aim-9B and can hit targets at higher altitudes from farther because of the enhanced relative motor performance. It also has a high fin deflection angle. The missile also has the largest bursting charge of any fire and forget missile at 8.7 and a large proximity detonation radius. Arguably the best missile you see in game until Aim-9D/Aim-9G/Shafrir 2 and R-60
Met this jet yesterday for the first time and can't say I saw the missile coming. I was in the finnish vampire and kinda forgot that you jump from bf109 g6's br of 4.3 or something to 8.0 br... I might have to grind some sl for those repair bills 🤣
I have the F-86 A and am about to move to the F variant. The first time I met this thing was when I was fully up tiered in my F84, and it killed me with a missile. I was not a happy camper.
I remember the first time I saw a Sea Vixen in my MD-450B, i legit thought that it had guns (or at least gun pods) and I'm catching one going very slow for his airfield (probably out of missiles), and the dude just starts to dogfight me without guns. Him being a Vixen and me being a 450B (= i throw up my speed in 2 turns) meant he quickly got the upper hand, and he was just staying behind me without shooting like an idiot until a MiG 15 swooped in to kill him
Even though they have no guns I still avoided head-ons with them because they can carry rocket pods. If a Vixen goes head on with you, he either has a plan or he's just stupid. A lot of them tried to head-on me. Only 1 or 2 actually had rocket pods...
I always head on people with the sea vixen . Its the best way to get away from enemys if you see them coming from the side for example. Just go for the headon roll sideways and pull S+A or S+D at around 1.5km and they will NEVER hit you in headons. Afterwards you get a lot of space cause youre going straight full speed while the enemy is either going straight or he is Turning with you= he loses a lot of speed and you gain several kilometers of seperation^^
You should probably try the Israeli A4N, it’s pretty much a better version of this thing at 9.3. The engine is 2x better than the A4E’s, it has countermeasures, guns, and you get 2 AIM9Ds and 2 Shafrir 2s in the same load out
Pro tip, if u meet one while in a bomber, throttle to 0, missiles cant lock. Works too in a fighter jet but more difficult to pull the trick as you are more busy during a game
You said it right: It's effective, not fun like the F8E or the J7E or any other capable plane. BUT, if you get 4+ kills with that 780% SL multiplier + premium account and you see those 100k + SL sheets popping up, it's kinda satisfying. You can also carry a bombload on top of those missiles for even more SL/RP. Pure SL grinder for me and you can grind your way to the start of GB rank VII with ease. But if your team's losing, you can't do shit since you don't have any capability to dogfight, it's a ratty support plane. I just J out on the strip if I'm the only one left. Saves everyone some time. when I first met this in my g.91 r3 I got so mad, I dodged 2 of its missiles then couldn't catch it when it ran to base so I killed some AI, then he comes back and wrecks me with his resupply
To be fair, in the world world, speed and height are king. Only inexperienced pilots got sucked into a turning fight. The Sea Vixen is one of my favourite, even though it is an absurd beast. How they managed to put two Avon engines in something and make it sub-sonic is beyond me but they did.
The quirkiness is why I love this plane, us Brits love an odd airframe! The lack of a gun makes for interesting challenge, and you can be an utter goofball and mix red tops and RPs, I've killed a fair few aircraft head on from a2a use of those rockets. can do an okay job in a pinch to bomb bases too. As someone who tries to survive rounds rather than waste SL dying, and loves saving the arse of a teammate, especially the strikers, it's a great plane. Certainly more fun than say... the Su-7. And to add to that it looks phenomenal! For the record, ice cold coke zero is the beverage of choice XD
i got my first 8.7 jet: the german mig 15, and i absolutely hate fighting these things, but at least the 37 mil makes it a decent ground pounder so i can win by tickets
I fight these all the time in my A sabre, only been killed once or twice. Their missiles are dodgable, and when you don't have to worry about gun kills, you can play a lot more with positioning. But they're also hard to kill. They feel kind of like an F-104. If you know they're there, you can survive. But if you don't, you're dead. And if they keep their speed up, you can't do anything.
As someone who’s terrible at air RB, doesn’t know my enemy at all, and has the aim of a stormtrooper…. I specifically bought this plane to grind SL. But as I realized what power I actually hold, I now fly this plane to troll people like you, because I feel safe knowing (almost) nothing can catch me. So I guess what I’m saying is.. That end killed me 😂 and yes they are annoying but don’t show rear to it and it’s useless. So i will take facing a SV over an Su-11 or XP-50 any day still
True. A good Sea vixen can be annoying tough, especially if you are a lower tier than it and it gets downtiered itself. You can’t catch it, and they can be a looming threat that throws off your game. I know how to counter them, but in some planes and in some situations, you just can’t do much against it.
@@Gothic109hat’s why I say that some planes aren’t under tiered, but that some other planes are over tiered. This games matchmaking is only the beginning of its flaws.
THANK YOU! Oh my god its so annoying playing the mig15bis when these things just point and click and I can’t do anything about it. And finally once you get behind them, they just run to their airfield, even when they still have missiles. The second you turn around because they’re outrunning you or you’re getting to close to their airfield they just turn around and missile you. Complain and all you get is “skill issue” or “cope”
I'm glad I finally got to see Joob play a Sea Vixen. Understandable for your opinion on it, being a box with only missiles isn't fun every time, but those games where you clutch a 1v4 are good highlights to your career
As much as i love playing this plane. I understand why most hate playing against it, especially if the player is a good experienced pilot. I love playing planes like the Mig-15bis and Mig-17 And i strongly dislike playing bombers (except maybe the YAK-28B because you can just haul away and slam some flares down lol) but i find enjoyment in the sea vixen. Its always a challenge when there are 4 others on my team in it and they all wanna just steal my kills i setup for or crit with a redtop
There really needs to be a regular tech tree vixen, way back before the phantoms I had always hoped a vixen would show up, but I'm definitely not giving gaijin any more money.
I main Britain, so I've never fought the Sea Vixen. All I can say about it is I think it looks neat. Also they actually help in the matches I've been in with them, unlike the useless F5c players that all flock to bases bomb them then get shot down, or worse shoot down friendly planes on the runway by "accident" then crash on take-off themselves.
I'm just trying to get my german texh tree up and these fucking things keep killing me no matter if i use the g/91 or the mig 15 its agony to fight against them
if ever you're in a 1v1 with this atrocity, try going head-on with them when they come in for a missile run (they don't have all-aspect L) or if you want to do a bit of trolling just switch your engine off and watch them be absolutely helpless, lol.
If you have something with AiM0 Bs you just have to make them climb. Most players of the Vixen climb agressively to get distance between them and their attacker. And they get slow doing it. Then you send your Sidewinder up there and they are too slow and too much of a whale to do anything about it. With a pure gunfighter though... not much you can do if they decide to climb and run. Ground strike, evade their missiles and just ignore them otherwise. Make point and decide the match while they are on their way to rearm. Oh and the "old" Ret Tops had more explosive and a lager proximity range, so they were harder to evade in the last second, since they blew up like 100m away and still got you. This has been reduce quiet a bit to bring it in line with other missiles.
I grinded through Britain with the sea vixen and have an average of 3 kills per game pretty stupid and maybe it should go up in br but as soon as it gets uptiered it's much more painful to play. Lots of supersonic planes with flares.
when I see this plane I'm usually playing my ariete; and cuz ariete is not normal for 9.3 - more or less I should call it broken- it's more or less a free kill
If you wanna dog fight you can have some fun with the rockets... yeah it sucks to fight against, but every tier has a plane like this... also climb rate doesn't matter that much, most migs and sabres can climb with the Vixen...
It is quite slow for a Mustang But it turns quite well and 7.7mms cannot do anything to its airframe. With such firepower at this low BR is Not that Brain cell consuming
I bought one just after it came out, it was so OPAF, 9000% pay to win. Then they nerfed the S out of it: br raise, missile engine acceleration/working time, seeker guidance.... Now it can still BnZ firing missiles just fine, but most missile will miss for different reasons (too close it will miss, too far the missile engine dies in 2 sec and the whole missle just gliding with no power....) As a owner I'm sad but I understand: it was wayyyyyyyyyy too OP and needed a nerf.
I think it is a good plane. Low repair cost and the fact it is easy to get kills makes it a SL printer if you know how to use it, and buying it on a sale is a pretty much all you need to do to guarantee yourself grinding out most of the British tree, very, very quickly.
I play the sea vixen, it's my only premium and after months of practice ive found it easy to get kills. I also wanna grind out the british tree, but I get the lack of guns is also an annoying quirk.
Day 35 of asking to play the yak4 at 2.0 Start by a dive directly at q base that has another base clise to it ( 2 bases beside each other) 4 bombs for each Go straight to your base killing some ai on the way with your 7.62 Some planes will come on your back going in a straigh line with minimal evading is recommended and try to hit their engines with ur turret since they have weak engines a damaged one will lead them to crash i return to the airfield with 2 bases with 4 to 5 ai kills and 1 or 2 planes after taking off i go for bases if left but if not i will focus on ground targets cuz aa is the bain of this plane so bombing airfields is not recommended Bonus:do not forget to have smoke always on to piss the enemies 🤣

Turn the oven on? Turn the water off? What do I turn, because trying to dodge missiles in an 8.7 plane is absolute bullshit.
Don't think any plane below 9.0 should have missles what so ever go to the Americans and what plane in rank 5 have missles? It's literally a painful experience so far nothing but guns and bombs and everyone is faster than you practically
Yes. Its pain to kill it and its pain to get kills with it most of the time. But you can choose between this, Hunter FGA9 (higher BR,worst everything), Lightning F52 (fast brick with same missiles at higher BR) or f** Harrier GR1, its the best premium brits have if you want to grind them up everything alse is pretty much trash.
The key thing when playing against the sea vixen is to not fly away from it as you'll find yourself defending from a 16g missile. If you keep side on and dogfight it you will win as long as you aren't getting third partied. I've grinded through Britain in the sea vixen and it's pretty hopeless when the enemy is paying attention and not letting you get a rear aspect shot.
This aircraft is absolute dogshit, I have no idea how people have such issues killing this. :/ It's not that fast, it handles like a boat and the missiles only work in a VERY small window. Which is non-existant as soon as enemy aircraft start turning. :/
